If Anthony goes he's 24 and writing off his Brazil career

He's a cert to get a season loan to a Sevilla or Valencia I think. No one is buying him for even half what he cost given his dismal stats so he'll have to go to a lower team and get his career back on track before his value picks up to be sold.

And Timo Werner out for rest of season. Not sure how significant these injuries are for them.

Werner been as bad for them as he was for Chelsea so that isn't a loss for Spurs at all, if anything moving Son back to the left and Richarlison back as CF will give them more attacking impetus.

  3. Yep four  deal was a bit ridiculous, Digne got the same aswell I think?

Did he have that long left at Barca as very generous to give him that given his age and the declining performances while he was on loan.

Their fans seem excited about League 1 with uncle Tom set to blow the league away with 50 million in transfers apparently.

There has never been a club as big as them in that league and everyone will be in awe of them. This is what they are saying. Seriously.

Bolton stay down, they're a bigger club than SHA.

Leicester are proof, if you are a "selling club" you're only 2/3 bad transfer windows away from the top 7 to catastrophic failure no matter how much you spend. 100million + on rubbish such as Daka, Christensen, Soumare, Faes, Souttar etc was all that's needed to relegate them and leave them in FFP trouble with limited sellable assets.

Another bad transfer window this summer for Brighton, they could be heading in a similar direction.

Go back a decade and Swansea/Southampton were what Brighton were in the premier league.

  6. Watch them just give it to Pep. Or Ange.🤦‍♂️

No seriously I think Emery will win if we get top 4 + win a trophy which is very possible.

Not like we even spent that much in the summer either compared to other clubs and we've had 5-6 serious injuries to key players ourselves and just got on with it rather than crying about it every five minutes like Ten Hag has.

Saw earlier that he made the most egregious of "come and get me" pleas to Barca.

Just telling all the world his release clause!🤣

Is Pino still seen as a prospect or has he stagnated in recent times?

Think there's a few we could possibly pick up on loan. Unai had Chukuweze at Villareal, he moved to AC Milan but has been warming the bench all season so that could be a loan I think. Bryan Zaragoza at Bayern Munich another.

One thing on Gallagher is he 2 goals against us last 2 games all comps. 6 goals 8 assists all comps for the season is rubbish for what he'd probably cost. He's been shit in other games just seems to turn up against us

McGinn used to score about three a season for us. If we'd put him in the market in summer 2022 I bet we'd still have been asking for 30m +.

Gallagher is still pretty young so I believe some of the weaker parts of his game could be refined under a manager as good as Emery.

Was thinking about this on the shitter this morning.
Let's say it's almost certain that Spurs are going to finish 5th, but *might* be able to catch Villa.

I wonder what their fans would want.

    a) Beat Man City and probably still finish 5th. Arsenal win the title.
    b) Lose to Man City and finish 5th but Arsenal don't win the title.

Honestly, I think most would go for b.

What needs to be remembered is Spurs have played in the CL 7-8 times in the last 15 years so it's simply not the big thing for them it will be for us in qualifying. I think most are just happy they're playing decent football again after the bore years of Mourinho/Conte/Nuno.

Looking at their forums and they certainly don't want "Woolwich" "Goons" "The Flith" winning the league so will be arms crossed and muted response when likes of Son and Johnson are running towards goal in that game for sure.

What a horrible week this will be for any SHA fan, we don’t even need Norwich to win, just don’t lose and they’re gone.

I know they’ve circled the drain previously but this is the worst position they’ve been in right? Out of their hands even if they manage to win.

2014 was the same. Would've gone down if they'd lost but came back from 2-0 down at Bolton in 90th minute. Even then Doncaster would've stayed up matching that result but they lost 1-0 at already promoted Leicester....10 years on Blackburn are at Leicester...

2017 they had to win at Bristol City and did. If they draw they would've been relegated as Blackburn (under Mowbray) won their final match.

The other seasons I think they were safe on the final day even if they had terrible form in the run ins.

As said above they can't really survive with a draw this time unless Plymouth's defence totally implodes so they'll have to go for it at some stage and Norwich have plenty of pace and quality in their attack to exploit that.

Done in both means we fail to get 4th and knocked out of CL. With Emi, we do both.

Olsen in goal means we play deeper to protect him and he concedes 2 plus goals in the majority of games he plays

We can still score at the other end though?

I really don't think the second half was much to do with him at all. I mean we had the Brentford second half collapse with Emi in goal so it's very easy to say he'd just save the Gallagher shot when he likely wouldn't.

Great reading some of the forums today, majority of Spurs fans couldn't care less if Man. City beat them to stop Arsenal winning the game so to me that's one less game to worry about in the run in as will be a very flat atmosphere at their ground on the night.

They need to win at Chelsea imo otherwise it's all but over.

If you're posting £100 mil + profits year after year then maybe you can start shopping more regularly at a higher level for some of your signings (i.e. shop in the £15-40 million market as we did for Luiz, Watkins, Bailey, Pau, etc.)? And then it's quite possible that you could still sell them for significant profit if they perform well (with you probably higher up the table).

Joao Pedro was one, signed him for 30m.

They needed to sign a CM for that amount but didn't and it's cost them as the season has gone on.

