Chairman of the young conservatives - wants the next pm to cut taxes and increase defence spending to help Ukraine.
Round and round it goes !

Obviously we’re only hours or days away from the next Boris Johnson scandal, it’ll be interesting to see how it’s handled by him, the Tories and the media.
Yes a rank outsider will mysteriously appear in the leadership race. Doris Bohnson.
Wearing a union jack mini skirt saying England first and we should tolerate trans.

I think he needs a few weeks to tie up any dodgy loose ends.

long but very accurate description of Boris is career - pretty much as I see it tbh.
"Populists have no answer to a pandemic, for it requires the very things Johnson and his ilk lack and despise: hard work, a forensic grasp of detail, the wisdom of experts, human empathy, a spirit of self-sacrifice and, above all, rules. Of course, he would not follow them. He never had. It had once been part of his appeal"

Can believe he's is staying until the autumn.
I mean how long does it take for the editor of the daily mail to choose our next prime minister.?

Some just described Liz Truss as a "Margaret Thatcher Tribute act" - brilliant.

Interesting times we live in. Sunak in next please.
I just don't think he has it. Looks a bit lightweight to me. Reminds me of George Osborne.

More than "some" IMO.
The system we have of strong tribal adversarialism is disadvantageous. The FPTP voting system gives disproportionate power compared to "the will of the people". The Political party is given higher priority than the wellbeing of the nation. Patronage for donations, the second chamber stacked with cronies and massively too large...I could go on.
Need to keep the BBC + Channel 4 - privatising those is a real threat to our democracy

Really?
We had demonstrations. We had discontent. We weren't even close to a mob storming parliament.
The UK has a wonderful system where the Armed Forces, Police, Judges and Civil Servants pledge allegiance to the Crown. I honestly believe that in my lifetime we will never see anything even close to a Hitler being elected democratically and then dismantling democracy.
Come on - they are dismantling the BBC our independent state broadcaster.
He cocked a snoot at ministerial codes
Seeking to block demonstrations
Broke international law.

When the dust settles, I do wonder which of Cameron, May, and Johnson goes down as the worst PM in modern history (so far).
Still May - She was truly incompetent.
Boris was just as corrupt as hell.

Even though he has been a gernally awful PM and probably one of the most corrupt we gave had, it was probably one of the toughest PM jobs with brexit then covid. Ill give him that although brexit was mainly his fault as he campaigned for it so no sympathy for me on that one
I dont actually think it was.
The Vaccine roll out fell into his lap really - The COVID decisions basically starred him in the face ,The war in Ukrainne probably saved his ass back in Feb/March
All decisions where what to do was pretty obvious.

They say every cloud has a silver lining.
Our political system isn’t perfect. But it’s the best in the world. Regardless of your political view you have to acknowledge that we’ve never had a leader encouraging the population to storm parliament or taking steps to install them self as a dictator. The system is there to stop it.
Bozo is the worst and most dishonest PM we’ve had in my lifetime. But compared to the rest of the world he’s not even on the Top 20.
True. But we got closer to that than ever before.

Pretty predictable, scandal after scandal, almost from day 1.

What are the odds that if we sign another 5 players someone would want more signings because "if those 5 players get injured we're back to the same team as last season"
Agree.
Lots of people think about 10th is where we will finish.
A back up LB isn't going to propel us from 10th to 6th !
Squad more than good enough for 10th imo.

Thee will not be a change of direction, just temporary bribes to the electorate
Depends.
I think the era of the mavericks is over.
All those checks and balances, boring ministerial codes, select committee s etc - are there for a reason.
I hope the Tories and indeed the nation now recognise that.

This week the club have really been spoiling us con questi annunci, on Monday Young's new contract, Trezeguet's departure, Wilson signing, Tuesday Feeney's new contract, Ruesha Littlejohn's new deal, then yesterday Sinisalo's new contract, and Simone Magill signing for the women's team, could even count Gerrard confirming that we still want more players. I wonder what announcements the club have in store for us today and tomorrow
They've mowed the VP grass ?
When we have a new signing in the pipeline I'm sure we will hear about it.

The Tory leadership contest is very hard to predict - in the past there have always been moves to 'Stop' certain candidates - I could easily see there being a stop Patel/Truss/Hunt factions this time around.
I also don't think it will be close when we get to the last two. One of those will be a clear favourite.

Would be an incredible lurch to the left for the Tories (in relative terms)

Do you actually know he is poor, or just guessing? I ask because I have no idea and he seems to have gone to a couple of private schools.
Some refugees flee to protect their wealth as well as their lives.
Good point - no I don't know.
If I were a Tory though - he would be the sort I would go for. I wouldn't want another maverick like Truss/Patel/Baker
