  1. I believe I believe that MON and the Villa board are doing their best. I believe that things happen in transfer negotiations that mean what starts as an interest in a player can become less of an interest as the price changes. I believe that in 5 years time we will be in a much stronger position than we are now. I believe that MON will take us there. I believe that children are our future, coach them well and let them lead the way. :winkold:
  2. What about Eto'o linked with Liverplop, could be leaving?! What about Owen, now that Laursen is fit, we have an empty bed in the Villa hospital.
  3. Earlier story about him on Skysports Chelsea have been linked with a move for Afonso Alves, after Piet de Visser travelled to watch him action for Heerenveen against Willem II. De Visser, one of Roman Abramovich's top advisers, saw Alves score a hat-trick in Heerenveen's 3-1 victory. The Brazilian, who joined Heerenveen from Malmo last summer, is the Eredivisie's top scorer with 29 goals from 29 games. However, de Visser was less than impressed by Willem II's defending and doubts whether Alves would be so prolific in a different league. "In the Netherlands there is very bad defending," De Visser told Algemeen Dagblad. "You could have seen it also here. "Maybe it's just once that he bags 30 in a season." A striker getting 30 goals in a season for us, once wouldn't be too bad
  4. mELLBERG Don't worry about that, Laursen will be injured.
  5. Aston Villa sound out Mertesacker tribalfooball.com - June 06, 2007 Werder Bremen defender Per Mertesacker is attracting interest from Aston Villa. The Germany international has attracted a £4 million enquiry from Villa this week and is said to be keen on a move to England. http://www.tribalfootball.com/article.php?id=42639 :winkold:
  6. It would be deeply dippy if it was true though
  7. Rumours MON is looking to bring in Shaun Wright from Chelsea, Gerald Cid from Bordeaux & Fred from Lyon. Press conference for tomorrow afternoon: Villa sign Wright Cid Fred. At least the half time entertainment would be sorted.
  8. I wouldn't be interested in signing Smith for any significant amount, non goalscoring strikers are not in real demand. We have had too many of those in the past, I think we should go more for the goalscoring kind of striker. :?
  9. I was talking to a couple of Blues fans last night, they both said Sneijder would never come to Villa, he would be wanted by all the top clubs, and just in case he did, he wasn't really that good anyway. P.S. I think the exact fee required is £11,000,013.59
  10. I am shocked  You can't even spread idle rumours without someone stealing them. I'm gonna have to have a word with the General. :x
  11. Bartons having a psychiatric assessment at Newcastle. :x Hopefully that means theres no chance of him coming to Villa. Cabbies can all relax now. :winkold:
  12. I don't think theres a shortage in Amsterdam either
  13. Yes Tomaszk A little Irish fella with a twinkle in his eye
  14. As far as I know there is no agreement yet, £4M may be the opening offer, but I have been told that he would welcome a move to Villa. the club obviously wouldn't want to lose him, but if they ended up with a deal more than they paid, they are not the sort of club to hang onto a player who wants to move. I think the fact that he would be moving out of the Bundesliga would also help, as they would not like to sell him onto one of their rivals. Call me gullable, but I believe you. Obviously a discerning and intelligent man :winkold: the other factor in our favour is that he is not the sort who goes looking for "London lifestyle", many players coming over to England want to live in London, even if they have to sacrifice their career and play for Tottenham. I think he would settle well in Little Aston.

  16. He's immense on Football Manager Will have to offer more than that as they just bought him last year for 5.25m from Hannover. Doesn't make sense to me. Did they not qualify for Europe or something? I think they paid around 4.5M Euros, so an offer of £4M (maybe just an opening offer) would be approx 6M Euros
  17. is this paul meatpacker(english translation) any good then?we need another proper quality defender or two. Had a good world cup, not the biggest name, but will be a regular in the German national team for a long time. Not a bad price either for an international centre back at 23 years old.
  18. I have it on good authority from a personal friend of the man, that Villa want Per Metersacker and have offered Werder £4M. He only signed for them after the World Cup but they could double their money by taking Villas offer. I understand that he is keen on the move. A good young German international centre back to create real competition. After all we can't rely on Larsons dodgy knees. :winkold:
