  1. If you provoke someone, you carry some responsibility for there being a reaction, but you aren't entirely responsible for the reaction, and the provocation isn't a carte blanche justification for whatever that reaction entails.

Israel have committed crimes in Gaza, and there's not a world in which that's justified, or is to be laid at the feet of anyone else. They didn't need to flatten Gaza, they didn't need to kill so many people with abandon, they didn't need to bring an already battered population to the edge. But they wanted to. They wanted to punish Gaza and they wanted to justify further power and land grabs, they wanted to get rid of more Palestinians and they wanted to erase more of Palestine.

I don't come in to this thread very often and must confess I hadn't heard that there was a Shogun series that had been made (or of anyone that's seen it) - from the reviews here it sounds like it's fantastic - is there any likelihood of it being re-broadcast on the type of channels where people actually see stuff? Seems a shame for it to be hidden away.

Who knows? It's an FX production, which is a Disney subsidiary, and it's basically the biggest 'prestige' success FX has had, I'd imagine they'd want to keep it in-house.

It's an exceptionally good series so certainly worth keeping an eye out for introductory offers on Disney+ and binging it.

Why did Yabushige rescue Blackthorne in the Forest?

    Iirc

    Spoiler

Ishido and Yabushige discuss the Anjin being useful long term as he is a tool that can be used to undermine the Jesuits and their pet lords, and would be helpful to Ishido once his immediate threat, Torunaga, is dealt with. Yabushige, who is attempting to play everyone with a view to improving his lot anyway he can, intervenes to rescue him as he can play it as a win to either side - Torunaga wants Blackthorne as much as Ishido would so he can play both sides by intervening.

The show doesn't make this pointedly clear but the scenes with Ishido in the episode make it obvious that eventually he's going to be in conflict with the Christians and he will benefit from anything that helps oppose them, and his discussion with Yabushige has the undercurrent of someone being very careful to not say certain things whilst being clear what he means.

  4. Bethesda have never released something that worked flawlessly on launch, so I wouldn't hold out much hope that even a patch for an 8 year old game to make it look nicer is going to be less than a shitshow.

  5. Edens was quoted not long after they bought us, possibly after the promotion iirc, what his big aim with the club was and the answer was simply 'Champions League'.

That's where the money is. That's what he wanted.

Indeed. The thing is, various leaders of friendly nations acted in response to the claims. So when Israel is unable to present any evidence to validate the claim, what do these leaders think?

I suppose another way of asking the question is “how cynical are we?”

But either way lying to your buddies should lead to extreme future scepticism.

I mean yeah it should but we all know there literally isn't a length Israel could go to that would waiver the support we give it.

It's shameful and scandalous but there we are. Apparently this is what we must accept. To think otherwise is to be worse than Hitler.

It is centred though. As you have proven above, Aston is a longer word that Villa so therefore the space that everyone seems to feel should be in the middle, is not.

I hate this Heck badge but the text is, at least, centred. Even with this season's round badge, the space is not in the centre of the circle.

This just highlights the issue with centring the name like this - it will look bad. You can mitigate it on a round badge, but in a shield with a clear point it highlights the space being off in a way that's not as clear on a ring, which looks shit.

  9. The new round badge isn't great. I can absolutely see why you'd want to quickly move on from it, it's too similar to too many other badges and it disappears in the crowd of other crests due to how generic it is. It's like the AI generated image of modern clean football club badge with a heraldic lion in claret and blue.

The Lerner revamp we're getting makes it look like the best football club badge ever designed. The Lerner badge is bad and always was no matter how much they tinker it to try to rescue it, and now we're getting something that is actually worse somehow.

    It's **** terrible.

  10. The first one shouldn't be a penalty, the player has decided to fall over at a touch, but would have been given in many a match unfortunately.

The second is a 50/50 one that mainly is down to the complete mess we've made of the handball rule. I personally don't think that should be a handball but if that's Liverpool or Manchester United and not Forest you'd not be shocked to see it given sadly.

The third one is a joke. Blatant pen.

  11. He shouldn't have taken the Norwich job really. Leicester was a free hit.

It's interesting seeing him in MLS, he's probably the most qualified manager in that league but he's also on a hiding to nothing from a success perspective, as Charlotte are still a new team that is trying to establish itself and has spent it's first 2 seasons with crap management and a flawed squad. They don't currently, for instance, have their full Designated Player allocation filled and their 'star' striker is currently being outshone by a youth player. Smith seems to have improved the team and the fan base likes him but he's not going to win anything and by all accounts the owner sacks people for fun.

  12. Azzarello's... theory uploaded before he set himself on fire suggests he might have needed help.

Fractions of truth weaved and spun into a grand apocalyptic conspiracy theory founded on crypto being the vehicle of economic doom.

  13. Israel responding to the Iranian response is stupid and reckless, but they were stupid and reckless to attack the consulate anyway so hardly shocking. They want a war, knowing they'll have America right behind them.

It's all well and good pointing out that everyone is a monster but one of those monsters we harbour and enable, like **** hypocrites.
