I guess the nearest sites that would be big enough have access to motorways and the road network would be sort of Coleshill way or maybe somewhere around Bassetts Pole?

    Doesn’t Hs2 go through Coleshill ?

I think moving will be very difficult - land in the city for a project this size isn't easy to come by and we'll struggle to get a site any nearer to the city centre. I'd hate to see out toward Bodymoor and we can't really move to Wast Hills or Sandwell so our options would be really limited - I don't see a better option than buying up some big chunks of the land around the ground and rebuilding where we are. It might be just as effective to change Aston as move to somewhere else.

There looks to be plenty of land around the BBC development which is ripe as they aren’t taking over all of it.

Back to VP if they were to stay they’d have to CPO the area to build anything worthwhile around the stadium and expand the Witton. If we do stay I can see them buying up Majestics and the Holte Hotel and turning them into soft hospitality areas bars / restaurants.

  4. I think given the way we do things out of the limelight if they were working on something they’d be NDA’s galore in place to restrict any leaks. I’d also expect if they were thinking of building a new stadium then someone like Manica, BIG, or Populous would be used and we would see definitive designs of the finished proposal and not some speculative pie in the sky, “I don’t know if we’re going to go with the spaceship look, but I think it gives you a strong idea of what our intent is.”  BS rendering ala SHA.

Could the reason we paused the development that we were waiting for these developments? And they'll kick off again soon now that it's done?

Seems the most plausible explanation based on the vacuum of info since.

  6. Interesting timing of the new appointment from someone from Orascom whose background is in large infrastructure projects. Why wait for the Atairos deal ratification as he could’ve been appointed any time over the past 5 years unless they are now looking to lean on his knowledge & expertise. Doesn’t prove a move away is anymore likely but it does raise the question why now IMO.

Two more wins and a draw should be enough for 4th. Spurs will get 8 to 10 points I think

We have to keep focus. I'm worried our next two games are at home where we aren't very good anymore.

Bournemouth Chelsea Brighton and Palace. There are two wins there for us I hope

Wow and there I was trying to defend you earlier … Have you seen spurs fixtures compared to ours - they play two London derbies in Arsenal then Chelsea followed with Liverpool and next then is Burnley, Citeh & finally  sheff utd. We have Bournemouth, Chelsea, Brighton then plop and finally palace.

Which of the two would you rather have ? We’ve just beaten Arsenal for the second time this season and you hope we’ll get two more wins this season … ok

Ollie's now scored 59 PL goals in 141 games. Just 14 behind Gobby.

A chunk of those games were under the fraud that is Gerrard so probs would’ve beaten it already if it wasn’t for those dark days

It's for sale at a stupidly cheap price.

Lets move from a place with 2 mainline stations to one with none.

It’s a 15 min walk or shuttle bus 4mins traffic dependent … but get the point

If it came down to cost then the pause is even more stupid as it will only have got more expensive by the time they finally pull the finger out and we will have more catching up to do on revenue.

I think what happened with the Buckingham Group at Fulham & Plop is fresh in contractors mind and  has a scared a lot of firms and that should subside in time.

I trust the board to have done the math and looked at the business case from all angles and will do what’s best when the appropriate time is right for the club.

  11. But it wouldn’t be their money used to build the stadium it would be the clubs via loans & bonds and it would increase the value of their asset. You’re right though about it not making initial sense right now. Maybe in a year or two who 20 no one knows…

I always think the opposite - it's too far forward.

If you look at @Captain_Townsend's fantastic picture:

You can see how badly it impacts on the Holte End  - people often talk about 'filling in the corners' but this corner is already pretty much full of Holte End - to fill in the corner you'd need to knock down the left-most block of the Holte and then join up the two stands. For me, any development of the Doug Ellis Stand should start with the front row of the lower tier to the left of the staircase that's furthest left in the Lower Holte - it would open the Holte End up a little and give us a ground that's 'squarer'.

So you would rather a stand further back from the pitch akin to the Olympic stadium / murrayfield  just cause the Holte was built way past the touchline ? It would be an awful View from the last row of the top tier.

Got to say it, you sound a touch rattled . . .

    . . . mate.

    I mean who would’nt be … it looks like a spaceship 😂

Back to the home of league football, Heck did say they were focusing on bettering the experience for all fans and not just one stand so you’d expect them all to be given an overhaul this summer. The cost of renovating all the concourses and redoing the corporate areas won’t come cheap, plus add in the warehouse, I think once we’ve upgraded these and maximised the income from them they’ll look again at the New North Stand and hopefully go bigger.

Oddly, at on time BSkyB owned 11.2% of Manchester United, 9.9% of Manchester City, 8.8% of Leeds United, 4.8% of Sunderland and a chunk of Chelsea - all at the same time - I'm guessing that made the tendering process for TV deals interesting. Also at that time, ITV, through Granada, owned 5% of Arsenal and 9.9% of Liverpool. The 90's were weird.

