  1. Dignitas is trending on Twitter........... perhaps there is a Villa press conference going down tomorrow?

    Explain?

If I have to explain its not funny.

Am I the only one that gets this?!

I'm with ya... the level of intelligence in some people really makes u wanna slit ur wrists doesn't it! ;)

  2. Latest from MM

I was feeling pretty shit from the moment on Sat night we had wind of the McCleish story ( I should have known better ) until I got a call around 10.50 pm last night and now things are looking a lot lot better . General Krulack wasn't in the Marines for nothing an expert on divertionary tactics which are coming in handy at the moment as our lads sit in the trenches waiting for the call to go over the top.

    I smell bullshit

This MM strikes me as an attention seeker and far from ITK

HaHa.... That made me chuckle

  3. I don't normally get wound up, but the passivity of people not just outside of villa but also some of our own fans, who are buying into all this media crap.

Martinez, Benitez etc have not turned us down, they were never offered the job or even had a meeting with Lerner in the first place.

Apply some common sense to the situation. Its obvious that no one really has a clue what Lerners intentions are, so stop believing all these so called ITK's.

Having an 'educated' guess Lerner has obviously drawn up a short list of managers that he is in the process of interviewing. This is probably going to take some time.

Everyone talking about Villa having no money to spend in the summer, I would love to know were that conclusion came from? Houlier already had several targets identified that we intended to buy before his illness. There are strong link that a 10mill deal to bring Foster is in place. These are all suggestions that we do have a lot of money to spend to rebuild the squad (which is obviously needed)

My suggestion is to keep your pants on and be patient, we have plenty of time. And stop listening to all the bull that is flying around.

    Exactly! :D top post!

  4. Moyes was Preston manager when he took over at Everton. Were they being unambitious?

the difference being martinez has managed in the prem and has not been very good at all. look at his signings. boseli? so bad they loaned him out after 6 months. moses hasnt set the world alight either to name a few

Same as we did with Ireland? Were hardly in a position to be talking about bad signings... Given the time and the money (which may not be a lot in comparison to what were used to, but more than he could ever dream of at Wigan) I think Martinez could build a very good team.

  5. Update on Martinez:

Wigan Athletic Chairman Dave Whelan yesterday praised Aston Villa for their thoroughly professional approach when requesting to interview manager Roberto Martinez, who is being considered for a position as head ball boy at Villa Park. According to Whelan, everyone at his club had been highly honoured and “dead chuffed for our Roberto” following the visit of a Villa delegation led by Chief Executive Paul Faulkner, described as “a real gent” by Latics tea lady Elsie Wainwright, visibly flushed with the excitement of serving freshly baked pies to the distinguished guests.

Although thought to be tempted by the Midlands giants’ offer of nearly £500 a week, more than double his current salary as Latics manager, Martinez is said to be “unsure whether he is ready to take the step up.”

A final decision on the man to lead Villa’s ball retrieval team next season is now expected to be postponed until next week, while Chairman Randy Lerner turns his attention to considering applications from Carlo Ancelotti and other candidates for the club’s vacant managerial position.

    link?

    Rly? :bang:

  6. I have probably missed what MysteryMan said but reading between the lines of the last few posts I guess he has said that he envisages another meltdown on here similar to that of when we signed Benty in January?

Has anyone considered that a meltdown can be because of a negative reaction as well as a positive one? Maybe we are looking to employ a manager who is not going to be well received and MM can see a moaning meltdown on the horizon!

Personally, I hope that it is a positive meltdown and Villa announce that Louis Van Gaal has put pen to paper on a 4 yeard deal to manage the mighty Villans!! :D

    Fistface????!!!! :o

  7. i said slavan bilic when MON left and stand by my choice. surprised i havent seen him mentioned. would be interesting to see him try and implement and eastern european work ethic to the squad

    Living in caravans at BMH?

Setting up a hand car wash at the Belfry?

And walking through the traffic at Bassetts Pole washing windscreens??

    :D

Haha... can't wait to see Barry Bannan driving the no.11

  8. Well the only thing that has ruled out Ancelotti so far is a small Italian newspaper article which was using quotes from a few weeks ago. Nowhere has there been an official statement from him and of course he did accept a reduced payoff from Chelsea to remove that clause that said he couldn't work for 12 months, making it strange for him to then say he won't work for 12 months anyway. It's not that unrealistic to think it might still be on.

    Agreed.

I've got a feeling that RL had put the feelers out and this is CA's way of saying "tempt me..."

  9. Fulhum, a club reportedly smaller than we are, have managed to appoint a manager who will probably be better than who we appoint (unless we get Moyes), in less time.

What are the excuses? Because this is heading in a dangerously similar direction to the Houllier appointment, having started off quite promisingly. For whatever reason, we've now missed out on 2 of my top 3 choices, and unless we get Moyes, then we'll have been out done by this man:

    Doc Emmett?

  10. It does seem we are in for a more popular appointment this time. I hadn't considered Jol too much even though I was keen last year. How did he do at Ajax. And is he still there now/when did he leave?

He quit Ajax earlier in the year.

    why did he quit?

did he actually quit, or was he sacked, or was it 'mutual consent'?

Martin Jol quit Monday as coach of struggling Dutch powerhouse Ajax and will be replaced by former Netherlands defender Frank de Boer, at least until the end of December.

Ajax said in a statement on its website it had agreed to Jol's request to terminate his contract, two days after the club struggled to a 1-1 draw with lowly NEC Nijmegen to slip to fourth in the Dutch league. The four-time European champion also has been knocked out of the Champions League.

"I'm leaving this beautiful club with pain in my heart," the 57-year-old Jol said. "We started something in the summer of last year that I wanted to finish. But I've come to realize that the expectations were too high after last season. We couldn't live up to those expectations and that hurts."

He was then rumoured to go straight to Newcastle.. but that never happened.. so i dont know if he did what Mark Hughes has just done...

Ajax did go on to win the league without him though!

  11. I can imagine now, everybody getting excited over Ancelotti, it seems a dead certain he's coming then a newsflash on the Villa site shows McClren holding the Villa shirt up. Wouldn't put i past us after the past 12 months, it's been a crazy year!

Would McClaren actually be a bad shout though?

I mean the club is always going on about wanting to increase revenue, sales of Villa branded umbrellas would go through the roof if we appointed him!

The sale of ASHton Villa branded umbrellas you mean..... :winkold:
