For the record I think Levy is a superb negotiator and one of the best chairman in the business.

Interesting that a few Spurs fans don't like him messing about with these deals until the actual deadline. Spurs missed out on champions league by a point last year and incredibly they didn't even win any of their first three games which were the undaunting trio of Newcastle away and West Brom and Norwich at home.

Levy, hero or villain Spurs fans?

i understand that Spurs did try to buy Benteke in January, but were knocked back.  Had they managed to do so, then they would likely have made the CL spot. This may drive them to come to Villa's price now.

Would have been a bit of a waste of money considering he wouldn't have been able to play for them.

    What? Why not?

2 clubs in 1 season rule

Oh my bad didn't realize he had appeared for Genk

  3. Simple as this Villa hold all the cards in this situation, either we get our valuation (25-30m) for CB or he doesn't go anywhere. With it being WC year, he (Benteke) hasn't got a choice but to preform for us or risk losing a starting place to either Vossen or Lukaku; my worry is what the fans will be like if he does appear in a claret and blue shirt again, hostile is my guess to say the least e.g. Barry's first return to VP.

Obviously he has had his head swayed too much by his agent constantly being in his ear about 'how much money he could earn at another club', but he is 22 and can make his own decisions by now, he is sadly greedy like the majority of footballers nowadays; could earn a few lessons from like Gabby or Weimann :)

Greedy like the majority of footballers? Very few people in general turn down the chance at a couple million more a year. Plus playing at a bigger club with more attention fame, etc.  Dunno if its just terrible greed.

  4. ....always liked the look of Jordan Rhodes whenever I've seen him play....which admittedly is not much. However, I think he is capable of making the transition to the Premier League.

He's a great finisher but doesn't contribute much to the build up, Maybe a little worse version of Darren Bent. Don't think Lambert would like him.

  5. Who cares though, you know what, its one player. As long as you have a clear goal in mind and a sound way of getting there, one player leaving (For a huge fee) won't derail you. As long as Villa keep hope of Lambert everything will be fine.

  6. Chris - you were the chosen one...

Watched a related video and one of the quotes was "OK cocksucker, **** with me, and we'll see who shits on the sidewalk!" Dunno if it means anything though

Old Man Said, the only reliable 'ITK' who actually gets bits of info, says that his agent is demanding £100k a week.

His agent is going to ruin Benteke's image and in turn his career, greedy tosspot.

Isn't the agent supposed to try to get as much money for the players as possible though? Should he go in and say, "Eh, maybe you'd be willing to pay 100, but why not just do 60 and call it a deal?

We've offered to at least double his wages, which is somewhere between £40k and £50k.

But then Villa put a 30 million pound price tag on him? If a club wanted that fee for me, I'd want more per week than that. Especially if I just was critical in keeping them up and making them millions of pounds they would've lost out on in the process.

  9. The Aston Villa team bus crashes on the way to a match. Randy Lerner is sat at the back, the players in the middle and Paul Lambert up front with the driver. The bus rolls down an embankment hits a rock, tips over and catches fire.

    Who survives?

    Aston Villa survives.

    It'll survive this pillock too.

Was more thinking Lambert leaps out the front and catches the bus and yells ,"FREEDOM" but I guess your answer works as well.

  10.

I wonder though, is he a Mourinho signing? Mourinho prefers established players not younger ones

I think he's very much a Mourinho style player. Mourinho plays very direct football and it will be a case of 'give the ball to Benteke and let him score' just like it was with Drogba

Stylistically yes it just seems like Mourinho likes to spend on expensive completely proven players, not gamble on young talent. Look at his past signings, most are older no?

  11. Why do we call footballers mercenaries though? They aren't fighting to the death or disregarding loyalty to their country. I think it's really stupid to compare football to war and act like if a player wants money then hes a "mercenary." Its a job, most people want to go the place that pays them the most money or has more prestige, etc.

That said, it's fairly disappointing that he wants to leave already. Still a great player though and shouldn't have a problem getting into whatever new side he goes to. He'll keep getting better as well.

Lambert having another 25 million pounds to spend though could be quite interesting, Maybe it'll all work out for the best.

Edit: I also appear to obssessively use the word though.

  12. Natural flavors is also allowed to hide MSG in America, not sure about your UK regulations. Anyway, back to Bannan, Think he could do decent in the championship?

  13. Wow. Venky's are that bad, huh?

    :)

Haha nah they're the best owners in football clearly. Employed a genius manager in Steve Kean too. Much better than Lambo, I mean, he discoverd Phil Jones!

Edit: Realized ya'll may not get jones reference. Carry on

For when we turn down Spurs offer

    We?

    Rovers fan? :)

Eh watched like 25 Villa games this year and Im on a VIlla forum why not. Venky's just make life sad, you know? Though if Gary Bowyer turns out to be the next Mourinho or Villa rehire Mcleish so VIlla and Rovers end up in the same division, I'd definitely want six Scott Dann headers going past Guzan. (Why Scott Dann headers you ask? I don't know great question)

  15. Any more complaining about Spurs and Levy can now be accompanied by this picture if you wish.

Jesus may not like Spurs but this gif is fantastic. Went on a forum of theirs to see what they thought about Benteke and...
