One of the men who took down the terrorist was a convicted murderer on day release. He cut the throat of a disabled girl in 2003.

The Police had to ring the family of the murdered girl to tell them that they might see the murderer on TV and he is being called a "hero"

Take care out there folks, you never know who you are walking past!

Interesting moral question then. Is he a hero?

I think we'll hold fire on the knighthood, as it would be inappropriate.

His actions in this context were heroic. Perhaps that's best way to frame the actions of the members of the public that were involved.

  2. It was nice to watch a debate where the politicians seem to totally agree on the issues and only differ on how they tackle them. It was nice to see a debate where I largely felt that they actually believed in what they were talking about.

It is disgraceful that Johnson didn't feel that the climate emergency was an issue worth debating with the other party leaders.

Farage is an embarrassment to mankind.

  3. The Conservatives didn't want this poll result as much as you may think. They've got some pretty shaky remainers in their midst, who won't fancy Boris's no deal roller coaster. They might not hold their nose and vote Labour, but they might lend the Lid Dems a vote.

It will also galvanise the tactical vote against them for more natural Lib Dem voters and remain Labour voters that have been swayed by the Lib Dems. It reinforces the message in the marginals that have been projected to go from red to blue, 'Vote Lib Dem, get Tories'.

There are lots of new voters, and I'm not sure whether the YouGov poll is able to factor in where these registrations are focused. Fck Boris and Momentum have been going to key marginals, knocking on people's doors and getting them to register to vote. Who knows whether that targeting will mean anything.

There's still a few weeks left of the campaign. Boris will hide from public view for the rest of it I shall imagine. I'm sure this will give him some momentum.

  4. What seemed to work against Newcastle is him starting wide and drifting inside. We can do that now that we have capable full backs .

His goal and assist return this season has surprised me. I feel like he's improving each game at the moment. Long may that continue.

I think he *could* be capable of playing through the middle as well. He’s got the attributes and can finish.

He’s a bit of a liability playing wide in a 3, he doesn’t track back well enough and doesn’t do enough going forward to make up for it either.

Just like to bring this post up. He played as an inside forward last night, and get into central areas more often than not. It seemed to suit him.

  6. I don't understand all the criticism. He should have scored, but I felt he did ok up against 3 centre backs. He held the ball up when he needed and made unselfish runs and worked hard.

Are Villa realistically going to have a striker that scores more often than Wesley has so far this season? I don't think so if I am being honest.

I'm also not sure that the anti-Semitism smears actually cut through to the general public that much. I seem to recall seeing a poll of people's recognition of 'major stories' a while back and it was basically at the bottom.

This is where the Conservatives strategy of flinging the most absurd accusations at Corbyn day after day backfires. It just becomes noise to most people.

The latest polls are showing a swing towards Labour.

Let's not forget that before the 80's they would be forced to leave said pub by 10.30 and wouldn't be walking in there in the middle of the day at all.  Seems so archaic now (and did at the time)

I've just realised that if they were a regular, they might end up having a pint with themselves.

I love a time travel paradox, especially in a pub.

I was thinking a few years ago, that if someone from 1995 walked down the street or into a pub in 2015, no one would blink or be able to identify them.  That's a 20 year gap.

There is so much that I like about this idea.

What if it was someone who was a regular at the pub from 1995 to 2005? Amazing.

I think the biggest tell would be their choice of bar snack.  Or the copy of Loaded magazine under their armpit, and the Kappa poppers they would be wearing.

I know they both have different ideals, but it seems that whoever is in charge we just get the same bullshit throughout.

I won't pretend to be a neutral commentator, but the two main parties are about as far away from each other politically than they ever have been in my lifetime.

The Conservatives have made a right mess of the country. A different PM means a different government.

  11. They've edited to make it appear as if Johnson was being clapped. What a crock of shite the BBC are now.

I don't think it needs scrapping, but they need to be held to account. I'm not sure how though.

It is so damaging to democracy, because many people will believe that the BBC are paragons of independent journalism. If ever there were such a thing.
