  1. With regard to the Sun article we do not know the question asked of the agent, could have been along the lines of 'Has Fat Sam been in contact' answer 'No' would Nigel like him to call' answer as in the Sun. I feel that NRC is signing for us, if the Barcodes wanted him I am sure the deal would be now completed ala the Carew/Baros deal. Good signing, big improvement on Gav.
  2. Fred's career record for scoring is a little over 1 goal in every two games for his club sides (52 in 96) although he is not a regular at Lyon. He is 6 foot plus and maybe would rotate with Carew as a target man, is also a regular squad memeber for Brazil National side.
  3. I thought Darren Bent has gone on holiday and is not even considering his future until he returns, do you think his holiday would involve a visit to Apres in Mere Green?
  4. Rumours list on OS linking us with Carlos Martins of Sporting Lisbon, he seems to an injury prone attacking midfielder?
  5. At the moment I cannot see Barton signing for anyone with the impending criminal charges hanging over his head, as I believe he is currently on bail whilst investigations continue. Why sign someone who may end up in prison for 6 months of the season?
  6. I cannot see us been able to hijack Valcencia's deal for Sneijder, they are consistantly in the later stages of the CL and the top 4 in Spain and will be for the foreseeeable future. Nasri has also stated his intention to remain at L'OM as they have also qualified for the CL, whether he will feel differently after they fall at the first hurdle is a different story. I am in the trust MON camp, he knows what positions need strengthening, the Premier League is a huge draw for players and I think we will pull one huge signing out of the bag along with several other strong improvemnts to the current players.
  7. General There have being rumours that there is to be a prestigous pre-season friendly held at Villa Park this year, is this true? if so any clues as to the opponents.
  8. Around £60 million without wages/signing on fees, we would also have alot of very good players not getting into the squad every week. Five out of those new players would be good.
  9. In my opinion world class star players are very unlikely to be on MON's radar, even if they would come I cannot see Villa using such a large part of their transfer budget on one player. To move forward and challenge for honours we need strenghtening in more than one area, Manure, who have won the league, reached the final of the FA Cup and semi-final of the Champions League are looking for three. MON's transfer dealings to date have been astute, one big name centre forward, one of the hottest properties in the January window and the best player in Scotland last year. I think he will continue in the same vain with players who could fit into the current Champions League team's squads. The likes of Bent, Sniejder, Van der Vaart, Defoe, SWP etc. etc.. I do not see the likes of Koumas, Kamara, Nugent etc. fitting this criteria, we should only buy improvements to our squad not players of similar or lesser abilities. I trust MON to know this. Interestingly Joey Barton's agent is touting for a transfer big style, stating he will definately leave ManC preferring the blue scousers, I wonder if they have the funds availible without selling Arteta as they have major debts and no investment. In footballing terms either would improve our squad.
  10. General, First time poster, I thought I should follow the new trend of posting my appreciation for all the unbelievable work carried out by the new board of directors and staff at Villa Park in your thread. I am a 4th generation Villa fan and soon to be returning season ticket holder, I can remember the highs of European glories as a schoolboy and the lows of second division football, but I cannot remember such anticipation around the club. The talk of top class and world class footballers signing for the club is getting all Villa fans excited and is something that is deserved by such a faithful following and a board with the vision you have shown. The club had stagnated for in excess of ten years pre-Randy, with a lack of forethought and vision shown by the previous regime. Randy has trully awoken one of the few sleeping giants of world football and shows all of the actions of someone who will not accept anything less than reaching the summitt of footballing greatness. As Randy stated "to own" is not something you can turn up and do but "to support" is and I can assure you that supporting is something that I and many thousands of others will be doing on a week by week basis.
