If Lucas Neill is so average..why does bigger clubs...MUCH bigger clubs than Villa and West Ham want him?
Do they? why has he not gone to these big clubs then?
Many people here lift up our own players to something remarkable...and I cant believe it...our players are mediocre and that is the reason why no one is interested in our players. Reality check please...Just because we don't want to give an average player like lucas neil £50,000 a week doesn't mean we think our players are superb. I want alot of players replaced and i hope we do offer QUALITY players large wages but i don't want lucas neil on that kind of money at this club
-
The Neill-debate: Above all they are getting a much better player than we do, arguement over. They spent the most money on RB and got a better one.
so you'd like a player like lucas neil to be given a £50,000 per week contract?
I've got no problems in giving that sort of money to players like SWP and Bent but i do have giving it to lucas neil. Like i said i doubt it would go down well with some of our players and i'd rather have a young player wanting to play first team football than someone who left a club to join one in the relegation zone becaue they offered him a shit load of money
-
50k a week for Lucas Neill is ridiculous. I would rather invest in the youth of Bardsley, even if we don't sign him permanently than pay almost triple a players actual worth (based on market conditions).
agree with that, there is no way i'd want us offering those sort of wages to lucas neil.
I wouldn't imagine some of our players being very happy if someone as average as lucas neil is coming into the team and earning shit loads more than themselves.
West ham can have him.

We could´ve won games or at least get some draws during january...now we risk losing every game and that is very dangerous
we've played chelsea and man u twice since the window opened, signing ronaldinho wouldn't have made a difference.
-
i think barton must fancy a move
Why else would his agent come out saying this
But as he's an everton fan he'd probably choose them.
-
i'd say we've lost and drawn more games due to not being able to score goals than bad defending so far this season.
-
Ah but there is the difference LM. You wont ask questions until its to late. Thats something you learn with life.
Are you saying that your moaning on villa talk is going to lead to the transfers of players coming to villa?
You must think very highly of yourself
Luke Moore lets hope you don't have egg on your faceI couldn't care less
We won't get relegated and i'm happy to wait untill it easier to sign quality players in the summer before i hit the anti depressants like some others.
-
Some of us judge on actions aswell as talk
Some of us are sensible enough to realise how things work and that we are half way through the transfer window and moaning about pretty much everything related to the team and the manager at least 5 times a day is pretty much pointless.
Half way through the transfer window, you think it's terrible and continue to moan
I'm happy to wait and see what they can do and i'm confident a couple of players will be brought in
Like i said glass half empty
-
All I hear is MON saying we want quality!, well get it then.
Christ, why didn't I think of that?
This management stuff is simple really...
hahaha
Quick someone PM the general to let him know, MON obviously hasn't got a clue.
-
I can see you are grasping, once again i might add, because that doesnt relate to what i just said. I think Villa should spend this window, and i early knew that if we went on pushing the time, we might very well end up with nothing. So far im completely right, so your arguements fall to nothing.
Ive said we need backup plans if our pri targets is a failure, but we havent signed backups or the big shots so far. Its nothing wrong with feeling a club of our stature should keep plan a, b or c, but its a high disappointment when we once again fail to show ambition and get plan a. Nothing more then a personal opinion, but apparantly you see every opinion, no matter how objective, as a moan. Funny thing.
There are 16 days left in the transfer window
According to reports we are still in the hunt for both SWP and Young who are both plan a targets yet you continue to moan
We've been linked with plan b and c targets but you continue to moan.
You kicked up such a major fuss 5 days into the transfer window and still no major signing in the whole of europe has happened yet with a 30 year old fulham winger moving for 5 million to a club in the bottom 3 being the biggest signing in this country.
Like i said you love nothing more than a moan and your a glass is half empty kind of guy.
-
I dont get the problem? Are you banging your head because MON has failed to deliver so far on and off the pitch? Are you banging your head because he didnt have backup plans or any transfer plans at all? Are you banging your head because he failed to sign Milner and have a backup there aswell? Are you banging your head because the signings he has made has been quite shit? Take a pill.
We arent stating he wont deliver permantly, we are just discussing what we feel we should aim for and not, and wether we believe it will happen.
I'm banging my head because you just moan so much, and it doesn't makes sense
Like i said you moaned that we hadn't signed anyone great by the 5th of jan when no premeriship teams were making big signings
You moaned about MON not having back up plans even though there is still 16 days left in the transfer window and you don't have a dam clue what MON has got planned.
We've been linked with the likes of harewood, people have suggested routledge as players who could be those plan b and c type players and once again you moan because you think we need to bring in better players.
It's just moan after moan
your a real glass is half empty kind of guy aren't you?
-
Spot on. I thought we were aiming for a higher level of quality and ambition? SWP would be a suitable signing to signal exactly that.
People firslty moaned about MON not bringing in quality players straight away, then when it became clear that it wasn't possible to bring in his plan a quality targets people moaned about him not having a plan b and c ready and now plan b and c players are suggested and people moan because the quality is not high enough.
