  1. Bjælland

Is it the immature schoolboy in me who sees this as Danish for Bellend?

    It is :-)

Can see I misspelled his name. He is called Andreas Bjelland and plays for Twente. Used to play with Okore at FCN and was also consider to be ahead then. Was the star and was sold before Omore went to us.

  2. It is all good having possession, but the trick is to do something with it and make it count. For me all that matters are results. For me we could play 10-0-0 and score from a corner in the first minute - as long as we win. I just want us to win stuff.

  3. Great news. Loosing Vlaar is one thing, but loosing Delph would be really hard to stomach. He can be our new Milner. And with Tom and Andi we could have a really good midfield for a few years to come.

  4. I've yet to see anyone say that they accept that this is his philosophy and that there happy with it as long as it begins to garner better results.

Let me be the first. I enjoy counter attacking football, I did under O'Neill and should Lambert begin to move us up the table with it then I will again. I also appreciate excellent defensive displays such as the one against Liverpool.

    I'm fine with the style.

That's your prerogative and I respect that.

I'd quite like to see a topless Kelly Brook playing up front and challenging for headers.

Just don't expect either to get you too far. :)

Comments like that has to be applauded :-)

  5. I think he looks very very good. And if we have had a little more confidence and self believe then we could have hurt City even more. Looks a good buy for me and I can see us taking over Evertons place, just outside the top, in the near future. But then I am alway optimistic :-)

  6. We all know he is too good for us. But other clubs won't come in for him big time this summer unless he has a stormer. So then we won't make a huge profit and he won't sign with two years left. We need to increase his wages now to maximize the use of him or profit on him.

We don't need to increase his wages until he proves that he is fit enough to last the season.
I disagree. He is our only world class player and if we want to keep him we have to take a chance. If he proves himself worthy of a new contract then do you think we are the only ones who sees that?

Thankfully you are not the one handing out contracts.

Touch of the Martin O'Neills you have got there.

I can see what you mean. But IF and that is a big IF we are ever going to claw our way back to the top, we need world class players. Due to the FFP we can't buy them so we need to find gems like Benteke and hold them for as long as we can. At some point we will be forced to sell him, but a that time we need crazy money for him. That is why I want to tie him up for at least one more year. It might cost us 10-15K more a week. That is 720K a year + the extra years wages that is 1 mill. In all less than 2 mill for a move that significantly strengthens our hand or gives us a year more of a world class player. Is that to big a gamble? I don't think so.
Are you saying that he's world class?

When he is at his best - yes I think he is world class, not the best in the world class. Apart from the spell last fall when he was injured, his goal per game ratio is crazy for a team in the bottom of the PL

And are you seriously comparing an extension to Benteke costing 2 mill tops with the signings of Harewood for more than I care to remember and Super Heskey? And are you basing all this on doubts that Benteke will get back to his best? I think he will, but it might take 6 months and then how much good will he have done us this season? and will his price be as high as it should?

  10. I think PL is a very good manager and I very happy that he is here for the long haul. What we need is stability and a manager with an eye for a good bargain in the transfer market and PL has that.

    Stability? Could have kept McLeish.

Eye for a bargain? It's hit and miss - like most managers.

Some of the worst performances I have ever seen from 20 years of watching Villa and he's yet to prove to me we are heading anywhere with his "style".

Me too, but then some of the worst circumstances as well. The squad is just not strong enough and PL has never been giving funds to make it stronger than it is. In fact he has wasted very little of our transfer funds and the biz we have done this summer is just amazing. We have spend less than everyone bar one and still look a lot stronger for it.

So I am happy with his performance.
