Cracking game, good old derby. Great result. Hopefully this is not another false dawn and we can get a home win next time around. With the fans backing it could happen!
-
No chance of any points from this game I'm afraid
-
Yes yes yes yes yes yes and yes again.
About time we had options again. I would be there every game.
Wonder if they would allow me to take my old wooden box in for my kids to stand on
-
So far so good.
Another couple second half please
-
Cuellar is the best defender we have at the club bar none IMO. The board/manager should be breaking their necks to sign him up.
100% agree with this. I sometimes think I must be watching a different game to our managers because I can't remember a game or time when his form has ever warranted being dropped

Come on you LIIOOONSSS

VILLA: Given, Hutton, Warnock, Dunne, Collins, Jenas, Albrighton, Bannan, Herd, Bent, Agbonlahor. #AVFC
Albrighton starts. Like this line up.
WOW I like this midfield, but have a slight concern with it cutting it's teeth against Manure. Might watch this now

yep was warned twice by the ref prior to the sending off. really not sure about him myself - i think his agression is covering his shortcomings as a player.
I see this as being aggressive and wanting to win a ball rather than standing off letting the opposition dictate their game on you. He is exactly the type of player we need to give us a balance. I wasn't aware that football had become a non-contact sport, yet!
I hope he plays many games for us this season and becomes a mainstay in the side. Athletic, powerful, with some reasonable ball skills. In front of Delph as far as I am concerned.
-
Went to the game yesterday and thought that with eleven men this was a nailed on home win. Herd was playing very well and sweeping up in front of the defence very tidily.
The sending off, till the day i die I will not understand this decision. At the match, at home on the TV I still haven’t seen anything to justify the decision.
Down to ten men, we didn't seem to have the belief that we could hold on to a 1-0 lead which proved to be the case. Very disappointing.
They say things even themselves out over a season, I can't wait to see what we will get for the bizarre decision that will result in us getting a win, for it to be on an even keel with that!!!!

This is an expected 3 points. Anything less than a win against this level of opposition will be unacceptable.
I woud beg to differ. Have a look at our recent home form against this team and I would say 3 points is far from expected but would be very welcome :winkold:
-
I would accept a draw but think we'll lose 2-0
-
A right back that can cross a ball, this could be fun
Welcome

K L Samual mark 2
Wait till we are away to a real team.
Well at least your giving the lad a chance :winkold:
Agreed. I can't beleive how quckly our own fans are to jump on a player, that in this case got MOM, to say he's not good enough after 1 game.
-
I hope for a 2-0 win, but have a nagging feeling that after last years result Wolves will fancy their chances and steal a 1-2 win. Fingers crossed this isn't the outcome.
-
Good result, very pleasing on the eye. Petrov was excellent first half and some of the forward passes super. Delph complimented him very well and was a close 2nd to MOM. Gabby's goal was a beaut, had Delgado in his pocket. Bannan was a joy to watch when he came on.
More please.
-
He will get a warm welcome from me as he is here to do the best he can for my team.
-
2-0 Villa Bent and Nzogbia to score.
Taking my 7 year old son down today, so a good result will hopefully help put a final nail in the coffin in terms of supporting Manure, Man Cittee or Bolton.
Come On You Lions.
-
Thank feck for that, hopefully 1st of many.
Welcome

Stewart Downing is everything that is wrong with footballers today. Me me me me me me.
-
He just doesn't cut it for me

I hope that we don't give Warnock another chance. He was good when he first joined but he became a liability towards the end of his first season and whenever he played last season IMO. I would call what was going to happen whenever the ball was going to be defended by him and more often than not i was right!
I would much prefer to see us buy a new LB than have to watch Warnock again.
He is not good enough so we need to get in a LB I really don't want Warnock in or around the squad, we should be offering him to anyone that'll listen.
I have to agree with these statements. Putting all the rubbish of last season aside I just don't think he is up to the job of a Premiership LB.

When Ireland played for us he played quite well, then Houllier blasts him in public and he never plays again.. I think much of his attitude at Villa was down to Houllier.
we must differ then, i thought he played ok in one game, did a few nice touches when he came on as a sub in a couple games apart from that was utter and i mean totaly utterly worthless
no effort, passing was terrible especially for one who was supposed to come with a reputation as a fantastic passer, attitude was shocking fitness levels laughable, especially as he made yet another claim ( suprise suprise) that he was the hardest working and fittest player on the training field. wouldnt believe a word out of his mouth
a waster
Got to say this sums up my thoughts and views on Ireland to date.

I can't believe all this, it surreal. Someone please pinch me to wake me up so I can break out of this nightmare.
