I've got the original release of FSOL's 'ISDN' (which was banned after two days) on vinyl. It's the triple gatefold with the great graphic in the middle. The cover is black, instead of white like the re-release. It's my favourite album by FSOL but does not come close to 'Papua New Guinea' for a track on it's own.

As for Orbital, The Brown album is good, probably their best, but it does not include 'Chime'. Anyone for Leftfield's 'Leftism'?

I saw 808 State play at the opening night of the Sanctuary in Digbeth in 1997. I've always liked them but their set was exceptional. Switching from the old electronic classics to a full live set on drums/guitars with scrathing in place of vocals worked a treat and it rocked! Introducing it with the statement "This is **** rock and roll" got the whole room going.

I like FSOL as well but they are something I could not compare. Global Communication, on the other hand...

Always been a fan of Dylan but don't know enough (barely anything) about Neil Young. It has been my belief for a long time that Dylan is the best lyricist ever. I'm willing to give Young a chance though if anyone can recommend an album.

Brilliant. The latest loop on Sky showed cut price beer in Tesco with a voice-over telling how it is wrong. The problem? They were focusing on Peeterman Artois at £2.48 for a four-pack. IIRC, it's 2% alcohol. Hardly a problem, that stuff.

This is on a non-stop loop on Sky News this morning. The presenter Dermot Murnaghan reckons there is a 'floor' on alcohol prices in France that sellers are not allowed to breach in terms of raising the minimum cost to put children off buying.

I have a number of issues with this. Firstly, children are exposed to alcohol from a young age in France. Alcohol is not a taboo to be investigated in the local park at fifteen. And secondly, when I last visited a French supermarket, I was able to buy a tasty bottle of table wine for about 1E20 - About 80p at the time.

If the government were to try and legislate in such a manner in this country, what would be the starting price for a four-pack of Wifey or a bottle of Stollie?

I'm 32. I had my first taste of alcohol in a park at about 14 the same way most English people did yet in the 18 years since, I have never ended up in a fight, in hospital or arrested.

Alcohol is not the problem, irresponsible fuckwits is the problem, and they are breeding like rabbits.

He did, but in terms of European success, both Celtic (under MON) and Villa2 have gone to the UEFA Cup Final in recent seasons, and Milwall got to the FA Cup Final a couple of years back. The Portugese League is not exactly world renowned, is it...

Portugese League = SPL. Newcastle were regularly reaching the semis of the UEFA CUP until a couple of years ago and their turnover of managers has been comical. Neither they, Villa2 nor Celtic had the finance of Chelsea. Nor Liverpool in 2005. Nor Arsenal in 2006. They (He and Ranieri) have spent near on £500,000,000 in the last four years. We are not going to spend that, but we play in a league with teams that now do.

I disagree. He has had a successful career so far for his age, but he does not have the midas touch. Chelsea have repeatedly failed in Europe under Mourinho, with Arsenal and Liverpool passing them with ease.

MON is a very good manager but does not have the track record of a mourinho as yet.

He doesn't, but as he said when he arrived, he is on a bigger stage now than he has been at any stage of his career. He has taken relatively insignificant clubs to unprecedented successes. He has taken us from (last season) almost certain relegation to looking like a team that will challege anyone on the day. Beating Chelsea was not a blip, it was a sign that we have improved by more than we are giving him credit for.

For ****'s sake, when was the last time we beat a top four club?

MON needs to prove himself capable at the top level in a competetive domestic league like the premiership for starters. Let's hope he proves that with us.

I hate to say it, but I cannot see us getting 85 points this season or next season. I am being realistic. The Premiership is often touted as the best domestic league in the world.

Give the bloke a chance. It's the least he deserves. I trust MON and I believe in the five year plan. The last thing I would want to see at the Villa is a team of mercenaries, egotistical self-centred rocket polishers and journeymen, waiting in the wings to blame a manager for their own shortcomings on the pitch.
