Lerner's statement doesn't shed any light on it and doesn't deny anything either. He may well be happy to not deny outright because it keeps this feel good factor going through our last few fixtures towards survival. There could also be new investment with him staying on as owner or there could be new owners altogether.
My thoughts exactly.

Anyone else just think this is another club constructed rumour to deflect attention of the current situation ?
Or improve season ticket sales?

If Culverhouse is so unlikable and bad in his coaching it makes you ask why has Lambert had him as a right hand man for almost all his managerial career? A crazy day at Villa, but if it clears the air then so be it.
good cop bad cop maybe?

A lot depends on which saints team turns up. Maybe after what happened to Rodriguez, the other England hopefuls may take it easy..... lots of straw clutching here by the way

Yeah, me, the son and the brother in law are all renewing. What else have we got to do on a Saturday afternoon/evening, Sunday afternoon, Monday/tuesday/Wednesday evening?

Get gabby Delph and kea back in I think we can get a point here.
With these 3 back, I can feel a sneaky away win.

Just home in a state of shock. I can't think constructively. My mind is a horrible collage of painful things. Sitting for an hour all the way home on the 11 with the bus in complete silence. Holte Lower faction chanting "Lerner Out". Lads and lasses around where we sit all as pig sick as each other. "Why is he bringing Bowery on?" "Why is he taking Albrighton off?" "Four minutes to play and he is making a substitution" "Why can't Baker pass to one of his own men?" "Why are they jogging with the ball instead of running flat out with it?" "Why does Guzan keep hoofing the ball?"
The sum total of all this horrible stuff is that that was as bad a performance as any I have ever seen.
I said to a few mates this morning if we lose today the problem is that the owner and the CEO will just not care. Neither of them has any love for the Villa. They feel no pain at a performance like that just something to have a look at fixing on Monday morning if anything needs fixing at all they would add.
This is an almost word for word exact post from Brian Green on the H&V forum.

This is a must win as opposed to, a must not lose. The sooner we get over the 40+ point mark, the better.

1-1 will do for me. Then 3 points against Fulham. Survival sorted.

He needs a proper CDM next to free his shackles i think! He's a good passer of the ball and keeps us ticking over like Barry did!
yeah, he needs a tough tackling minder to look after him.
-
I like the guy, but he will never make a premiership player.
-
I know it's been said umpteen times before but considering the financial constraints he's working under, he's managing to keep us ticking over, all be it playing very poor tactics.
-
2 words We wouldn't.
-
4/5 players in the England squad. This would mean we ain't doing to bad in the league.

He had a mare v Norwich at home last year with the 1st half red card
He really hasn't recovered any form since that game.

Problem is that he is an out and out striker and is probably only effective in a pairing with Benteke.
I know we played well with all three of them last year but I think only one between him and Agbonlahor should play.
Good point

I think people are under estimating how poor we were 2nd half .
We are are a 45 minute team. Poor in either the 1st or 2nd half of games. Even in the games we've won, we've looked a bit ropey in either half.

The lad's will be well up for this 3-0 to our Villa boys

Benteke reminds me of the modern day Nicklas Anelka. Another great young prospect who was given the wrong advice and ended up playing football for the highest bidder.

If we're still going to live by the "young and hungry" type players we hear so much about, then why not former Porto striker Walter? He currently plays in the Brasilerao for Goias.
Young? Check. Hungry? Apparently so.
He looks like a fat and older version Gabby.
He''s near death mate. STARVING!
-
He reminds me of Flo the ex Chelski forward

I watched the game on the telly with my Dad, God rest his soul. He hired a colour telly especially for the game. We were both stunned, gobsacked and really proud when the final whistle blew and we realised we had beaten the mighty Bayern Munich to actually win the European cup.

These results that are needed for us to go down:
Chelsea beat Villa.(70% likely)
Wigan beat Arsenal (10% likely)
Sunderland beat Southampton (or Spurs) (55% likely)
Newcastle beat QPR (or Arsenal) (65% likely)
Norwich beat WBA (or Man City) (50% likely)
Southampton beat/draw Stoke (65% likely)
Wigan beat Villa (?)
So it's seven games that will decide it. From that lot I think it's a Wigan victory against Arsenal that seams least likely. But they did it last year, so let's not rule that out just yet.
I still fear having to play a cup final against Wigan on the last day of the season. If they beat Arsenal and we lose against Chelsea, they will see that game as a massive get out of jail card. We will be terrified of losing. Not a good situation at all.
Hmm. Must say I've been relaxing since Wigan/Swansea but this has made my chest tighten up a bit.
100% agreed

I wonder what odds you could get on us winning our remaining 3 games?