We could really use some help from Chelsea who look good enough to beat them, especially at home.

Chelsea have lost one game at home since October. They've played likes of Arsenal and Man.City in that time. Bigger shock would be Spurs winning that.

Spurs are so limited. It's just  a front 3 of pure pace where the tactic is for the wide forward to get a yard and to put it across the box for the opposite wide forward to tap in at the back post, which with Werner and Brennan Johnson is annoyingly successful considering how limited they are as footballers. A bionic man CB to breeze past he opposition breakaways covering up how shit they are defensively (convinced he's not a got good defender) and enough athletes across the pitch to press the opposition into submission. Saying that, that style vrs Chelsea would make it very 50/50, both sides will go for it, it will be mayhem and basically be who takes their chances imo.

Maddison has really gone downhill since his injury, wouldn't shock me if they benched him soon like they did with Bissouma today. Werner also turned out exactly like he was at Chelsea.

Their best bet for the run in is to bring back Richarlison as their best form has come with him as CF, move Son back to the left and have Kuluveski as the number 10 or bring in another CM.

Bournemouth win again. Iraola having a superb season. Think it took him a while to find his favoured eleven and for them to buy into the ideas but since then they've been flying.

One to watch next season. Lots of talented players at his disposal.

Yes I completely wrote him off going into November. Incredible form since then. Also barely had Tyler Adams and Alex Scott available all season so they'll be like new signings for central midfield next year.

We have Brightons number. They find it hard to play against our system.

Yep record v them since coming up is played 11, won 6, drawn 4 and lost 1. Scored 18 in those games and conceded 7 so we're even more of a bogey team to them than Wolves and West Ham are to us in last five years.

sheff utd, yes i'd say that's about as safe a bet as you're likely to get

we need to hope that burnley have a chance of survival though. teams fighting for their lives have a tendancy to spring the odd surprise

Spurs could beat Burnley and Sheffield United 40-0 in each game. It does not matter one bit to us if they get 0 points from Chelsea, Liverpool and Man. City.

Arsenal win today also means Man. City unlikely to go into the Spurs game with the title race over, think Arsenal would need to lose their next two for it to be mathematical which I can't see happening.

  18. Brighton just want the season to end now. Form collapsed now and they were playing a couple of kids today so a very good time in the season to play them. And our record v them since coming up in 2019 is sensational, think it's only one defeat in 11 games so we're in their heads anyway.

I don't really see why it would be an unpopular suggestion. The guy is the single best player in the entire league at turning the ball over in the final third, so if that's a skillset we're looking for (I'm not sure it is) then he would be an excellent signing. He also has a shot on him, and works incredibly hard.

I'm not saying we *should* sign him - have no idea really - but if we were to sign him, it wouldn't be crazy, he's a very good player.

It would be the old "He's British, overpriced and would run around a lot without taking us to the next level" etc.

Those are all things you would've said about McGinn two years ago and look at how he's improved his game understanding under a competent manager. He'd have still gone for 30m + if we'd sold him in summer 2022.

By today's standards he wouldn't even cost that much, probably 40m will get him this summer.

I think we need to continue making sure we sign players who actually want to play for us rather than coming here for a massive payday. Last year the forum was fawning at being linked to Ferran Torres and Joao Felix but in reality neither were interested in signing for us and now they both play for Barca so fair enough. Nico Williams I think could be another. Or he could just stay at Bilbao for a few more years as they'll be playing europa league at least.

Pau Torres however certainly did want to play for Unai again so that's exactly the type we need, wants to come for a new challenge and improve under the Don and in mid 20s bracket. A Torres for DM to keep that ticking over under Kamara is fit again would be perfect and the summer signing we most need.

  20. Blame myself for that. Started watching when Arsenal were 3-0 up and you could already see them being over-elaborate in their moves around the box. In the end they just about got things done but it was very tight and they probably wouldn't if Spurs had got the penalty ten minutes earlier. Spurs were only playing two at the back for most of the last 15 minutes and Arsenal couldn't string any passing moves together with Havertz lumbering around.🤦‍♂️

However the most important thing is this. It's another weekend where we've actually extended the gap between 4th-5th. We started weekend six points ahead and now it's seven.

If it goes to even eight by close of play next Sunday then to me it's pretty much over as then Spurs would have to beat Man. City to have any chance and they won't be doing that as it will hand Arsenal the league.

Generally this would be the case but they got beat by Atalanta and Palace there recently and the season is imploding on them.

They've still only lost one league game at Anfield in over a year. Far more vulnerable on the road as yesterday and the Merseyside derby proved. We need to show a bit more ambition against them and get plenty of set pieces in the final third as Van Dijk can't cover everyone.

Well given how shit Sheffield it, I wouldn't put it past them, I really hope it doesn't come down to GD on final day 🤣

Well yes of course given we went 4-0 up there by half time without breaking sweat. However with Brereton Diaz they are actually starting to score a few themselves. Of course Spurs could win by a fair few but it's completely different to actually having to do it with no margin for error. Currently eight off us in GD and you'd fancy Man. City and Liverpool to stick a few past them with how they play.

Spurs-Burnley will also be far closer than a month ago. Burnley actually have a chance of staying up now, just 2 points off 17th.
