Patrick I may be wrong but I am reading this in reference to Carew's obvious love of the move. Villa are his 5th club since 2000
The same could of been said about robbie keane when he first moved to spurs.
-
i think in the summer one of
defoe, keane, bent, ashton or bellamy will be a villa player.
-
Very good read
-
well MON has shown in a limited squad they are not first choices ....
I know but i hope he can see the potential in them.
-
i'd be upset if davis and ridge left.
Both are still young and both have shown enough to me that they are capable of becoming really good players.
In fact i'd say both are pretty good players right now
-
Ridge and Cahill will both have decent careers playing in the premiership and i hope it will be with aston villa.
Not many centre backs play as much as those 2 at such a young age and the more experince they get the better they will become. They both have the attributes to become really good players.
Laursen is different class, but to be fair we haven't seen enough of him on a regular basis, we don't know for sure he can be great on a consistent basis.
Mellberg has been a bit of form at times but he has been a very good defender for us over the years. How come he doesn't get the angel nice guy, model pro defence card played for him?
-
oh
I thought i might have missed something
-
are we interested in bale?
Have i missed some rumour or report?
-
MON has to be judged at key points in the season. OK this is just me, but keypoint number 1 was the day before Jan transfer window opened to see where we had progressed, what we need and suchlike. Keypoint number 2 will be at the end of Jan to see if we have addressed these issues and Keypoint 3 will be at the end of the season.
Then how can you make a comment like 'he has done bugger all'?
He has already got rid of players who have no future at the club, possibly broken the clubs transfer record by bringing in a very promising young player after beating other clubs to his signature and has now just got rid of a striker who has failed at the club and brought in one who has a fairly big reputation and looks like he will fit into MONS plans alot more.
He is building his team and i think most fans are happy to give him time to do this.
-
results are important but just like with DOL or any other manager i won't start getting on their back after a few months in the job and without the chance to bring in players.
If you got on the back of every manager and made sly digs towards them after they had just started then your right in saying that you are fair.
The problem I have and I guess many other people have is that much of your opinion (this article and the odd few posts excluded) seems to be enveloped by sly digs and sarcasm yet you constantly seem to accuse others of doing this.Agree with that totally
-
He's a fairly non-descript looking bloke, are you SURE it was him?
Good player for the record.
My best mate who was with me, is a Pompey fan, he was convinced, I am 120% sure it was him.
Stroke of luck that having a Pompey fan with you to identify him.
Just what i was thinking
Also don't players go to bodymoor heath and not the ground when discussing deals?
-
You have so many wrongs when you write LukeMoore...
Unlike saying lucas neil is world class
Bardsley might turn out good but as I see it you rate Bardsley higher than Neill...on what facts? You've accused me of things i have written before please start reading, i think neil is a better player than bardsley right now, however and this is the big point of the debate i would not want villa to pay someone like neil the money west ham are paying him.
havent seen many...if any...saying that we want Lucas Neill...I for one has said that West Ham show ambition and sign players. There is a world difference there my friend. If no one wants neil then why all the **** moaning, let west ham have him.
-
But he's better than what West Ham already have, therefore they have strengthened their squad, thus they may enhance their league position.
Maybe bardsley will turn out to be better than hughes and then we've done exactly the same.
I still can't believe people are unhappy because lucas neil hasn't come to us, it's lucas neil for gods sake.
-
as of the 18th of January we are the biggest losers in this windows. We have promised so much, and delievered yet so little (as of now).
I'm going to go and hang myself
Does anyone know the date Spurs got taken over and the business they did in their first transfer window? just curious
-
£3 million for Davenport? That's some great business by Spurs.
Dam we should have offered him £100,000 a week :winkold:
-
I dont want Torres..he is slow and average and he would take huge wages....OPS! I just thought I was LukeMoore..sorry
So because i don't want us to sign lucas neil on ridiculous wages means i wouldn't want one of the most highly rated youngsters in world football
Thats one of the weakest posts i've ever read.
For the record
I'm more than happy for villa to pay huge wages to quality players, not blackburns right back.
-
He just stated that he has no problem playing second fiddle behind Neville
He also stated that he would consider a move in the summer
-
Agreed. If he plays well, Man U will want him back... if he plays rubbish, we won't want him. either way, he'll be back at man u in the summer
So if he plays well he will happily go back and sit on the bench for the next few seasons.
He went on loan to rangers and now us because he wants to play first team football, if he has the chance to do that with us next season i think he'll take it.
-
McCann for example...a very average player...what is his salary? Baros looks average and Angel too...many players look very mediocre in today Villa...
I agree we have some very average players earning a good wage at villa so i don't see it as a positive move to bring in another average player and make him the highest earner.
Yet you must wonder..West Ham sign players...we dont...I don't want anyone they have signed this january transfer window
-
No I dont want Villa to pay £50.000 a week for Neill
if you had just said that from the start then i would have agreed with you.
Neil is an average player and i don't want aston villa to start paying ridiculous wages to average players just for the sake of it.
-
Maybe these teams has shown an initial interest in Neill, but they have players that be in that position that they still want or have at the club
So he's not good enough for them, ok i agree
You call a world class player..PROVEN!...an average playerYou question what i know about football and then call lucas neil proven world class :?
yet you hail our own players that hardly be anywhere close to national team as if they were world class playersWhere have i done that then?
Where did I mention that Villa should pay those wages for Neill? I just said that West Ham is showing ambition...So just to clear things up, would you want villa to pay lucas neil £50,000 a week?
-
so please read my posts before you decide to go 100% against everything I write...all the time...
It's nothing personal i just tend to disagree with most things you say.
The fact you joined in this discusion about neil and kept going on about how west ham have got themselves a good player and that villa should be prepared to pay those wages to lucas neil made me think you weren't happy that we hadn't got him.
If you don't care that we haven't signed him then we agree on something because i don't care either.
-
Lucas Neill was one of the players of the World Cup.
And milan baros won the golden boot at the euro champs
Like TT said if teams like barcelona, juventus and liverpool really wanted him he wouldn't be joining west ham now would he.
Or maybe those teams realise that paying an average player ridiculous wages is stupid
-
trust him as much as I trust our own manager Martin O´Neill.
Not once have i seen us linked with neil or read anywhere that MON was interested in neil so if you trust the manager why moan about the fact we haven't brought a player he probably wasn't interested in.

I think it's rubbish to suggest they haven't listened to supporters.
If it was just about changing to nike to make the most money why didn't doug do this? it's not like he had a dislike to making money is it
