  1. I just get the feeling that AVIL had more than a little to do with Rothchilds being appointed........

Michael Neville as part of his remit as a director in several board rooms is an advisor on mergers and aquisitions (amongst other things). I believe his experience in this field would indicate any stalling in the takeover would not be down to AVIL. Maybe he prefers working with professionals and was responsible for suggesting bringing a quality agent like Rothschilds in?

How could Neville appoint Rothchilds to sell something he doesnt own!

Maybe Neville suggested/recommended the appointment of Rothschilds to the board at Villa.

The press release from Villa stated.......

"The Board of Aston Villa has with immediate effect appointed Rothschild to act as financial adviser to help it determine the best strategy for the future of Aston Villa.

"This includes, amongst other strategies, seeking a possible acquirer for the company who would build on the achievements of the current management team and pave the way for future success."

Rothschilds have been brought in to handle/manage the sale IMO and remove Doug from the process.

    Just my take on things.

  2. To whom though

The PLC.......but no money has been spent yet which is what I was trying to say

Maybe the PLC didn't actually bring in Rothchilds at all.................

The Glaziers employed Rothchilds to facilitate their purchase of Man Utd.........

    Just guessing....

nah its a PLC appointment, thats the whole point

  4. I suspect the appointment of Rothchilds may have been partly due to AVIL.

Requesting an independent party to handle the sale and removing all the shite I suspect Doug threw at the proceedings previously. Maybe this will hasten AVIL taking over?

  5. Ellis is out of the loop - too ill, too old, too stubborn.

The sale will now be handled by proffessionals who will get the best deal for shareholders.

Ellis currently has virtually no power at VP in my opinion any more.

    Vive la revolution!!!!

  6. What if the Comers pull out, nobody comes in and Doug who still owns us says 'Not for sale anymore'?

I take it this Rothschilds are like an estate agents? You can always tell an estate agents that you don't want to sell anymore.

I would imagine that Rothschilds would demand a fee for their services up to that point. Their fee would usually come as a percentage of the sale but if Doug were to pull the plug he would have to dip into the coffers and cough up a considerable amount..... and we all know he doesn't like wasting money, and in this case it would be money for nothing.

Would I be right in thinking this?

Anyway, along with a few others, I feel Doug may have been removed from the loop.

  7. So blandy, just to confirm, you think Doug is after the highest price he can get and not neccessarily whats best for the future of Aston Villa FC?

I only ask because I thought the delay was all about finding the best people to take Villa forward and he wasn't just going to sell to any old asset strippers etc....

  8. I don't really know what I'm talking about here so please shoot me down if its bollox..........

If Villa are now up for sale then a takeover is, sooner or later, going to happen.

With this in mind, will the flagging share price pick up again with investers hoping to make a quick buck on the sale?

This will boost the share price and so inflate the clubs value with the city to something approaching dougs valuation.

Could this be a tactic to help Doug get the price he wants?

  9. A term used on the London Stock Exchange which refers to the period of time during which market makers in a security are obliged to display their prices. For SEAQ (Stock Exchange Automated Quotations Service), the period is from 8.00 am to 4.30 p.m.

    ........... and that means??

  10. Due to the clandestine nature of recent award threads I though it was about time the people, yes you, decided which mod was worthy of such responsibility.

So the question for this poll - Which moderator is least open to bribery and corruption?

PM me with your vote................... Ha, no need, simply use the poll function (only available OT I notice??!!? - is it broken?)

In time we shall see what the people decide.

    Power to the people.

  11. Why can't they bring back the terracing on the Holte. It was ace.

You can have safe terracing can't you? The place would be absolutely packed out, cheaper entrance price thus more people come to watch. I'm sure this would balance any perceived losses due to cheaper tickets.

  12. Sorry guys, somebody convince me that Baros is so much better than Vassel,

I think they score around the same number of goals a season, Baros may be greedier in the box but Vassel offers more as a "defence worrier" - pace just kills defenders.

If Baros comes then Vass will stay. It make no sense at all to get rid.

I hope he does stay but would how many strikers do we need? I can't see Vassell being happy as a bit part player at this stage of his career.

I think DOL would use all 4 strikers, change things around a up front during most matches.

He made good use of all his strikers during his Leeds days and I feel he'd try to do the same here.

BTW, found some stats from another thread........

    Baros

    Premier League:

    Goals: 19

    Avg goals/game: 0.29

    Appearances: 66

    Subs. (on/off): 21/25

    Vass

    Premier League:

    Goals: 35

    Avg goals/game: 0.22

    Appearances: 162

    Subs. (on/off): 55/45
