  1. Gareth Barry in my opinion. Both suffer from the same flaws, lack of goals, lack of pace/mobility. Both are excellent passers of the football, neither get flustered in position, excellent range of passing, and both vastly experienced They're both very similar players, but if I had to choose, it'd be Barry.

  2. My theory is you could do it with 5 Polar Bears. Maybe you would want 7 bears in your team in case the first part of the plan goes tits up.

You would need at least one bear to sacrifice, it could rush the T Rex and get eaten, but while its getting eaten your other bears would flank the T Rex and push it over. I think 4 bears could push a T Rex over, bears are pretty strong. Especially if the bears are pissed off at seeing their mate die.

Once the T Rex is on the deck then I dont think it would be much of a fight. Though the backup of having 7 bears so you could send at least two suicide bears to the T Rex head on might be a better idea.

If the bears managed to get the T Rex on the deck, they'd win. T Rex's have only got tiny arms, it'd struggle to get up.

  3. It depends..

I wouldn't want to see him back at VP for another team. Lets put it that way. It might help us move on and get a better and more balanced team though.

Barry remains with us, signs new deal and agrees to see out career with us.

We stick with 4-4-2, sign this Steven Defour, turns out to the bollocks, but to accommodate him we need to drop Barry or Petrov? Who's it to be?

I think the above is quite probable, and given the choice, i'd rather keep Barry in the middle. Better than Petrov in my opinion.

  4. I said no before and it's even more of a no after today. He doesn't look interested and he's too slow to get forward or get back. He rarely scores from open play and he offers no protection to the back four. I said we should have snapped Liverpool's hands off last summer.

It's easy saying that now though isn't it, following a poor performance from the team, not just Barry, the team.

Although I wasn't happy with his behaviour in the summer and his attempts to engineer a move to Liverpool, I think O'Neill did the right thing in reinstating him to the side, because he's one of, if not the, best player we've got. He may lack pace, but he makes up for it in another areas and if he does leave in the summer, we'll be a worse side for it and we'll struggle to replace him.

Read my post, i said i said it at the time and i said 'no' before today's game, i'm not just saying it after today.

If we replace him with a younger player with quality, who can actually run, scores a few goals and has the energy to get up and down we will be a better side. What does Barry actually do? He's a good passer of the ball thats about it.

Fair enough, you've been of the same opinion RE Barry since the summer and your post was not based on today, fair enough.

But for the vast majority of the season, he's been in very good form in my opinion.

Name someone better that will come to Villa Park and that we can afford?

Someone like Diego, Moutinho, Defour, they're not in the same role as Barry but i think we need someone different to him. Like i said we need someone with energy, pace, scores goals and has a bit of creativity about them. Obviously a player like that might be hard to get but i've no doubt there has to be someone out there who would come and is affordable, whether our scouts spot them or whether O'Neill goes for them is another matter.

See the size of the job O'Neill has on his hands, fans like you expecting us to sign players like Diego, and when he doesn't you're disappointed. We wouldn't stand a chance of signing players like him, europes best don't look beyond the top four when they want to join an English club. O'Neill really becoming a victim of the success he's had since he joined, expectation has gone through the roof and he's struggling to keep up!

How do you know this Steven Defour is any good? You seen him play? or you basing your opinion on the fact he carries a large price tag?

He gets his scouts out to scour europe and find a potential gem or someone we've never heard of that could come good just not had the chance to shine at the highest level, you'd moan because he wasn't a big name, wouldn't you?

I suggest O'Neill goes back to 4-5-1 for the remainder of the season, drop Gabby because he's in shit form, and add Sidwell to the midfield, more mobility, someone thats going to get tackles in. Either Sidwell or Reo-Coker.

Maybe going back to 4-5-1 for the remainder of the season seeing as our defence is struggling and Gabby isn't scoring, add Sidwell in the middle. Protection for the back four and a bit more mobility.

  7. If he fights again, I don't think Mayweather Snr will be in his corner.

Rumours were rife prior to the Pac fight, that the pair had fallen out.

Apprently Mayweather Snr was turning up late for training sessions etc.

I watched Hatton/Pac 24/7 before the fight, and in one Mayweather Snr made himself late for a training session because he stopped off at Taco Bell. Ricky wasn't happy.

It's wrong to try to put blame on Mayweather for this loss, it's hardly Mayweathers fault that Hatton lost his head on the night, he even asked him what the hell he was playing at after the first round - and for most of the 2nd round it appeared it had sunk in. Hatton actually got caught with that big left hook twice towards the end of the round, the first time wasn't quite as accurate as the 2nd one but it would have taken his head off had it landed cleanly. Then the berk bull-rushed forward right into the same shot again

Mayweather Snr might be a bit of a prick, but he is a very good trainer....can't polish a turd though I'm afraid. My initial pick for this was Pac by late KO and I still think that's what would have happened if Hatton had fought like he did against Malignaggi, and not like he fought against Tszyu.

I'm not blaming Mayweather Snr for Hatton's defeat, the better man won. Just that should Hatton fight again, I can't see Mayweather being in his corner, I don't think they get on anymore.

  8. Floyd is bigger than anyone he's faced. Floyd is better than anyone he's faced. Pac throws wild punches coming forward which Floyd will counter and eventually stop him late on. I think Floyd will have to put in a very good performance to win & it'll be tough, but I don't see Pac winning.

Haven't you learned anything in the last year?

Boxing isn't about size, it isn't about a few pounds. Pac started at 106 and just destroyed two boxers who are naturally a lot bigger.

Mayweather's style means size really becomes irrelevant, doesn't mean anything.

Mayweather will sit on the ropes and Pacquiao will look to pick holes with quick, sharp punches. Mayweather has the perfect punch to disabled a southpaw, the lead right hand.

And there's absolutely no way that Mayweather stops Pacquiao, not a chance.

It's a 50/50 fight that needs to happen.

Yea! Gabby15, have some of that! :winkold:

  9. Yes. He's a top quality player and one O'Neill's going to struggle to replace should he leave. I wasn't pleased with his behaviour in the summer, trying to engineer himself a move away, but he's got his head down since and he's been in top form this season. Kept his word, said he stay to the end of the campaign to see if we made the cut for the CL, but we've missed out. He's given us every opportunity to keep hold of him, but who knows whether we''ll have takers in the summer. Hopefully not.