-
Yakubu would be a good signing.
He'd be an excellent signing but boro, like most teams will not want to sell their best player during the season
-
General,
I have been a season ticket holder for approx. 20 years and my 6 year old son for 2 years. It is my personal choice and I do not expect any reward for purchasing a season ticket. Each season I miss 2 or 3 games due to travel or other commitments which means financially I do not gain any benefit, however I continue to buy the ticket(s) because
1.I want to sit in the same seat every game
2.I dont want the hassle of having to organise tickets for individual games
3.I want priority for purchasing tickets for away games
4.I want to be guaranteed tickets for cup finals etc
5.I want to be guaranteed my seats when the masses return and are locked out.
I'm not crying because the christmas presents I bought are half price in the January sales. I dont care if you give 10000 free tickets away every game, I'd rather see the ground full and I expect so would MON and the team. I just want to see us win. Whatever it takes to fill that ground do it if it helps us win.
Keep up the incentives, the missing thousands will return, and with a bit of luck the trophies will follow.
Couldn't agree more with that.
I hope villa do what ever it takes to get the ground full, it makes it a much better time for me.
-
i can't see young going to west ham, it would make no sense what so ever to give a team your fighting relegation with your best player.
-
i'm pretty stunned that he is only 27 i thougth carew was in his 30's
Hasn't he had problems with knee injuries throughout his career though?
-
That's not entirely true.
I think, in that situation, a truly forward-thinking club chairman might sanction kidnap as an option. You can see how it might work: after getting the brush-off from Boothroyd, O'Neill and Krulak wait in the bushes outside Watford's training ground at dusk, carrying a sack and a cosh. Lerner has the motor running in an unmarked Transit. Young comes strolling out, whistling ... there's a swift struggle ... the cosh rises and falls once, twice ... Young is bundled into the van and the next day is photographed smiling woozily on the pitch at VP wearing his Villa shirt and a couple of bumps on his head.
It's the way all transfers will be done in the future.
If this is the tactic, forget young and head on out to barcelona and bring back ronaldinho
-
I get the impression its not because we dont have the means but because other clubs might not play ball.
exactly
why do some find it impossible to understand that it doesn't matter if MON has found players he wants and Randy has agreed to back him that unless clubs are prepared to sell their players (most clubs don't sell their best players in january) then their is nothing they can do.
-
Not all clubs want to sell
Mangers want to keep their players
Clubs wants players before selling others.
Excuses.
Sorry mate thats just ridiculous. So you really believe that Randy and MON can
a)Force clubs to sell players
b)Persuade managers to sell their best players
c)Source players for other clubs so that they will sell their better players to Villa.
Cloud.
Cuckoo.
Land.
I can help you out of your nest mate.
a)Once again its assumed every club wants to keep their players.
b)Would a team benefit from an unhappy player? Would they sell players with contracts coming up?
c)This is answered above.
You'd probably be correct if you were talking about just bringing in plaers to fill up the squad but MON and alot of villa fans want quality bringing in.
a) It's assumed that every club wants to keep their best players because 99% of the time clubs want to keep their best players
so we can only go after unhappy players or players coming out of contract, well it seems the likes of bent, young, swp and defoe are all happy so how do you suggest MON makes them unhappy, after all players being happy at their club is just an excuse.
MON hasn't given excuses he's given reasons that are completly out of his hands as to why he might not get the players he wants.
If he has identified players and randy has said he'll back him to get those players what more do you want them to do?
-
Not all clubs need players as much as Villa,
Not all clubs want to sell their best players.
If you'd be happy bringing in the sort of players fulham and wigan have then i'm sure we could have signed about 5 players by now
Getting quality players isn't an easy task and takes time.
-
There is no point arguing with TRL he obviously doesn't understand whats happening.
The simple fact that the biggest transfer so far has been boa morte to west ham for £5 million shows how stupid and pointless your constant moaning on this subject is.
-
Should rename this the countdown thread and keep the title up to date. Its the 11th tomorrow, and yet no action. Still we got looooaaads of time left.
Yep
I can't believe we are the only club not signing big name players right now, i mean west ham have signed a 31 year old winger and .............................................................. well thats it really.
Still that MON bastard allowing us to be left behind, sack him now!!!!!
-
i think beckham is good enough, i don't think he is still amazing because if he was then big teams would be after him.
The point is there is no other footballer in the world like beckham in terms of a celebrity lifestyle, he lives and loves the showbiz lifestyle and playing for world famous teams like man u and real madrid must really appeal to him
He's played with zidane and ronaldo will he want to come and play with mccann and angel?
-
if beckham is as good as some on here make out then we have zero chance of getting him.

Exactly
Lucas Neil may well be an improvement on what we've got but surely we haven't reached the stage were we have to pay the likes of him £50,000 a week.
