i hope they don't select him. I'd love for him to have 4 weeks of training and part of getting used to Emery's new tactics and being all fired up for January.

No need to unless the medical team clears him 100%.

  2. I think my main problem is the disconnect in tactics and how you convey what you want your players to do to them. It has gotten better, but it's a bit like running in syrup trying to get your players to do simple things. IRL it's just 'if this happens, try to do this'. Not so in FM. 😅 You need a role and a mentality and possibly an instruction, but they all interact in weird ways that must essentially be learned first.

    That's the dream.

The fans are key to this. we have to give the new staff time. If we get hosed by man utd I can promise people will want him to be sacked! It needs to stop. This guy isn't a punt like Gerrard. He's the real deal, give him time to implement and mould a team

Yeah, his credentials alone are enough to shut me up for a couple of years. Give this man enough time and good things will come if we are prepared to wait.

What are people's thoughts if he chooses to primarily stick with 4-4-2?

It depends on how we act in and out of possession. I said this under Gerrard as well, but no-one puts 11 bodies on the field before kick-off and then keeps the shape trough the game. It's all about the shape we take in different phases of the gama. That is all I care about in terms of formation.

Whats speculative? This is not some urban legend, it's well known Purslow adored him at Liverpool. Also well known he dabbled in signings

Neil Lennon won a few sectarian titles and only team that wanted him in England was broke Bolton. Nothing on Gerrard entire CV said he was the only candidate we could get except his Purslow connections

Just about everything related to the hiring and firing of Gerrard and Purslow's possible actions, non-actions and motives for doing things. Spe. Cu. Lation. Pronounce the last part with an annoying french accent.

I feel like a stuck record but nobody knows this.

    It's all just conjecture.

But I'm tired of arguing the point now so I'll just leave it here.

Don't, because you are spot on. Problem is it's much easier for people to latch on to the speculative bollox that feeds their emotions rather than trying to stick to logic and what we actually know. You're fighting the good fight.

or a linked tablet or other device, PS5 running the full game whilst im looking at ratings and fitness on my phone, that would revolutionise the game

that said id still play text only with goal replays 😋

I actually love the 3D engine. I've been playing since the first game, and I think that was the biggest improvement for me. 😅

You made the right choice Unai…

That Sid Lowe dude dug himself a proper hole, and when called out he decided to keep digging.

    Absolutely clueless.

Chatting to a Arsenal fan and he said it felt he didn’t really have a plan and they were also way too attacking. Leaked a lot of goals and just relied on Auba to bail them out. Now I wonder how much of that was in his remit after Wenger because I always saw Emery as a more defensively minded manager.

So now he's too attacking? I'm not sure I trust your friends football analysis skills. 😏

Won't take 90 minutes for many...😃  As soon as the first starting 11 is put up an hour before his first game will set some off.....

Just imagine when he names McGinn in his first Villa 11. 😬 people will be screaming for Danks.

The feature I would like, and no idea if it's actually in the game or ever has been would be around using two monitors.

The 3d pitch stays on one monitor, and then you can affect changes, tactics, subs etc on the 2nd monitor with the pitch still open. Failing that having a companion app on a table that lets you do this as long as your on the same wifi connection. Some software allows this, I just think for FM it would be an absolute game changer, and allow me to realise my dream of having the 3d match up on my 58" bastard whilst able to make tweaks using a separate screen.... Just like a real manager.

That is actually a really good idea. I run a multi-monitor set-up and would love this.

This one I've not tried, in part because reviews seemed poor. Assume you are a fan?

Yeah, loved it. Unfortunately it died relatively recently, something I sort of caught wind of during a recruitment meeting with the company sometime before they announced the 'pause in development'. I love ancient histroy and Rome specifically, so that plays a part as well. They did a MASIVE overhaul after the poor release, and it was essentially a new game with the Marius update.

Also, I caved and pre-ordered Victoria 3 this morning. 😅

I disagree with the comments suggesting that he doesn't have an identity.

I posted the below in the tactics thread.  Emery uses a range of formations but they all fit within a philosophy of how the team plays together as a unit.  His teams play a high line, are compact and purposeful.

I also shared a link to this video of him explaining how Sevilla tactically defeated Liverpool.  The guy is a tactical master.

Indeed, identity is so much more than just a mentality and formation. It principles, enabling certain patterns instilling an ethics in all you du, no matter the details.

Arsenal fans wanted rid of Wenger and Arteta.

Also, like or not, we are not of Arsenals stature. They demand more from their managers than we do due to their position relative to us, not just in terms of league table but stature in the footballing world. What they think of him has little bearing on what we NEED. And on paper this looks just like a manager we need.

  15. We need patience. The man isn't even officially on the books yet. He isn't a magician, and even though he comes here carrying the best CV of any Villa manager in my lifetime, nothing should be taken for granted. There's lots of work to do, and he looks like just the man to do it, but I fear we might be getting a bit carried away lol

    Sorry.

I was keen on Emery from the time he was first linked, but I've got to say, the more I read about him the more convinced I am.

    He's the real deal.

This is the key for me. We can't predict the future, obviously, but this man has the experience and knowledge to build something great here, and while there are potential risks, you can't really eliminate them all anyway. I'm even more pleased by Emery than I was for MON, and I really liked MON.

This is now our future to **** up. It's all in our hands now, and I can't wait to see what Emery can do at Villa.

Anyone seem this? A couple of things .. NO " we " dont believe the boardroom should have listened to the 42 year old.

Aside from that, the more that comes out about signings, the more it seems like they realised they had f*cked up early 😂

Why on earth would Gerrard make Carlos vice-captain if that was true?

Emery is definitely NOT a tier below Pochettino/Tuchel etc. if he had a FIFA rating it would be around 85/86. Pep/Klopp would be in the 90’s. Pochettino /Tuchel around 88

    Dyche would be 99. 😬.

You cannot contain The Dyche within a simple 0-100 scale. He transcends simple grades.

Jesus Christ, you guys turn to bad fantasy literature cliches when judging our new signings. ‘Oi! We had one o dem foreign blokes here once’s. He was shit.’  😅

We aren’t Arsenal, Emery isn’t the Dr, and we write our own **** future no matter what came before. Then the page Villa.

In terms of CV, this is the best we’ve ever had.

This combined with what Haaland is doing, wake up guys! They are trying to tell us we live in a simulation!

He’ll have some pretty difficult games to begin with. Next 5 are Newcastle, Man U, Brighton, Liverpool and Spurs. If he can create some sort of new manager bounce there — give him the keys to the city.

    Pfft,easy 15 points.

Of course I’m not certain, but there was a telling phrase used after Gerrards dismissal along the lines of NSW are determined to make the right appointment and the search was being led by Nas. Reading between the lines it suggested Purslow and Lange were on thin ice.

I am playing devil's advocate here, but it could be a case of Purslow feeling guilty and a bit taken aback by getting it wrong and just accepting that yeah, I'll take a backseat on this one.
