I guess the point is John is whether for the inheritance it is best if he sells before or after his death or does it maake no real difference ?
Not for IHT perhaps BUT if he 'drops off the twig' leaving his family several million AVFCPLC shares they might just sell to anyone for anything........ at least I HOPE he is also doing the best at the moment for the club.

I understand Mrs.Ellis attends several games a season. He has grandchildren that occasionally attend. Thats it
-
If I had grandkids, I'd rather give them a football club than a trust fund.
At the moment he..... sorry his wife/Grandkids are looking down the barrel at about £8,000,000 in inheritance tax!...... and thats on his shares alone
-
To whom though
The PLC.......but no money has been spent yet which is what I was trying to say

how much are we paying the rothchilds? is this the money we could have used to buy bakke?
No. Rothschild, like all agents, get paid on results. Once a deal is done they put in their invoice.
-
If Doug had decided that he wasnt going to deal with the Comers, wouldn't there have to be a statement released to the LSE being more explicit than "We've appointed Rothschild because we feel talks with the Comers are slow"?
Come on ickle...... he wants them to appear to be in with a chance to make sure if anyone else comes in the price don't drop...... having said that shares down over 20p this morning
-
who?? and it must be true its the mirror, they love us.
Well, this ties in EXACTLY with what I posted on here after the Everton game.
Ellis doesn't want to sell to Comers he wants a 'footballman'. Now this is the first time the names come out but Ellis also indicated he would listen to a Norwegian bid.
-
But they did 'con' NTL out of millions first though
-
Was that also how we financed paying NTL to buy their share holding back? If so, who holds and votes these shares now?
I think it was 'share options' they had...... meaning NEW shares would have been created thus diluting Dougs percentage ownership, hence the club buying them back.
-
It was NV
-
Funny there is nothing on AVFC LSE page concerning this sale of stock...... the ybought but who sold?
-
The Board of Aston Villa has with immediate effect appointed Rothschild to act
as financial adviser to help it determine the best strategy for the future of
Aston Villa.
So if you are right Malc is this statement inaccurate?
If Rothschilds have already been involved who were they working for and what were they doing?
-
There's more to come too
So come on then clever clogs what is it?
-
Comers offered a figure to buy.
Doug says 'show us the money'
Doug now says 'What they offered was acceptable but they haven't come up with the cash'
Villa now employ Rothschilds to discuss them searching out someone prepared to pay what Doug thinks is acceptable.
Maybe Comers will now come forward...... maybe they won't
-
But not if you are skint
-
I hear what you say PP but if that was the case why pick one of the most expensive merchant banks going to handle it?
-
As per our announcement dated 31 October 2005, the Board has held discussions
with Aston Villa Investments Limited ("AVIL") in the context of AVIL having
provided Aston Villa with an indicative proposal to acquire the company, which
if converted into a firm offer, the Board of Aston Villa would recommend to
shareholders
So whatever figure was suggested at the beginning of negotiations by Comertose it is obviously a figure acceptable to Doug and he would recommend it to shareholders.
The ONLY problem it says is NO FIRM offer. If they make one it's a done deal.
As has been said it begs a response from them.
-
Which is what VFC have been asking the old goat to do for ages!... Appoint someone to seek out a buyer
-
I think it needs 10% of the shareholding to force an EGM
If the Villa is as badly run as people would have you believe on this forum, it'll be a doddle getting that 10% surely?
Not when Ellis+family and hangers on + Petchey must hold 60%. 10% are apparently missing,
Another 20% are apathetic or not interested therefore it ain;t that easy.
There is then the cost of writing to all of them..... and I think the club will charge for the list as well.
Remember there are many shareholders like us with between 10and 500 shares that don;t use the interweb.
-
I think it needs 10% of the shareholding to force an EGM...... anybody got a spare million shares going?
-
But the 5000 or so who are like your friends are having an effect......... wait for the half year figures and look at income
-
-
So when's the new protest?
When you going to organise it?
-
but it's true Lee, if people really cared that we are run by a sick old man, that Leicester can buy Fryatt, or Pompey their players or the fact we have such a small sqaud then they would do something.
Or sit on their hands and do jack shit except snipe and criticise
