  1. This is at the bottom of todays "Gossip" column on the BBC football page

    priceless

    AND FINALLY

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has defended his decision to turn down a move for Wilson Palacios in 2007 - even after Spurs paid Wigan £12m for the Honduras international. "I saw Wilson play in a Birmingham Cup game against Banbury and he looked OK, nothing more than that." (Daily Mail)

Mcleish is right though. Palacios is no way near as good as, and wait for it...

    Barry Ferguson.

    Lee Carsley.

    Lee Bowyer.

I love SHA, they make me smile.

  2. Haven't cared about this comp since the Moscow debacle

Or after the Prague result when we started fielding what were so clearly understrength teams and we started treating the competition with contempt, contempt it perhaps deserves.

i trekked over to hamburg to see banana man and marlene embaress us.

and therefore havent given a **** about the uefa cup since then.

i feel martin agrees with me.

**** him. and **** this ridiculous notion that were going to be anyway near a top 6 club this season.

  3. Yeung in Birmingham cash pledge

    Carson Yeung

Yeung failed with a bid to buy Birmingham in 2007

Hong Kong billionaire Carson Yeung has pledged to spend up to £5m of his own money on new players once his company takes over Birmingham City.

Yeung's company, Grandtop International Holdings, bid £57m for Birmingham last week but has yet to take full control.

"I have already contacted some players. I personally will invest £4m to £5m pounds," said Yeung.

Meanwhile, Grandtop's chief operations officer Sammy Yu confirmed Birmingham manager Alex McLeish will be kept on.

Yu also confirmed managing director Karren Brady will stay at St Andrew's once the takeover is complete.

Despite spending £20m on new players since winning promotion last season, McLeish claimed at the start of this campaign that his side were still not strong enough to survive in the Premier League unless more money was made available for new signings.

Since then Birmingham have made a solid start to the new season, with a win over Portsmouth, a draw with Stoke and defeat by Manchester United.

Grandtop chairman Yeung said his initial goal is for Birmingham to stay in mid table of the Premier League this season before pushing on.

"When all the arrangements are in place, when strong players arrive, our results will improve," he added.

"Before the 1 September transfer deadline, I hope I can buy some useful players."

Yeung's company, which failed with a bid to take over Birmingham in 2007, already holds a 29.9 % stake in the club and is waiting for shareholders to take up the £1-per-share offer.

Grandtop appointed former Liverpool and England midfielder Steven McManaman to the company's board in July 2007.

And Yu said he expects McManaman to play a role under Birmingham's new ownership.

"Of course, when we have an icon like that, we hope he can contribute his knowledge about football to the club," he stated.

"I'm quite sure he will part of us in the day-to-day operation. Surely he will be our ambassador."

Hmmm, not sure where to begin with this.

    But.....

£5,000,000? Think you'll need more than that sunshine.

He's buying his own players. Zheng Zhi anyone?

McLeish already admitted they're not strong enough to stay up? Brilliant!

    Steve McManaman? Nuff said.

  4. tell me some of your targets then?because i cant think of one.
we dont blab all over the place about our targets, unlike wearpig and the gang..we'll have our players dont you worry..our targets are at a higher level than yours so are a little harder to get..

Couldnt have said it better myself matey.

And Sheldon, it may well be that your board of idiots want to blab to the world about trying to sign Barry Ferguson (hahahaha!), but we do things with a little more respect, panache and business acumen down at VP.

  5. Villa win the Premier League v England winnng the World Cup?

My brother and I bicker about this regularly. Hes a villa fan too, but thinks the party atmosphere in the country tips him towards England.

Im a Villa fan also, and i dont give a **** about the country partying. All i care about is rocking and rolling in Birmingham having seen Martin Laursen lift the trophy.

Were both season ticket holders, i think hes just a bit weird

Is there any way of getting a poll on this?

Might be an interesting vote, but im hoping for a Villa landslide victory!

  6. General, please do not take these outbursts to heart! Fans are just reacting to todays news and it's struck a chord big time. I'm as annoyed as the next fan when it comes to this whole barry saga, but the other issues that's being spouted on here and to you are really unfair. I'm almost willing to say that it comes across being really ungrateful for everything that's been done since randy and yourself, along with martin, came into this club.

Would I like to see more players? Absolutely. But not at the cost where it would cause a split between randy and yourself with the fans. And as you've stated countless times, you have no business in the transfer dealings and martin & randy are working hard hard to bring in players, so I think it's really unfair to read the flack you're receiving on here.

I'm sure a man such as yourself doesn't need any sort of encouragement from a young lad like myself, but please dont take these posts to heart.

    Thankyou General.

    You see General,

I simply do not agree with this post. And i know for a fact a lot of villa fans who wouldnt either.

Today's reaction is NOT because of TODAYS NEWS. It has been building for some time now. If AVFC had signed an amazing midfielder to replace Gareth Barry then you wouldnt have had the same reaction...BUT

We havent. and we look lacklustre in the transfer market.

Villa Fans are dissapointed General. I think you need to look past all the 'ass kissing' that you get in this thread. Not everyone is with you General.

People will come on here and praise you because your rich, succesful and powerful, i wont
. I look out for AVFC and the results ON the pitch.

You have to sometimes put forward what you think general and i think your honeymoon period may come to an end soon. I for one do not believe everything you say.

    Upthevilla

The highlighted bit their General, and I hope you dont mind my Marines language, is absolute bollocks. Do not take the comments from people like that to heart. They are an absolute minority, possibly even a minority of 1.

I have a question though General, after weve beaten Man Citeh on the opening day, may i buy you a pint?

    Cheers,

    Si

  7. And a happy Sunday morning to you general!!

Just wondering, as were soon to be facing a team so disgusted by their owners actions that there preparing an anti US demonstration - if Randy, yourself and the rest of the "new" Villa know how much the fans cherish you?!? Wouldnt swap you all for all the Roubles in Russia!

    Cheers General!

  8. First chance ive had to post this, as i havent been near a computer, but yesterday, I saw Mr Reo Coker outside the apple stroe in the bullring. The brief convo went something like this:

    Me: "Nigel!"

NRC: "Alright mate, how you doing?"

Me: "Good mate. You all ready for Sunday? Good Luck!"

NRC: "We dont need luck. Were ready".

Hand shake and end of exchange.

    That boy is pysched up.
