  1. What we should do is make sure that he's happy above everything else, and then he'll play to his best ability. We should probably give him preferential treatment, and also make sure he never has to see the crap city of Birmingham. He might have to just play away games. That's okay, because he's probably only happy playing in Manchester. Tell you what, lets try to get the league changed to involve us playing 19 teams from Manchester to make sure he's happy. And obviously we won't be able to play at home. I feel that if we do this, we'll see the best of Stephen Ireland.

  2. I think players like Makoun should make use feel positive about next season.. Yes we have lost Young and may lose Downing, but we have Makoun, Delph, Albrighton if we keep Downing we have one strong midfield. It's not all doom and gloom even if it feels like it right now.

TBH - a midfield of Makoun , Delph and Albrighton is the stuff of nightmares. 2 of them are pretty injury prone - and the other will I feel crumble under the weight of expectation.

I think we could get away with starting with one of those.

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

  3. Cant wait to see Jean play next season, we could have a real player on our hands if he settles in.

    .......and if he isn't injured

And if he learns not to get sent off every other match and manages to keep up with the pace and physicality of the Premier League.

Nailed on winner, I would say.

sent of once in 7 appearances. what are you talking about?

  4. You cant really blame Downing for wanting to leave .....?

    - Financially refusing to back MON constantly - one of the top PL managers and then come out

    - Turning down RAFA as manager

    - Reducing players wage bills

    - Best other players leave the club Milner and Young....!

Players are not stupid they will not hang around a club that lack financial ambition and live in forcefull pretense of Champions Leaugue dreams.

For all the people that savaged MON - we are about so find out what mediocrity mid table it like again....!

Sorry, did I just read refusing to back MON?

£100 million and a wage bill that surpassed Spurs and was 90% of our revenue.

    What a load of shit.

No you did not just read "refusing to back MON"

You read "Financially refusing to back MON constantly"

    There is a difference.

One of the main reason why MON quit is because the money from the JM transfer was not going to be spent again. He was then told it was important that the wages were reduced.

With the competition of Man city, Spurs and Liverpool we needed to spend 20 -30 million just to stay in 6 th position.

MON was backed when he was at Villla no doubts about that but not in his last season, hence why I used the word CONSITANLTY.....!

i'm not sure that you did. consistently or consitanlty.

anyway, you can't spend money you don't have. MON wasted money, and we couldn't afford to spend more. he was told to get rid of the players who were on first team money but struggled to make the bench, because it would then mean we could afford to spend more on top players. he didn't do this, so wasn't given the money.

we don't have an endless pot and the board have never insinuated otherwise. we might have "needed to spend 20-30m" but we couldn't afford to throw that sort of money around AND have such a high wage bill. think about how much money was wasted on the likes of sidwell and beye, and what sort of player we could have bought if they weren't on the books.

and it astounds me that some fans don't get this.

  5. But if that Supermarket appointed a previously convicted paedophile

While I understand the point of view that you are putting across, I think its maybe time that Villa fans stopped thinking of Birmingham in these kind of terms. I know that many do, but I think its small time. Villa's rivals are Spurs, Liverpool, Everton and Man City. Birmingham are a nothing club of no more matter to us than Coventry. I think we give them more attention than they deserve.

Oh, and McLeish isnt a paedophile ( I guess). He is just, to use your analogy, a Sainsbury's manager who has been employed by Tesco in the past.

More a Waitrose manager that was employed by Lidl

  6. Has anyone considered that the photo itself may be real but the scarf has been added.

    Yep.

TRS-T, depending on what camera is used, and in what lighting, colours can look totally different. especially on a phone camera which is most likely with this. check this link for a quickly found, poor example of what i mean

  7. There's Liverpool fans discussing this (and this thread) on liverpoolfc.tv, but you have to pay to register there, no thanks.

So i'll address them here, hi, we're pretty sure it's not a fake, the only reason to question it is how much of a stupid thing it is for a player to do. As for our valuation of him, don't piss away that much money on an unproven player that has had one good PL season in January, and then do the very same this summer, and expect to get Downing for cheap. As ridiculous as £25m might sound, it's your club that drove the market there in the first place.

  8. The hand above Downings is the girls hand.

And theres four fingers holding the scarf up, with a bottle on the bar making it look like theres more fingers than are there.

    This photo is real lads.

Apart from the fact that the scarf COULD indeed be an England scarf which has been photoshopped by a bin dipper??

    Clutching at straws tho methinks.

    Stewie. You tosser.

yep, i would suggest that if it is photoshopped, that is the only way it could have been, i'm pretty certain that Carroll, Downing and the bar lady were all holding up something. It'd also be very well done.

Anyone know if when you send a photo from a phone to twitter it keeps the EXIF data? i tried to check it but there was none attached to it, in the same way if you upload to facebook it clears the EXIF.

  9. Has to be a fake - most importantly because there appears to be an extra hand in that photo that can't belong to any of the three of them. Also would question how the scarf is being held up on caroll's side, unless its glued to him.

Downing's head compared to his body underneath the scalf looks a bit maligned too but that could just be the angle he was at.

womans right hand on carrolls side, holding the scarf against carroll. womans left hand on the scarf over downings shoulder. downings left hand on the end of the scarf (with a glass bottle just above which may look like another finger, but it isn't). downings right hand pouring a pint of san miguel. carrolls left hand on the womans shoulder, carrolls right hand pointing off camera towards gerrard and carragher laughing their smug faces off. nothing isn't accounted for.

  10. Hi General,

I want to ask you a few questions about AM being a bluenose, protests, Paul Faulkner, kits and sponsors.

Not really. I was wondering, now the new manager is in, what approach the board and Alex might be taking towards our more coveted players and their futures? In the case of Ashley Young, is it as we were before the manager change over, or is there a possibility for more talks since we've taken a new direction? Also, in terms of the other coveted players, are we looking at talks towards new contracts?

  11. good. can't stand Bentley, him and Ireland fell from the same arrogant-and-mostly-useless-prick-with-talent-they-will-never-fulfil tree.

I'm trying to think of the biggest dickheads in football that would never work together.

    Diouf ____

    ____ Barton Ireland © Bentley

    ____ ____ ____ ____

    Lehmann

There's a lot more arrogant England fringe/ex-u21 players that could fill those roles.

  12. C'mon Randy, bring Laursen back as manager and Mellberg as his number 2. Let them sort this shit out.

I would genuinely prefer this, despite their lack of any experience. At least I would feel comfortable backing the management team. At least it would still feel like Aston Villa. And if it failed, oh well, on to the next manager.

It just seems ridiculous, despite the myriad of other reasons why we shouldn't be hiring McLeish, that we would hire someone that will never ever win over a considerable portion of the fans. It is inevitable that McLeish won't last at most longer than a few years, so what is the point?

£1000 to VT if McLeish builds a legacy at Villa Park.
