Exactly what I meant I generally refer to it as town when talking to fellow Brummies and the city centre with all other people. It's not just a Brummie thing but does tend to be used by people in their particular locality. Good Morning General, I know you are a very busy man and I find it really humbling to think that you come away from an Obama transition meeting to talk to us. I have a bit of a request for your help. I am not sure if you remember but about 12 months ago, a promising young footballer called Adam Baxter was taken from us whilst on a footballing scholarship over in the States. I do know that it was discussed at the time on your thread and I know the club very kindly donated items to the memorial fund set up by his father. I am a colleague of Adam's uncle and the memorial fund are having a fund raising evening next week and his uncle was wondering if club would be so kind as to donate anything to place into a charity auction or if you could point me in the right direction at the club. The memorial fund has been set up to assist young sport people by helping towards costs for equipment and training etc. and any help would be very much appreciated by all those who knew Adam. General Sir, Thanks for all your recent comments on here they are most reassuring that our club is in the hands of truly honourable men. I know you have been shot and blown up so I am sure that a small minority of pessimistic whingers on here will not bother you? For me the fans have shown and are continuing to show their loyality to the Randy regime by filling VP every week and buying more merchanise etc. I also agree that Gareth is making one of them mistakes where everyone else can see it happening except for the man himself. As you have pointed out the situation has been made worse by Liverplops bidding before they actually had enough money in place. If you had a choice of one of the following this season would it be a top 4 finish, reaching a final of a domestic cup or a good run in the UEFA cup (minimum semi's). I can remember as a child us wininning the league and European Cup, it was the proudest time as a fan. I can also remember the league cups wins of the 90's also proud momemts and enjoyable days. This is what we all want and it is good to see that Randy wants the same let's all pull together to acheive this.

I used to play for Birmingham Crows about 12 or 13 years ago and we used to travel all over the country playing and abroad in places like Canada, it is actually a very good participation sport (the kit is a bit crap, as you play in a tank top and tight shorts). The AFL used subsidise the teams back then with cheap kits and balls, we used to play in the summer once the football and rugby season had finished. All in in all it was fun but still prefered football and rugby. It was always a good excuse for a piss up though.

General Just wondering if there is a timetable for us to release news of next seasons sponsors and shirt we are obviously tied into Nike alot earlier than last year so will this mean that the new kit will be available alot sooner? Has Richard FitzGerald's deprture affected the new sponsor deal being sorted?

General Just a little story which has some good news and some not so good performance from the Villa. A colleague of mine happens to be a Chelsea fan (from Shrewsbury? Iknow wtf??) and as a present his son (a Manure fan? Double wtf???) brought tickets for himself and my colleague in the Trinity Road for Sundays match off the OS and all this was about 2 weeks ago. At the time I warned him that this was not advisable as feelings on this subject were running high down at Villa Park and told him what he was doing was wrong and if he did go he had better sit on his hands throughout the game. Today the colleague has turned in for work stating he had a message to ring the ticket office at the Villa, which he has now done. Basically they (quite rightly) asked if he was a Chelsea fan to which he answered that both he and his son were neturals and just football fans. They then stated that they would not be selling the tickets to him and the only way they may offer tickets is for the away area should Chelsea return any surplus. After all the trouble at the Liverpool game it is a well done for not letting a Chelsea fan into the home area and deprive a genuine Villa fan of a ticket. The only business in all of the above which was in my opinion handled badly was that the club intially took his money (he had to set up an account on the OS prior to purchasing) and that they have held on to his money for 2 weeks before refusing the tickets and refunding the money. This needs addressing as it is not reasonable to firstly take the money then hold it in the clubs account for 2 weeks, could you please look into this for me. Many Thanks.

General, My thoughts are that fans who regulary browse and post on the internet are perhaps more interested in tansfer rumours than other fans, I think that generally as fans we are still in awe of the changes that have happened in the last 12 months and we are all pleased. Having recently met you I can see that you are a genuine, straight down the line gent without any airs and graces or superiority, I felt like I had known you for years. Fans love to complain about their team and this is their perogative, you pay your money you make your choice, we have had an exceelent pre-season and the team seem strong together and are playing with confidence so lets see how the season starts and this month ends, I for one am confident. General sorry if you have already been asked this but whats your prediction for the score against Liverpool and who do you think will score Villa's first goal of the season.

Well everything has gone quiet for now, no ones posting or arguing, Villa have told us to be patient, which is extremely difficult. We get strongly linked to one player (NRC) and end up with a 50 page thread, when we do sign someone the place is going to go berserk. This is down to the expectation created by the honourable deeds of Randy and Co. and we have to remember they have not let us down yet and have always gone one better IMO. The papers seem to think that as Jol is Dutch then it is cast in stone that he will sign for Spuds, this is rubbish, to assume that all Dutchmen like and get on with one another is cloud cuckoo land.
