  1. She got skewered last night. Her whole angle is "I am the better alternative to dysfunctional political establishment".

Last night Sheffield batted that back to her. She is about as establishment as it gets. Her record in government speaks for itself and her illiterate policy on Brexit stinks.

I just hope that Labour voters in Lib Dem/Con marginals are not too put off and lend them a vote to deny the Tories a majority.

  2. The way I saw it. In order of performance

Sturgeon has an easy ride because English voters don't care much about holding her to account. She is a slick operator.

Corbyn had some tough questions but was able to put across his philosophy for the country. He wasn't just on the defensive....

Johnson was asked tough questions, on the things he is weak on, he really struggled. He lied, deflected and attacked Corybn where he could. He got a few claps, as he would on Brexit.

Swinson was slaughtered, she didn't seem to get any positive feedback on her points. Had angry questions from leavers and remainers. Was absolutely destroyed on her voting record, supporting austerity and malicious social welfare policies that she voted in favour of. She had a pained look on her face. Possibly a turning point.

And do t forget the one where he threatened his missus for looking at his laptop. His biggest argument yet.

    It's quite shallow.

Anyone else have a nagging feeling that on the fence female voters will be quite put off by Johnson?

Not just his personal life shenanigans, but his bully boy style in things like that debate. The format was cack to be honest, but Johnson repeatedly kept on talking over the host. He's got form, Momentum have a video on Twitter where he's doing the same thing to a female BBC interviewer.

I have a hunch that woman will be put off by Johnson, and I know there will be a big push at female voters in the Labour manifesto.

  4. England have the dubious ability to consistently smash teams they should beat in qualifying but look unconvincing in doing so.

I'm not complaining, this is one of the best England teams I've seen. I like Southgate, and I like his approach and the teams he picks. I'm not sure England have the ability to be pragmatic, so when it comes to the Euros next year we need to invoke Kevin Keegan's Newcastle and keep scoring.

  5. There is some controversy over polls on Twitter, apparently the big pollsters are using data suggesting that the age turnout of young voters is waaay down on 2017 figures and that turnout for older voters (65+) will actually be up.

I'm not sure how accurate any of these claims or methodology are, however I do know that Labour (and to a lesser extent LibDems) are popular with younger voters.

If they can convince them to vote, then they could potentially catch the pollsters out. I hope.

  6. It's still early in the campaigns but according to the polls The Conservatives have a comfortable lead over Labour, that will be difficult to assail.

However, the manifestos go out early next week and we'll have some TV debates coming up as well. Expect Labour to draw a bit closer, The Conservatives have gambled on having only one policy (Brexit) , which will stale a bit over the next few when particularly Labour come out with popular policy ideas again.

  7. "It won't work"

    Isn't true, in my opinion.

There are many examples of successful nationalised services, if you care to find them. South Korea is one the examples given by John McDonnell today regarding fibre services. He's saying it's nationalised and it's really good.

Nationalisation of services needs to be done well, if it is, it can provide a better service to more people than a private enterprise could.

BBC 6.00 news at it again. Bishop Auckland voxpops, all about ex-Labour voters who don't like Corbyn, and plan to vote Tory.

It's a disgrace, how about talking to Tory remainers that are ditching the Conservatives for the Lib Dems in their droves?

It made me a bit angry to be honest, the presenter was saying things like "The North East are disgruntled with a political system that they feel has forgotten about them". And then they talk to two 2017 Labour voters in a pub that say that they're now going to vote Conservative. Basically, the narrative that they're trying to spin didn't make sense to me.

I dunno, I can't understand what the BBC are up to, to be honest. All I ever see is this obsession with Labour leavers. It seems to me that they're not trying to represent an election narrative, but they're trying to create one.

  9. Bit late, but last Saturday I saw The Tallest Man on Earth at the Town Hall.

It's in my top 3 gigs I've ever been to, he was incredible. I've followed him for a decade and to see him play live was really special. His guitar technique and song writing is unparalleled, he is a genre in his own right.

Anyone into the lively folk vibe, should definitely give him a listen.

  10. We're definitely underdogs for this one, but I think this squad have guts, we've competed well in every game so far. Hopefully we can push Wolves and get a result, it'll be a tough game without Heaton, Grealish and Engels.

On the plus Douglas and Wesley will be buzzing from their international call ups, we're probably more disciplined without Grealish in the team (so hopefully harder to catch in the break) and we've have some encouraging performances in recent weeks.

    Wolves line up looks strong.

Not looking forward to seeing Traore again.
