  1. We can slag them all we want, but they are doing better than us and in a cup final. stone and glass house springs to mind!.
SHA are one place above us in the league - that's it. They still have shit fans, shit players, shit history, shit stadium and sell less tickets for a Carling Cup semi-final than we do for an FA Cup 3rd round game.
and what has all of that got to do wth them being better than us this season, and having a better manager might i add??.

For the love of god give it a rest!! Polluting every single thread with your utter bile is starting to wear a little thin. Are you so bored that you need to resort to the same boring thoughts and opinions on a constant loop?

As we all know, getting to the Carling Cup Final means absolutely **** all unless you win it. I was at Wembley last year, and believe me, just getting to a final was no consolation at the final whistle.

They are on the same amount of points as us this season despite investing heavily in the summer transfer window, having a settled first 11 throughout the season, not having a managerial change to contend with and having very few injuries.

We are having a bad time at the moment, but will improve. There whole existence has been nothing but bad times, and shows no signs of improving.

How do you know we'll improve eh?, i have heard that line from people like you since october and we are still muck, like it or not SHA have had a better season than us with lesser playing staff also.

How do you know we wont improve? Define "better season" to me? The questions you seem hell bent on chucking at other people can just as easily be answered by yourself.

By "people like you" I imagine you mean people with a sense of optimism, a little bit of belief and faith in the people at Villa that we will turn it around.

Ask your general Bluenose this, and they wont be half as optimistic as the majority of Villa fans are. Which says a lot.

Darren Bent set for talks with Aston Villa after Sunderland accept £18 million bid

Villa made an £18 million offer for the Sunderland striker Nigel French/Empics

Darren Bent travelled to the Midlands this morning to discuss personal terms and undertake a medical after Aston Villa had an extraordinary bid of £18 million for the England international accepted by Sunderland.

In a development which demonstrates that Gerard Houllier, the under-fire manager, retains the full confidence of Randy Lerner, the club’s owner, despite the threat of relegation, Villa are prepared to smash their transfer record to sign the centre forward. The deal, were it to proceed, would send ripples through the January market.

Villa have agreed to pay an initial fee of £18 million, rising to £24 million based on appearances and other factors, to Sunderland, who bought Bent from Tottenham Hotspur for £10 million rising to £16 million in the summer of 2009. There are unconfirmed suggestions that Stephen Ireland has been offered in part-exchange.

Villa, who are presently fourth from bottom of the Barclays Premier League, have picked up only 15 points from a possible 51 under Houllier, but such a significant outlay suggests that Lerner and his directors are backing the Frenchman.

The move will dismay many Sunderland supporters, who have formed a firm bond with Bent after his relocation to the North East. He has scored 32 league goals in 58 appearances for Steve Bruce’s side, won player of the year awards from both fans and the media and embraced life in the region. The club are due to release a statement later today in which they will say that Bent submitted a transfer request.

As the leading English goalscorer in the Barclays Premier League for 2010, Bent will be difficult to replace. He provided 50 per cent of the team’s tally in the division last season - when, during a difficult winter, they were on the fringes of the relegation skirmish - and played every game, while he has mustered 11 goals in all competitions this time.

Bruce will, however, be permitted to reinvest the funds and while he had anticipated a quiet transfer window, restricted to loan signings, he will now bring forward his plans to reshape his squad.

The manager has a longstanding interest in signing either Villa’s Stewart Downing or Charles N’Zogbia, of Wigan Athletic, both of whom are left wingers. He has also been monitoring Sebastian Larsson, who is out of contract at Birmingham City this summer.

Bent’s departure would, however, leave Sunderland short of options in attack. Asamoah Gyan has scored eight times since his £13 million summer arrival from Rennes, but Danny Welbeck, who is on loan from Manchester United, is their only other recognised striker and he is presently recuperating from a hamstring injury. Bruce would love to sign Welbeck on a permanent basis, but United have thus far shown little willingness to sell.

After Sunderland’s 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on Sunday, Bruce described reports linking him with United’s Michael Owen as “bull****”, but there might be logic in a short-term signing such as that. He could also transform Nedum Onuoha’s loan from Manchester City into a permanent deal, which would free up another domestic loan.

    Unbelievable transfer if true.

  6. Seems he put more effort in his celebration for that goal than he did throghout his Villa career. As funny as this was, hes not a legend, more a **** who wasted undeniable talent. Not to mention millions of our clubs money.

Kin ell, not you as well!

I love the celebration matey! Without question he's one of us, proper Holte Ender' till he dies!

But it still annoys me slightly people calling him a legend. Much overused word.

    My rant is over. Amen.
