I think we need another Central Midfielder, defensive minded. Either on loan or Permanent

We definitely need a new centre of midfield - most pressing area for me - we need two quality additions on there. Then anything else is a bonus but I’d expect the majority of our budget to go on sorting that out.

I guess our incomings then will be reliant on sales as we cannot stockpile players. A new right back would be nice but we have Konsa, KHH, Cash & Kosta.

What we need are players with big game mentality experienced in high pressure games who don’t go missing, mixed with youth prospects.

This place really does my head in sometimes, it could the Summer transfer window thread, the FFP thread or this thread. Everyone seems to want to ridicule and criticise each other.

For my own mental health I think I’m going to take a break.

    Peace out peeps

Erm they don’t … But opinions out across as facts and some of the drivel spouted will be challenged and criticised appropriately. Mods do a great job managing the site to ensure it’s a respectful place for all.

McGinn = Class. Villa legend and one of several reasons we are where we are.

No way is he close to being a Villa legend … Great player and servant - God is a legend and you’re putting fat arse in the same bracket - nah no way.

  4. Said it the other night and will reiterate - right offer comes in I’d sell. If we’ve got to sell someone for pure profit to reinvest then  out of Luiz, Ramsey & McGinn its McGinn every time for me. Selling a player at the right time is something we’ve been crap at for years.

Which would suggest that's it then as suggested on twitter/X.

If it’s with the black or claret detailing as opposed to the contrast gold/yellow  I think as brand evolution rather than a full revolution it fits the brief well. if they go for a deeper claret as with the Betano press announcement  I think it will really stand out.

I get it’s polarising but it’s not as bad in my opinion as some make out but also not a masterpiece. Hopefully all will be forgotten when we go the Bernabeu next season and grab a famous win with Ramsey kissing the badge after scoring the winner.

If Spurs beat Liverpool, that will suck. BUT, if we beat Brighton and then beat Liverpool ourselves, we will finish third if we beat Palace and Liverpool lose to Wolves.

    🎯

Their superior goal difference of +20 over us guarantees them at least 3rd …

Apparently an article in the Times today - I don't have an account - claiming that we're pushing for a £30m increase to the PSR allowance for next season, according to Stefan Borson:

I've seen quite a lot of takes on here suggesting we aren't at much risk from PSR, but I think people should be asking themselves why we would be pushing this if we weren't. Don't think it's implausible we get a points deduction next season.

We would be named or under a soft embargo if we were close IMO… As costs across the board increase with inflation. Then then the permitted losses should rise also in line with that.

He's been absolutely unbelievable this season and his resale value can't be much. Just an absolutely ridiculous comment.

He’s been good as have all our players but wouldn’t say he’s been unbelievable whatsoever… I’d only said sell him if we got a good enough offer. Most of the team are available for the right price and that would have to be met or exceeded - cannot see it but I’d be ok if we did.

Not just basing it on him missing that peno, his all round play has been embarrassing for way too long. Anyway I think he's not up to it others are welcome to disagree

Has it ? It’s been an iffy few months. The first half of the season he was sheer class - tapered off massively no doubt but easy to forget how good he’s been for us after the debacle of his performance tonight. He needs the summer to rest and reset and either get sold or knuckle down fresh for next season. I think we can sell him and not suffer too much if we invest wisely or we keep him and have a class player moving into his prime years.

  10. I’d be ok with selling him if we get a good enough offer. Not just based on tonight but he goes missing, he’s getting older and value will only diminish and think he can be replaced and that profit can then be reinvested as we’re gunna have to be savvy with creating money through transfer dealings due to the uefa cap. Yeah I said it.

I dont think we necessarily need an outright DM but someone who is better at covering the role when Kamara isn't there, someone with more versatility or a more complete midfielder who pairs with anyone sat next to him

From what I've seen I think that's Thuram

I disagree, we need someone who’s equally as good as a dedicated DM and pushes Kamara to be better or can replace him without a drop off in quality. No one bar Martinez should be guaranteed the shirt - competition breeds improvement and if Kamara drops his form he’ll know he’s gunna be out the team and have to earn the shirt back on the pitch and training ground.

  12. He’s not turned into bad player, he’s just massively out of form and bereft of confidence. Season cannot end soon enough for him and then assess from there based on if any offers come.

