more than a little, i reckon he would only join 2 clubs in our league
-
i can't see Carew ever being put inbetween the strikers and midfield
1 because he's the target man, and if we need to hit a long ball hes the man to get it too
2 because he has too much power and pace which would be wasted playing him in such a deep role
3 if we are going to put someone in attacking midfeild then he should be a creative player
-
i'd LOVE wright phillips
an SWP playing regularly for us with young on the other side, would be awesome
-
Why would we need SWP anyway? Where would he play?
on the right
allowing Young to play in his favoured position on the left
btw Milner has said today that he would love to win a trophy with Newcastle etc, so that one is probably out of the window
-
Everton can't afford Fernandes
i really really really hope we sign him up
yes 12 million is alot, but he is a champions league quality player of the future
he's only 21, if he stays for 4 - 5 years maybe longer he will be well worth the 12 million
as he is hardly a risk either having settled at both Everton and Pompey
-
and as much as i don't rate lampard, sidwell is hardly a good enough replacement
it's quite baffling tbh
i could understand them getting a centre back who probably isn't top top draw, but centre mid where they are packed full of talent?
-
jesus christ what an idiot
does he not realise that he will be competing with far superior players like lampard, mikel, essien and ballack
thats annoyed me, i honestly believed he was in the bag

SIDWELL TO BE THE NEW FRANK LAMPARD...OR THE NEW SCOTT PARKER
'Jose Mourinho has hijacked Newcastle's bid to sign Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell,' says The Sun.
'And the Chelsea boss is convinced he has got his man by offering him £50,000 a week.'
A deal with Newcastle has been widely touted as Sidwell's preferred option, while reports that he has already signed a deal with Aston Villa were floating around over the weekend.
'Chelsea have stepped in and topped the Toon's £40,000-a-week offer,' continues The Sun, leaving the Gossip Column shaking its head, should this be true, at the willingness of footballers to sit on the bench all year for a bit of extra cash.
Mind you, the rag also claims that Sidwell's recruitment is to cover for a departing Frank Lampard.
'The move for playmaker Sidwell also reopens the uncertainty around midfield ace Frank Lampard's future at Stamford Bridge.
'Lampard, 28, has still not signed a new contract at Chelsea with Spanish giants Barcelona keen on the England star.'
this was on the transfer gossip on football 365's site
i'd be happy if we signed him, hes a good player, who would definalty improve the squad
-
Is Sidwell a dead cert for Newcastle? because with Roeder gone he might consider playing for a better team
according to some reports over the weekend he has already signed a pre contract with us
i don't know what truth their is in that, but i'm pretty confident over us signing him, usually i'm pretty pessimistic when we are challenging with other teams for a player, but i'm confident over this one
-
If we do sign a defender in the summer how about Ezeiquiel Garay? From Sky sports stat centre (plays for Santander) He looks quite good IMO. Has anyone seen much of him?
he's amazing on the last 2 FM's
so must be good eh?
-
Not good enough for Spuds, definitely not good enough for Villa!!
he is good enough for spurs, hence him being linked with Man United
but fortunatly for Spurs they happen to have two other top class strikers as well, so he can't always play
he's not my first choice for the summer as i think he's quite lazy and has games where he just doesn't get involved enough, saying that though i would still be delighted if we signed him
as hes the sort of player i can never see us signing under the old regime
i'd much prefer robbie keane but he's out of reach now, but defoe is a lot better than bellamy IMO
i don't know about bent, defoe's probably more clinical but the fact bent can play both forward roles attracts me more to him.
-
that would be an exciting move
i've only saw him on youtube, but reading about him he has been touted as the next Zidane
he's only young but has made it into the France squad
he's also been wanted by Inter Milan and Arsenal in the past
i'd be delighted if MON was genuinly going for someone like him, but i'm not going to think about in case i get my hopes up too much
-
Koller is way too good to be a big man cover for us
plus he is 34, players that age want to play, and when you have players like Koller who would be wanted all over europe he isn't just going to settle for a bench role with us
-
fernandes is a quality player
i'd love him here, he was very very good at portsmouth, and has carried that form onto Everton
this kid is only 21 and he is producing top performances
-
i know you weren't asking me but i think it was Navy Blue Design Group
they definatly did the spurs badge anyway, i've just looked on their site
'Brian Homer' on H&V said this -
For the record this is what a guy from navyblue emailed me today:"The logo was actually designed by Randy Lerner at Aston Villa FC. We were only involved in organising and facilitating a workshop to help establish the brand values by talking to fans and various stakeholders."
So Randy's a designer too! I'm quite good at running credit card companies despite being a designer
-
just reading H&V and apparently it was Randy who designed the badge not pro designers...
-
thats just the sort of player we need for left back
if we got somone who was 26 - 29 they would expect to play regularly, and Bouma's form is too good to be dropped i.e samuel
so bringing someone young who can challenge his place and gradually take over the left back spot in coming years, but can't expect to play every game is a good move.
i would bet he's probably more attack minded also
-
We will 100% bring in a new centre back IMO
it seems we went in for Woodgate, just because we missed out on him i don't think that means we will give up on trying to bring one in.
I believe Laursen is over his injury problems, but its still a risk to just have two experienced centre backs available
Ridgewell is good, but i don't think he has the ability to improve as much as Cahill can, and become good enough for a much improving Aston Villa
i hope and think we will see a new centre back (similar in age and ability to Woodgate) and the sale of Ridgewell.

