Wouldn't be surprised to see Levy play hardball and keep Kane for another year, losing him on a free at the end of next season. Newcastle finish top 3 as well as have a decent run in the CL - they go big and get him in as Kanes market gets smaller.

What confuses me about Villa Talk (and why I love it) is some of the directly conflicting info.
A lot of people seem to count our midfield as settled for next year - with Luiz, Kamara and McGinn.
And most people agree we need more goals. Those 3 have a total of 6 league goals. We need a lot more than that from the midfield 3 - and can't rely scoring from corners, and Forster not saving a free kick which is pretty much in the middle of the goal.
Add to that, our defence combined has scored 3 goals - including a free kick and a deflection. More needed from there too.I know the system we play is critical to who scores, but I think that all spots are up for grabs. As they should be.
If anything we need more from the Bailey/Buendia/Countinho area

They looked pretty knackered against Newcastle and got tanked 4-1.
And Everton

As a very aged supporter (65 next month!) of the Villa, having seen a few "ups" but more "downs" over the 55 years I have been able to see them play. I am still not counting my chickens until the final whistle next week.
It concerns me that many are assuming that we will win as Brighton will be on the beach (well it is literally all the time I suppose!). We still have to win and Brighton are a good team. I will not be able to look forward to any European adventures until we are at least 4 nil up with 1 minute to play....
All this talk of where the final is going to be etc I know is just banter but it could all come back and bite us in the arse....it would be the typical "Villa way"...I have seen it so many times..... 1 nil up and they equalise in the last minute of the game...........and we lose out due to results elsewhere.
Am I alone in thinking that its not going to be an easy game against Brighton?.......

Brighton are a tough team, no doubt. They're 6th for a reason. BUT, they've been wildly inconsistent the past few games AND they have to play Man City on Wednesday. Complacency could set in if they gather a draw which cements their 6th place finish, fatigue could set in if they're given a tough game. We get a week prep and a home game where a win gives us Europe. I know who I'm betting on.

I do love Watkins but I do wonder if we can afford a striker who blows so hot and cold with his streaks. Not sure it’s really enough. We definitely need to sign some proper competition for him.
When your sole striker is going through a rough patch you need your wide players and midfielders to step up and score in his stead.

It makes me nervous too, but the players look disciplined and are executing it well.

Good signing for Everton on a free for where they are. A good miss for us considering where we want to be.

I think Emery likes him too, he's just been unlucky with injuries. For sure think he has a part to play next season - we need the quality in depth and whilst he won't be starting for us bringing him off the bench is a threat to any team on his day.

Can't believe they went from getting hammered by Everton to hammering Arsenal.

We've one more to be announced against a big club in Europe.
I've no idea which big club in Europe, sorry.
We've agreed to a friendly against Barca as part of bringing in Alemany. Messi will be lining up against his old club in the claret and blue in time for this

It’s likely to be Spurs and Chelsea in the market for a new goalie this summer. Can definitely see a bid coming in from one of them. If one of them offers big money (more likely Chelsea than Spurs), I can see us leaving the decision to him.
Levy can piss off. You just know he'll bid 10m and some fringe player in exchange.

That Wolves loss will be the kicker. Absolutely gutted to have come away with nothing from that game.

Best of luck finding a club with more history...
I'm interpreting that as 'current history' - which in itself is a contradiction.

Behind Watkins with Bailey moving back to the right of a 4 in midfield and Ramsey pushing over to the left.
At the expense of Buendia / Countinho?

Realistically, if we do somehow manage to pull this off, where do you see him playing?