  13. We’ve choked … they haven’t handled the occasion at all and our big players like McGinn have been anonymous. Still only half way through the tie and still time tonight to get at least one back so only one behind for the 2nd leg. I have faith we will make the final still and it’s looking like 4th is tied up. Happy days to be a Villa fan regardless of tonight !

Is the Warehouse basically that academy building where they have the kids zone before the match? If so, I assume the outside will largely just stay the same and some bars and food areas put inside it?

Yep indeed it is … I meant additional future buildings as a continuation of the Birmingham industrial aesthetic in general … timeless & more befitting to the area.

Last time I was I'm the North Stand I could not believe how bad it was. Is there any point making cosmetic changes to it, really?

The club must think so and the cost of whatever it is they are doing must be worth it or they wouldn’t bother …

I suppose JV people on Villa Talk come from many walks of life. I am Sure we have designers, architects, builders, teachers, plasterers,  plumbers, accountants, executives etc etc. We also have people following the ups and downs of the club for decades!

I personally respect the views of others on here and I personally am very much a happy clapper type villa fan and it just is quite striking that we all know what is holding us back compared to Spurs, to take am example of a clin with a similar enough history to us, and we have delayed taking the action that will help us bridge that gap but haven't had any comms explaining why. The comms gap is not the fault of fans mate.

Maybe the new appointments to the board will now oversee a full review of the options and assess what’s doable and draw up plans with experts and then we will hear more once there is more to say about it…

Heck also mentioned a few reasons why and work is planned to bring the stadium to a standard befitting the club and ticket costs. Then I assume once we have upgraded these, The Warehouse is fully functioning and they’ve had time to research and consult a vision will be presented. Maybe get decided the plans worked up by Purslow weren’t ambitious enough. I was told previously Lerner had looked at a Chelsea Village set up for the north stand with integrated hotel. Patience is required. I’d rather the club be quiet until they have concrete plans to announce myself.

  17. Can see frictionless kiosks being installed all around the ground over the summer to aid efficiency and increase revenues. After the initial infrastructure investment you can then reduce staff costs. Over in Seattle at Lumen Field they have Amazon’s Just Walk Out retail merchandise stores…

Bayern, Arsenal, Madrid, Juve and United are the only ones getting the old skool logo on their 3rd kits. Elite teams to adidas are long term partners and kit sale sellers. Nothing to do with CL. I’m more surprised to not see Ajax on the list as they sell bucket loads of shirts.

It’s widely reported that Newcastle have been given elite tier status at the expense of Roma for next season … if you are in this tier you seem to get the following.

    • Preferential treatment.

    • A closer working relationship with Adidas.

    • More custom products as well as more products in general.

    • Advertised globally instead of certain regions .

    • More products available on official Adidas websites in more nations, for example only "Elite Teams" are sold on Adidas' Chinese website.

Heck has stated that our global reach and amount of products will grow through this so maybe we will gatecrash the top table and get the same status. Newcastle do have prior History with Adidas and the Saudis behind them. We have the current largest shareholder so who knows where we will sit until further details are released.

Who are we looking at? 👀

He name checks a couple of players in the article but doesn’t link any of them to us by name.  Kévin Denkey - 23 YO Togolese striker with 23 goals in 28 league games this season, along with Alan Minda a 20 Ecuadorean RWF/LWF/SS and Felipe Augusto whose a 20 YO Brazilian Striker they’ve just purchased from Corinthians…

  21. Sparks agency referenced in this article and can see why a certain poster has excused himself from the conversations …

Imagine being one of the few people on the planet to have seen the plans for Newcastle United's new kits with Adidas - but you can't tell a soul about what's to come because of non-disclosure agreements. Torture, right? Well, it must be a particularly crippling secret to keep if you're a lifelong supporter like Craig Buglass.

The former Nike and Puma designer never got to put together a shirt for Newcastle, but the Geordie's Spark agency are 'friends of the Adidas family' and have been 'working with them, consulting on the kits'. It may well be the next best thing.

Newcastles kits leaked, it’s not on their third. Don’t expect us to either

I just assumed given they are an elite team for adidas they would get a trefoil like others do … Being in the elite tier means they'll get bespoke designs each season and not just regurgitation of the current seasons template. Be interesting where we are in terms of tier level for adidas.
