I've been a bit harsh on him today, but I do wonder why we kept him around this season tbh.

He's got more than 20 minutes 3 times all season. He's 20, he'd have been better off having another season in the championship and getting some decent experience in his legs.

Injured first half of the season and I guess Unai wanted to keep him around for squad depth and to see if he's good enough to make an impact here. He's 21 in the summer and while I'd rather keep him it might be another of case of sell with a buy back in order to free up FFP.

He needs Kamara alongside him to be at his best.

He's doing Kamara's job which he's not as good at and McGinn/Tielemans are doing Luiz's job which they aren't as good at.

Up until Kamara got injured you saw Luiz breaking into the box a lot, he got a number of goals arriving late. I cant remember the last time I saw him get in them areas now.

  3. He will bulk up but he's got some much needed height that our CM has lacked for a while. If he can develop quickly he'd be a good option for next season, the issue is how often has he come on for the last 15-20 mins in a game we are comfortably winning and he's under less pressure? The lad is always on when we are in the mud, hard learning curve that.

Would we have held on with Emi still on?

Think he's our most important player tbh.

I think he probably saves the first goal but the general play falls apart without him.

  5. It's a panicked clearance but he's about to head it back to the keeper and he's steaming out the goal and decides to stop right outside the box where he cant pick it up. Olsen puts his hand up after to say it's his fault.

  6. Just a big drop off to the way we want to play, not his fault he's a decent keeper just not for the style we want.

Caused absolute panic at the end by not staying his box and letting Carlos head it back, ran into the middle of nowhere and luckily pulled off a big save to spare the error.

I said after GW29 that using the free hit in that week had been a huge mistake. Not as a dig, it was really really bad luck, but the people that saved their free hit got an absolutely huge advantage from that week being so low scoring.

    This week has confirmed that

The free hit GW34 teams have had the advantage in the end but it can't really be a mistake if it was the right decision before the GW had started, you can't control the results. Very small margins overall with huge variance involved, I played my free hit GW29 because I had about 4 players for it and already had 7 DGW players for GW34, I think it was very team dependent decision for most not because one was a clear better option.

It's a good example of just how much variance plays a part though. Reguilon red card which ruined most the Brentford picks that week and Spurs completely falling apart at Fulham with none of the other main picks even getting any returns at all has to be in the bottom 1-3% of potential point returns, it couldn't get much worse. This GW free hitters were able to gamble on different Arsenal assets like Havertz, White, Odegaard when most have Gabriel/Saliba/Saka nailed all season. Majority of the gamble picks paid off while Haaland was also missing. Everton defenders hauling despite conceding 3xG over the two games and surviving a handful of penalty claims, thinking of that someone should check the VAR guys team for double Everton defence.

I think if you were able to simulate these two GWs again 100 times I doubt you'd get a more polar set of results than the ones we got.

As much as I appreciate what he did for Villa I'd be lying if I said he deserved a crack at the England job. Villa is the only real success on his CV, which is understandably all we care about but Leicester and Norwich especially showed his limitations.

Got a better CV than Southgate so I wouldn't rule it out.

fa cup replays scrapped from next season. this is a major contributor to the blanks and doubles. could mean quite a shift to the way one plays FPL. also content creators might see a drop in views too, as i find the strategy aspect really is where they earn their money

This is better IMO. I don't know if it's possible but having no DGWs at all would be fantastic news.

Everyone at the moment is almost forced into the same strategy or pool of players. Imagine having a bench boost, free hit and TC where you can basically play it whatever week you think is best or suits your team. Currently if you play any of them chips before the first DGW in Feb/March time, then you've made a mistake. Kind of why I said in a previous post the other week I'd like to have them chips available for each half of the season, the first half has no DGWs or postponements (usually) and it would give everyone complete freedom to sort of have fun.

  10. I'd like to know the time difference between keepers taking short goal kicks and long ones. It's a lot quicker to set up a short goal kick so it looks like more time is being wasted when they stand there but in reality I don't think there is.

I'm fed up of inconsistent refs so whatever can be done to take decisions out of their hands and made more factual is an improvement IMO. Make it so every game has multi ball and put a shot clock up of 25 seconds to take the goal kick from the moment the ball goes out of play. Same with corners, throw ins etc, stop having to add 9-10 mins on letting players slow games down.

  11. I can't work out where he can play in this system. He doesn't seem to do that well in the support role to Watkins or the right side of midfield that drifts central. I feel like hes most dangerous sort of on the shoulder/inside of the opposition FB/CB but he never picks the ball up there.

We need to get him and Bailey on the pitch together and when one plays support and the other RM they are almost in each others spaces. Feel they should be on opposite sides of the pitch.

Anybody notice how the ref was chatting at him as he waited to take the pen and Dougie keeps telling him to blow the whistle.

The ref was standing way too close all pen shootout and even moved forward towards the spot as Luiz was on his run up. Couldn't believe what I was seeing.
