  1. only the short termists are worrying the long termists can see the plans and ambition something in my villa supporting life I have never seen.

    sums it up for me.

The results and performances haven't been consistently good this season but i have 100% confidence that MON and Randy will take this club were it needs to be over the next few years.

Saying we'd be better off with DOL is just stupid, maybe if DOL had arrived at the same time as randy things may have been different but to suggest that after he's 3 years here that things would have improved is just crazy IMO.

Every season got worse, the fans were fed up with him, the players were not playing for him and the decline would just have continued.

We have to wait untill at least december this year to truly judge MON, lets see what kind of a squad he builds and what tactics he will play with his squad next season before we judge his ability to manage aston villa

  2. MON is a new manager with new ideas, having to teach his tactics, to players he's never worked with before. It's a huge transitional period we're going through and that's why I believe had DOL still been here we would be doing much better right now especially after an £18 million or so outlay.

Well with that £18 million he would have had to replace some first team players that would have left and somehow changed the morale the players had under him.

I think this season is better because the team don't just give up and die if we go one down and the work rate for the majority of the season so far has been top notch. Like last season we still lack quality but seeing big john carew in action has been a highlight and an improvement on watching angel and baros try to play football.

  3. No thanks on Cisse.

He's powerful, but suffers from the odd problem for a striker in that to me, it seems like he can't actually shoot. He can't place a ball in the back of the net, or chooses not too. He just tries to hit it straight and hard.

    agreed

we need someone whose going to be clinical infront of goal to play upfront with big john

  4. it is amazing that so many Villa fans are giving O'Neill such an easy ride.

you sound bitter and angry that some of us don't want to jump on his back as quickly as you have.

You complain about the lack of goals we've scored but i don't see how you can blame MON for that.

Newcastle screwed us over with milner which meant gabby has had to play right mid apart from the last few games. Luke got injured so we've had to rely on a poor player in baros who didn't want to be here, angel whose goal scoring record over the last few years doesn't have to be brought up again and sutton who performed ok but is never going to score goals and struggled to stay fit. So again i don't see how he can be blamed for that.

TBH you were on his back 2 weeks into the job and before we'd played a game

You were on his back 5 days into the transfer window.

You said yourself villa are far away from being a european team but then you say that a manager in 13th place is massively underachieving at being a run of the mill manager.

will your attitude towards him change if we have a good season next year?

  5. I'd pay to send him away again... ever noticed that the dressing room seems to be harmonious again...?

No coincidence that the Big Mouthed Jug Earred Little Idiot has gone

FFS  and the award for the most pathetic post goes too??

    why is it pathetic?

i think the way hendrie is has certainly played a part in MON getting rid of him. It's not at all unreasonable to suggest that the dressing room atmosphere could improve when a known trouble maker like hendrie is not a part of it anymore.

  6. News of the World is reporting we're going to offer Angel plus £8m for Keane.

Not sure how I feel about that.

No, I would hate that  . If JPA has to go, I don't want him to go to another prem team - or even another English Team - Spain or back to River Plate - rather he stayed though and maybe started taking his coaching badge or maybe start doing media work - he could be really good at that.

Jesus. Some Villa fans have been deprived of true quality plyers for too long. Let the waste of space go.

    have to agree

He has done nothing for anyone to want him to stay around so much.

To move forward your supposed to get rid of the deadwood that holds you back, angel should be first in line for players we need to get rid of.

  7. LM - he had the same attitude when playing for the youths when he was a reservist and occasional bench visitor for the first team. He needs to look at the way the other first teams applied themselves as they were all excellent.

Laursen kept talking to the 'kids' whenever there was a break in play.

TBF i would imagine most 16/17 year old lads after making it into the reserves of the first team bench would go back to their youth team mates with a bit of a cocky attitude.

As long as he performs well for the first team i don't see a problem with having a cocky attitude, he is still only 21 so i'm sure over time he will mature as well.

  8. Luke 6 For those who believe he could lead the line in the Prem, then you are mistaken as he couldn't do it at this level in the first half and he didn't look ar purvey an interest level I expected of someone looking to play soon. Second half he was far better when Sam Williams played the target role.

hopefully against fulham we can see him upfront with big john playing the target man role.

He needs to play alongside someone who will do the physical stuff that is for sure. At times he looked totally disinterested and I hoped it wasn't him being 'billy big boots', he has the talent of that I'm quite sure it's just the application that I wonder about.

I have heard of him showing this kind of attitude in reserve games before.

TBF i think when ever he has played in the first team he has worked hard for the team.

I have no real problem with him feeling he is better than playing reserve level football, there is nothing wrong with a bit of cockyness however if that attitude is shown in the first team and he doesn't back it up with performances then i'd worry for him.