excellent article, and i'm glad the professional's can see what a poor crest this is,
i fear some of the people who actually like it just like it because its here and the chosen badge, i find it hard to believe that if we put some of the designs on this site and our previous crest alongside this one, that they would choose our current one as the badge of choice.
we should be looking for the best one, and as i said in another thread, one with a WOW factor, the only WOW factor this badge has is WOW this is really poor.
Main queries i have read on various forums is why has the lion been tamed? why have they used such poor fonts? why did you change a badge that was a pretty good one, in exhancge for this bland, basic, amatuer design?
Wasted opportunity somes all this up perfectly for me.

What? Because he is mixed race and looks like Ferdinand? That was a weird way to put it....
I don't think it has got anything to do with that. We are far past that race thing now in 2007 aren't we?
And he doesn't really look like Rio Ferdinand, are you talking about Anton Wink ?
i didn't mean the race thing
i mean like people see someone has a bright future, and see he has abit of pace and has the same sort of features as rio ferdinand and then automatically assume he will be a similar play to him when hes older in terms of ability
-
i havent seen curtis davies THAT much, but whenever i have i only come to the conclusion that he is very overrated
i can't help but think, if he wasn't mixed race and the build of ferdinand he would only have half of the attention he gets now
i get the impression, because he looks similar to ferdinand people expect he will autmoatically turn out like him
-
yeh i like mcshane but i've only saw him a couple of times
but what i can see is that he is very brave, the type to put everything he can in the way to block a shot, and put his head in where it hurts
i think he is best at centre back, but he's a very good right back who can attack also
if you remember back to the blues game, i'm sure he won the penalty from sprinting down the right, and also got took out by julian gray for the red card whilst he was sprinting through to goal
i can't really remember the game that well so that above might have been the same incident , but i don't think it was
-
I've read in a few sites in the last couple of weeks that O'Neill is interested in Sneider and Huntelar from Ajax, I dismissed it as ridiculous at first, but I keep seeing it.............
i haven't saw any of those reports
you got a link?
-
dyer was playing, he's one of the most overrated players i've ever seen
its laughable that hes on 80k and spurs's highest earner is keane on 43k

the only way we will sign SWP is if someone like Ricardo Queresma goes to Chelsea
if they don't sign a new right winger, then he'll still be there next season
