Very introverted. It took 3 changes to get the team playing with any sort of spark and desire and then even that disappeared with the offside goal.

To be honest we could still be playing and Chelsea wouldn't have got the ball in the net, despite literally gifting them three one on ones in the box. Martinez was impenetrable.
Had Doug's goal stood it might have been a completely different outcome, but I think the main thing missing is that little bit of crispness from our mids. Poor first touches leaving to turnovers were the order of the first half. It's impossible to beat a full high press when that happens.

Once Cash and Tielemans came on we started to break them down plenty and should have scored but just couldn't quite get it right.
We lack the fluency of the teams above us. Too many slightly under or over hit passes and clunky first touches to take hurt teams.

Victim FC strikes again

How the **** did he stay on the pitch?

Main danger for us is McNeil if he comes on. Can cause havoc.
And Carlos passing to the opposition.
Otherwise we should win

Absolutely pointless foul it was

I think the goal we scored is something we're going to see a bit more of and I think Cash alluded to that after the game.
One way to beat a compact defence is to shoot from distance and while it's not a high percentage approach you can draw defenders out and create space with it.
And we've been sucker punched by deflected goals from outside the area several times this season. Good to get one of our own.

Given very few youth players have even made the bench this season "play the kids" is not big on the list of Emery's objectives this season.
It will be a strong team I think, with maybe just McGinn and Konsa rested.
We may see Lenglet at LB but I suspect Moreno will start to get even more minutes into his legs.

We need to be more clinical. At the end of the day it was a 4-1 game that ended 3-2 and only by a whisker.
It's been a bit of a rollercoaster since Man City. Hopefully with some players returning we can kick on.

Thank **** for that

Great for us but they did a far worse shirt pull in the first half that wasn't carded.

Great to see we're actually utilising the place in this team for a change

Awful from Diego

Emi clearly and cleanly wins the ball

Yeah **** off bowl-cut boy

We do this quite a bit when we take the lead - sit back a bit and let the opposition press us harder because we're a little less attacking and incisive with the ball.

Our best goals and chances generally come through crisp, fast transitions that catch defences out, so it flummoxes me that sometimes we are so ponderous with the ball and give defenders all the time in the world to set up.
We also lack players with the capacity and gumption to shoot from distance, which is how teams like Liverpool and Arsenal often beat the low block. At least you're going to draw defenders out that way.
It was frustrating to watch for sure, even more so that I got myself up at 4am to watch. I should have known better
-
VAR or not we lacked the conviction and quality to pierce their defence. Definitely need a creator to unlock defences.
We should have had twice as many shots as we did.

The one goal we scored was from fast thinking, decisive movement. I'm not sure why we just fluff around with it 95%of the time.
I mean, if you're going to turn it over, at least turn it over trying something...
