Owen. His record speaks for itself.
so does gary lineker's, doesn't mean he should be playing...
-
i remember last season we played really well and still lost 2-0
i wouldn't rule out a draw or even a win though, the pressure is really on them now they're so close to 50 games unbeaten (they do have the distinct advantage of being **** class, but i'll ignore that)
-
Over-ruled.
Paddy, this is my poll, one more outburst like that and i will ban you from VillaTalk.
haven't interefered with your poll, i haven't voted
-
Well, since Rooney has the entire English media on his cock, his position is not debatable
i will however dispute it, a controversial defoe and smith for me with vass and rooney to come on, no appearance for owen at all
-
My mum and dad are Scottish but they moved down to Wolverhampton when
I Was two, 'cause they wanted me to sound like a tw*t.
i might play that trick on my kids, legendary
one of my mates moved from liverpool to wolverhampton to birmingham and now back to liverpool, unfortunately his accent isn't anywhere near as comical as it should be
-
i would say ollie and terry are the best ones at the moment, with king and campbell not far behind
-
Does anyone know where he is/up to now?
at the pub having a pint? (yes i know its 12:45, at home having a can then)
ok that answer was a bit obvious and a bit harsh maybe, and i really hope i'm wrong, but i fear i'm not, there was another story about a relapse recently wasn't there, or something to do with health problems related to alcoholism

Not sure how to change it!

mellberg has also scored 3 (1 which completely wrongly didn't count), so that's not really bad is it, he's also done numerous brilliant things, although you say hendrie changed the game against newcastle (and i'm inclined to agree), the 3rd goal came from some absolutely brilliant reading of the game from mellberg who then fed hendrie, i don't think he was saying hendrie was the weak link, he put up a list of 10 players for you to vote from, i would have put the same 10 players up i reckon as no-one would vote mellberg or angel
-
I reckon we would miss Tommy Sorenson big time if he was out for a while - but still rather him than Big King O.
you say that, but you didn't vote for him!
i agree though, he's very important, only because i'm not a huge postma fan, he's ok but he's really a good first division keeper really
-
he is paddy. not just in the 'i want to play for real madrid if your sorry lot cant quarantee me trophies way'. he wants to succeed at villa doing what he can do best - play footy and hopefully pick up few awards while doing so.
exactly, if you look i didn't say he wasn't ambitious, just that he's not ambitious compared to most footballers, do you reckon angel would have joined us if inter were bidding for him? would he ****, same with most of our team, he wants him and his family to be happy and i admire him for that, part of that is not unsettling them by dragging them all over the country/world
-
Shhhh, don't say that too loudly, he might be reading this and get ideas. Although I think he likes it at Villa...
he's more than happy here, to him football is just like any other career, he's not the ambitious person in the world by any means
-
Goals win games. If you dont score you dont win.
Has to be JPA
who's scored more this season?
i'll stick with my initial vote!
as man city found out you actually need to defend as well, keegan doesn't seem to have realised yet though
-
i did it by thinking who am i most gutted about missing out on the team, and there was only one choice, ollie, half of that might be because we have no back-up but that's not the point, even if we did i still hate not having him playing
-
i'd stick with nobby for this one even though i'm not his biggest fan because he could pull something special out the bag against his old employers i reckon
-
vass for me, he will do well this season i reckon, he's a good partner for angel, even if he doesn't score that many goals his runs panic defenders and leaves space fpr angel
also i've never seen cole alongside angel so how can i possibly judge?
-
no disrespect for Laursen but no-one knows if he can play in the English league
yep, and we all know that heskey can't play in the premier league
-
they haven't signed forssell, only thing i'd have different is bringing in forssell on loan rather than cole, boro's signings are pretty damn shit, blues are awful other than forssell (who isn't really a signing), shame ours are kind of non-existent
-
Who is stupid enough to vote for Nolberto Solano? He is our best winger, our first "true" winger in a long time.
who is stupid enough to not read the previous posts and see that it was me who voted him and i explained my reasons fully
He is our only England international!
so? phil neville or emile heskey wouldnt' get into our team on that player, concentrate on what a good palyer he is (which i think he is) not what he's achieved or anything
and the reason this thread is perhaps quite negative is because almost every other thread talked about who we should sign etc etc so i just wandered who these signings should replace, it seems that it will be vass (which i think is harsh, but not surprising), and gav, which is both harsh and surprising i think
-
and vass is 23... i still rather have someone else, i wouldn't object to playing vass right wing but it wouldn't bring the best out of him and i don't think it will happen, this isn't me saying i would drop solano now, its just if we had the chance i'd sign a replacement
-
Who voted for Nobby?....Bit harsh, he needs time to settle.
who do you think? as only me and you have written anything on this thread and you know who you voted for?
it's not i don't like nobby, i like all the players in our team, and i wouldn't say we're desperate to replace any of them, solano is 31(?) and has only got a few years left in him, plus he's often away on international duty and injured, so i think we could do with a top quality right winger, he's a very good player don't get me wrong, but we could do better
-
We all want a new signing (or 4) but who should they replace? assuming we want them to play in the first team, it's obvious we need more squad depth, but that's cover, who should go in the first team? I know there's a lot of similar threads to this but at no point have i seen anyone say who they would drop to accomodate all these signings everyone wants, our first team isn't really week, we've just got no strength in depth
i'm guessing the winner of this poll will be vassell, but we shall see
there appears to be a limit on the number of options you can give on the poll so i removed mellberg, seemed logical as surely no-one wants him replaced, if you do just say, but it won't fit in the poll
WE CAN'T BUY 6 QUALITY PLAYERS, ASSUMING WE CAN ONLY BUY ONE WHO WOULD THEY REPLACE, obviously listing others you think could be replaced is fine but this poll is assuming we're only going to sign one more first team regular so as not to make the poll too complicated
-
what film did the england team watch when they got back last night?
gone in 60 seconds
(sorry)

Tony "Jacuzzi or TV Guvnor" Morley for me every time.
never saw morley in his prime unfortunately, i saw him play for the 'old stars' last year and he was absolutely awesome, you could see how good he was in his day, his skill and crossing ability was still fantastic (if his pace and stamina was a little on the decline), i'd have absolutely loved to watch him play at his best
other players that stood out that day were des bremner (must have been one of the best central defenders we've ever had) and cowans (obviously)
tony daley also stood out but only because he got caught offside the best part of 20 times in the first half, i think the linesman was slightly dodgy but his positioning was pretty bad, still had lightning pace though

remember how well Ridgewell dealt with Defoe at the end of last season, didn't given even half a chance, wound him up, got him booked, did a cheeky smile to the holte end, that was an absolutely awesome performance from liam (the only time i've heard "Liam, Liam, Liam" from the holte rather than "Dion, Dion, Dion"), but while he was amazing it did show that if defoe comes up against decent central defenders then he is rubbish, oh wait he'll be up against robert page and danny gabbidon, ignore what i just said...
