  1. If Baros was truly better than average then surely the rumours of a purchaser would include more clubs than us and West Ham.

He is an average headless chicken who had a good Euro 2004. As has been said no better than our headless chicken Vassell.

  2. The problem Ellis has is the BOARD have to make a decison about what is right for ALL shareholders. Ellis cansay what he likes the rest can recommend the bid to shareholders.......... The Meaning Evil seems to hint that they might just do that.

  3. Bolton again........

Bolton Wanderers are closing in on a deal for Malaga defender Juanito.

The stopper is out of contract at the end of the season and could be heading to The Reebok Stadium on a free transfer.

The Trotters have been chasing Juanito for some time and his agent Ramon Arasa travelled to Bolton for further talks last week.

Arasa was finalising the economic aspect of Bolton's offer with a minimum of a four-year contract believed to be on the table.

Juanito's representative, though, is set to hold further discussions with Malaga before confirming where the 25-year-old will play next season.

"We are still awaiting a definitive response from Malaga so we can evaluate everything before we make a final decision," Arasa told skysports.com.

"We only want to know what is the best thing for the player."

Juanito has already rejected Malaga's final offer of a new four-year deal but the signs suggest there could still be room for manoeuvre.

Celta Vigo and Deportivo La Coruna have also made bids for Juanito but their offers are inferior to the one from The Reebok Stadium.

The centre half, who can also play in midfield, does not want to dwell on his future as he prepares for more talks with his agent.

Juanito said: "I am waiting for my agent to travel to Malaga in the next few days to find a solution for my future."

  4. Listen folks... a manager who has already been 'done' by the FA for tapping up is hardly likely to say anything else..... he is probably trying to put off others calling about him. :)

DOL isn't going to ring Fergiescum..... but if Smiths agent rings DOL who knows.

  5. I would opt for Smith.... and at the risk of being shot at dawn.... would make him Captain!.

Drive, determination and willing to bollock those around him, and it might make him control himself better with the responsibility.

  6. We need to buy a natural leader which is something we are very short of.

No, I don't know who, but surely our management team who are paid millions between them should have some idea..... and also a plan B if they can't get who they want.

  7. What about Sammy Morgan?..... the way he clattered into Bob Wilson in the FA cup mach at the Arse before we did them well and truly in the replay.

He was at the game today..... now as a centre forward he was class!!.... only just beating Andy Lochead mind you for his goal against Manure in the League Cup Semi in 1971.

  8. If the club wont issue more shares, then how about setting up a company that buys shares - to put pressure on Ellis?

It's called the Shareholders Association.... also the Suporters Trust do this.

Price increases effect everyone. Shares give you the choice plus you then have a say (be it minimal) in the way the club is run and you do keep the shares and you could even make a profit.

  9. Come on chaps...... this isn;t really serious but just an idea being floated.

We have done similar before - NTL deal - (share options only then) that financed some of our biggest buys....... but Doug used the PLC money to buy then back if you recall before he had to issue shares and be diluted.

  10. was wondering if it could be put forward at the AGM as a resolution, along the lines of the club seriously exploring the raising funds by such an issue. bit like the resolutions put forward at the last AGM

would place doug in an interesting position.

Nice idea mf........... my concerns only are that £llies could actually strengthen his position BUT if the money was used properly.... say only needs to be about £10m.... plus the £6m in the kitty and the more than that in the Summer announced by Brucey Bonus this morning could give DOL the 'pot of gold' = £20m+

  11. Well it was by this very route that I became a shareholder in 1968.

If Doug loves the club, and the manager, CEO and a non-exec director want outside finance why not try this first?

Of course Doug will have his holding diluted...... but of course he could always buy some and thereby actually use HIS money for once in supporting the club.

  12. I wondered why the Holte End was singing, Shit On The Villa, I see the Stretfrod End arising & There's only one Jose Mourinho, in the respective games.......!

Silly me!.... I thought there were 4 stands at Villa Park.... but what do I know?

.......so as not to disappoint.... 'The 40,000 are??????'.........

  13. Blues - 41,329 Sunday lunchtime, T.V

    Man Utd - 42,953 Monday night, T.V

    Chelsea - 36,691 Saturday lunchtime T.V

And I suppose you can guarantee that no opposition supporters managed to get tickets for Villa sections?

Of course not!... We all know, well those of us that attend, away supporters in home sections is more of a problem against the 'bigger' teams.
