  1. I agree with the General in regards to that poster. The comments about transfers and 'world-class players' by Richard Fitzgerald were just naive at worst.
  2. I sat in the Trinity Road Upper (A1 seating area) for this match and there were two Liverpool fans in front of me. I am with others, the club needs to do work to find out who brought the tickets and for the appropriate action to be taken. Furthermore away fans caught in amoungst home fans should be thrown out of the ground. We need to take a hard line on this issue. Catering was abominable. There were still cues ten minutes into the second half and almost everything was sold out before the half-time interval was even over. I was left with a choice of chips or chips. One bloke shouted at the catering staff "We pay a lot of money to watch that shower of s*** out there (pointing to the pitch), we shouldn't expect the same thing buying a pie and a drink." He has a point General. I too am not going to bother again until I hear of significant improvement on VillaTalk. Very positive feedback on the cosmetic changes. Thank you for doing such a great job in and around the ground.
  3. General, I've been ringing the consumer sales telephone number since 6pm but all it does is ring out. Are the opening hours still until 7pm?
  4. Thanks General. I have no issue with it and I understand it, I just wanted to be absolutely clear because a lot of people have hinged their expectations on Richard's quote. From now on I'm crystal clear. P.s. I think it's really great Mr. Lerner has a Villa tattoo. Now what about you :winkold:
  5. General, a point which I think has been missed whilst discussing your last post/rant. Where does this leave us in regards to Richard Fitzgerald's past/future quotes? Should we take them with a pinch of salt, that they are just his opinions and not those of Aston Villa Football Club? It's just we British take official public statements at face value, this new spin I don't know where it leaves us and official announcements as you've put them down to opinions. I'm a little confused by this. From within the club who should we be listening to for the official word if not our CEO?
  6. I'm absolutely with John here. What's going on? The fans have done there bit by coming back in droves buying season tickets, but where's the beef from within Villa Park?
  7. General, love the kits! The home shirt is the best we've had in years! Great job.
  8. I agree with this entirely. I have to ask why not? I believe many people will have brought their season tickets in good faith on the back of statements made from within Villa Park. I'm not saying I'd go that far myself because thankfully there's a little bit more to me then that, but I certainly didn't buy my season ticket with the thought I'd be watching the likes of Marlon Harewood in a Villa shirt next season. Whilst we are buying the Marlon's of the world teams like Spurs are making a genuine attempt to gatecrash the top four this season. I perceived the words of Mr Fitzgerald to mean we'd be attempting to do the same, like the majority of other Villa fans. Quite frankly sir that statement looks a little empty right now. This said I still love you, Randy and Martin O'Neill. I'm just a little disapointed.
  9. General, RE: Primary Presidential Debates Have you watched any? What do you make of the Republican candidate Ron Paul?
  10. OT - its showing up fine on my computer lot's of sale stuff on there.
  11. Cheers General, I just e-mailed her a screenshot of that. She'll be jumping around the house :notworthy:
  12. I like that marketing idea drat01 and LJRM050389 regarding the yourth/reserve players signing on the pitch (I remember that too). General, I think the scarves are a great and really enhance the visual support of our club, but during the warmer months I don't foresee myself and perhaps many others bringing scarfs to the games so therefore I think flags are also a great idea as this was a suggeston put forth recently in the thread. I will be bringing my 10 year old sister Lucy to her first full season at Villa Park this year, neither of us can wait. Thanks again to Randy and everybody involved with the club.
  13. More like it than don't so far... it's about the majority not the minority. And I am not referring to everybody who doesn't like it, it's the way some have just gone on and on about it, there's even been talk of a petition! The likes of Risso, Rocafella and others. Surely they have better things to do than spend all day scouring the crest of their team?
  14. Fortunately no, I have a life! I can't be checking Villa sites all day... The badge is great, the overaction by some is just pathetic.
  15. I think it's great and every other Villa fan I've spoken to today has commented positively about it. It only seems like here on Villatalk that it's the same people overreacting needlessly.
  16. A great day to be a Villa fan. Thank you to Mr Lerner and the management team.
  17. Rest assured the club are working hard on these commercial issues as Mr Krulak has previously said. We must be patient, we need to constantly remind ourselves that it is going to take time, Rome was not built in a day. They will get the job done! - Aston Villa, the global brand. Mark
  18. You and your family have a good one General! And to all the other VT'ers.
  19. Cheers John. I'm going to go to bed dreaming of that image. Aston Villa once again lifting the European Cup. Glory days.
  20. Don't tell me you wouldn't love to take that poll General... :winkold: Thank you for taking the time to answer my post on marketing and commercialism. It is an area I am genuinely excited about, anticipating what we are going to do to advance our club in these areas because we have stood still and done little here for so long. On Randy playing the guitar. I work in the mainstream UK music industry (and occasionally in the US) so contact me if Randy ever wants to play some gigs here! A night of guitar with Randy and Steven Stride, also an accomplished guitarist! Do you play anything General? We may have a band here... Mark Jones
  21. General, I read the brilliant interview you did on another site. I have been thinking about the brand of Aston Villa and the many ways in which this could be maximised all over the world. For years our marketing and commercial departments have been inaffective, lacked imagination and have been deviod of any innovative ideas in this area, even getting us out sufficiently in the UK. I absolutely understand we've only just begun the process but what new areas do you forsee us going into to maximise the commercial brand potential of Aston Villa? No doubt Mr Kain's experience offers us a huge advantage and ensures no stone will be left unturned in the quest to see this is done but in what areas will we see the major advancement of the Aston Villa brand? Best regards, Mark Jones
  22. We're still very proud to have you General, you were a part of a team who served and we have the greatest respect for those in the armed forces. It is your sacrifice that allows millions over the world to live in freedom.
  23. We're building. We'll go back there in a few years time and knock them out the cup. Onwards!! There's a game to win on Saturday.
