  1. I think there needs to be two sets of Android phones, high end 3.0 and low end 2.2 so that it doesn't become too fragmented.

The high end games will have tablets and 4inch+ high end phones all running on 3.0 so I'm sure that's where a lot of the games developers will gravitate.

The lower end phones running 2.2 will be rivals for the outdated iPhone. So they'll need a lot of those simple gimmick games. I have a feeling that's how it'll breakdown next year.

The problem is the technology advances need to slow down, if you buy a HTC phone today it'll be out dated in 2/3 months when they release the next phone. So when we're on 4.3 inch 2ghz phones is there any need at all to make a faster phone? No, I think next year will see the slowing of the hardware advances and more focus on lowering weight and increasing batterylife, innovative new screens etc..

Exciting times ahead, though tablets don't interest me I'm a huge lover of the netbook once you get beyond phone size I want a keyboard. I love my Samsung NC10 I'm typing on now. Though I hope the IBM vs Apple plays out again and their company loses out big time in market share, no less than they deserve.

  2. Yeah I'm on an 18month contract I signed in April, but here in Ireland we have less choice with the operators, like no Evo here at all, Galaxy S only in Carphonewarehouse. So my next phone is going to have to be fully out of my own pocket, but I'm so sold on Android and the future that a 4.3inch screen with awesome hardware backing it up seems like the ideal mobile internet platform to me. It'll be worth the sizable cost considering how much I use it.

How can Apple compete with this handset war? If Google get 3.0 right it could be curtains for the iPhone in 2012

  3. I like having nothing but a big background on my home screen with only a few essential icons there like dialer, messages, internet, camera and google chat. Everything else should be on a different screen. The notification bar is very small on the x10 which is very good imo.

  4. Yeah slowly getting to me this 1.6 lark. Such good hardware on the x10 too, need custom rom but boot loader hadn't been hacked by the xda lads yet.

Adw is an improvement on the x10 home screen anyway as I don't use time scape as I'm not on any of that facebook stuff.

  5. To be honest I'm baffled by this App culture, I have a few Apps that make my phone better to use but I'm a music listner, and movie / tv watcher, I do those things to pass the time when on a bus or train. So I never play games on my phone other than the odd bit of Superbomber man on snesoid when I'm in the toilet.

I want paid apps in Ireland soon, as I've had to get Locale off rapidshare I'd love to give them and Swype a few quid for their application when it is available so I can get updates.

  6. Locale is a must have for Android phones.

Also Rockplayer is very handy as it can play any type of video file under the sun.

Astro file manager is good to have too.

I'm not big into my games other than Snes emulator snesoid, you can then play all the classic nintendo games, which is all you need really.

Plenty of useful widgets to get too like brightness widget, auto rotate widget, 2G/3G widget. I like a kill all tasks widget too.

  7. I just downloaded the Sony Ericsson update for my X10 and Swype stopped working, now I can't install .apk files with an app installer from my SD card like normal so can't reinstall Swype. I keep getting the error "ROM type not supported".

    Edit: fixed it with Astro.

  8. It was Chindie, I've watched 39 of the 50 now so will likely watch the other 11.

Some people will hate The New World as it's like a very long dreamlike poem, the score is exceptional and he uses images of nature better than The Thin Red Line.

I must say I think The New World could be better than excetional, could well be a masterpiece. Must see it again in the next year to see if it leaves the same impact.

  9. The concept that gravity slows perception of time is very interesting. Also that every person experiences the passage of time differently is another interesting idea.

Though my actual practical knowledge of gravity only goes as far as big G and little g, Gravitational Constant and the Acceleration due to gravity on earth (9.8m/s^2).

I do know that the weight of an object is due to gravity, gravity gives weight to mass.

  10. Technology bores? Someone who talks endlessly about technology when nobody cares?

I need a smartphone for the internet. I'd be consigned to the restrictions my work place on the internet if I didn't have one. No gmail, no villatalk, no betfair. I needs them.

  11. Iphone rage!

This is the 2nd one I've had. I only got one in February & it was faulty, so after trailing all the way to Newcastle to the Genius Bar

who gave me a new one, this Iphone appears faulty as well!

I simply cannot get the Bluetooth Jawbone to connect to the Iphone -

Trip back to Carphone Warehouse last Saturday & the guy at the desk says.."Oh Jawbones aren't compatible with Iphones"

So I said. "Why did you lot sell it to me then & if that's the case, why did my other Iphone connect without a problem??!!"

Anyone good with Iphones could tell me what to do? Although I think the phone's blue tooth may be faulty.

Take it back and tell them you want a HTC Desire or a Samsung Galaxy S :D

  12. Just watched "12 Angry Men" for the first time.

Brilliant........if you haven't seen it then you really must

One of my missions in life is to get everyone to see this film. Without doubt the best film ever made. I've rewatched it so many times and have analysed the many themes in it so many times over. I'll never get tired discussing this movie.

  13. It's like Live Nation merging with ticketmaster and now they are buying up venues around the world. So they own the acts music and touring rights, they also sell the tickets and own the venues. Thank god Barack Obama drew attention to this and an antitrust case will be taken against the company.

It may be business but we should not stand for it. Microsoft were taking things too far with the mission to buy out any rival and they were stopped.