Don’t forget NTL who had shares in us & Toon … that paid for the new Trinity Road stand

  15. Well just seen that them down the road plan on a 62k stadium … I wonder if we’ll do a spurs and ensure a redeveloped Villa park / new stadium  trumps their capacity 😂 … They’ve  a long way to go but importantly have the land and desire to go for it and this time perhaps the momentum. Not bothered what they do tbh but worth keeping an eye on for shits & giggles

In terms of connections with Philadelphia, what's the connection you're thinking of?

Comcast Spectacor unveils $2.5 billion master plan for South Philly sports complex. Here’s what’s in it

The announcement comes as the Sixers move forward with a proposal to build a downtown basketball arena.

Over the next decade, Comcast Spectacor hopes to reimagine part of the South Philly sports complex into a year-round destination for work and play. Plans call for new retail and restaurants, a music venue and a hotel to start. If the full “dream” is realized, executives will also bring office buildings and new residential housing to the area.

Many of those projects will rise on existing parking lots outside the complex’s stadiums and arenas, including the Wells Fargo Center. The work is set to unfold over multiple phases and is expected to cost $2.5 billion, a price tag that will be shared by a variety of investors.

“It’s really a vision to bring a tentpole project to South Philadelphia and create a working, living neighborhood that is busy morning, noon and night,” said Phil Laws, president of the Wells Fargo Center.

The first phase of the master plan represents a $700 million investment. It’s slated to start “pretty soon” and wrap up by 2028. It begins with upgrades to Xfinity Live! but will also include the construction of a 250-room hotel, a 5,000-6,000-seat concert venue, restaurant and retail spaces, and a new outdoor plaza.

Xfinity Live! will undergo a $12 million renovation more than a decade after it opened where the Spectrum once stood. Construction on the music venue is expected to start next year. The facility, roughly a quarter of the size of the Wells Fargo Center, will welcome up-and-coming and more intimate acts. Work on the hotel will follow.

The second phase of the plan is considered aspirational for now. While Comcast has the right to build everything outlined in the first phase of the project, the company does not currently have the ability to build the 2,100 rental units in the plan It also lacks the development rights to move forward with any projects that would use the parking lots tied to Citizens Bank Park. Every space the plan builds upon will have to be replaced, meaning additional parking garages will need to be built for the full vision to be realized.

Despite the obstacles, Laws is optimistic that everything will fall into place.

“This is a commitment to our part of the sports complex. We will be in the sports complex as we have been for 50 years. I hope to be there another 50 years. We hope to cement that as a unit,” said Laws.

The fundamentals for Villa v spurs are slightly different due to Birmingham v London, higher interest rates and higher build costs but for me there’s no way in the world the owners wouldn’t make an absolute shit load of money if they built a new stadium.

Precisely, they would earn a shit load more when they come to sell v.sports and not be on the hook for any incurred debt for building a new stadium.

Forbes have us down as worth around £600million excluding v.sports other interests and that’s based on last season. I’d say double that with a brand spanking new stadium without putting any money towards it. It really is a no brainer when we are on a firmer self supporting level. Thats the key for me why it won’t happen anytime soon. They’ll want us to be profitable and build from there IMO so we can afford the debt repayment

  18. Why is Heck getting the brunt of the criticism  for lack of communication regarding the whatever status New North Stand when we have Tommy Jordan as Communications Director and also Tom Otrebski as Senior Communications Officer? Surely it is their jobs to relate info to the wider base if the club want to that is…

Yeah left back, replacement for Digne if rumour is true. Moreno has to compete

I wonder if we can get what we paid or just under for Moreno if we’d also sell him & Digne. If we sign Hermoso he could cover LB as well and then we have Sousa as well. Can see Monchi wheeling & dealing this summer for sure. Exciting times !

Ferdi Kadıoğlu said goodbye to Fenerbahçe. The new stop of the national football player, which is on the radar of Europe's giant clubs, has been officially announced. Here is the figure that will enter Fenerbahçe's coffers in Ferdi Kadıoğlu transfer

Ferdi Kadıoğlu, who was on the radar of the European giants with the exit he caught in Fenerbahçe, says goodbye to the yellow and navy blue people. The new address of the 24-year-old football player, whose name has been mentioned with various clubs for a long time, has been officially announced. With the end of the season, the national player will say goodbye to Turkey.

The new stop of Ferdi Kadıoğlu, whose name is also mentioned with Manchester City and Arsenal, has been announced. Aston Villa, one of the Premier League teams, darkened his eyes for the national football player. As a result of the insistence of the team's manager, Unai Emery, the English club agreed to pay the testimonial fee of 30 million euros requested by Fenerbahçe.

Fenerbahçe, which currently aims to win the championship in the Super League and the UEFA Conference League, left this transfer to the end of the season. The yellow-dark blue managers interrupted the player for the end of the season with the Aston Villa club in order to concentrate on the field. This transfer is expected to become official in the summer.

For Ferdi, who was transferred to Fenerbahçe in the summer of 2018 for only 1.4 million euros, the yellow navy blues will earn more than 20 times the testimonial he has paid.
