Smetrov will you ever post a reply without mentioning the ambition of Lerner. Lerner's ambition can only be questioned when the manager is appointed and at this moment no one has unless you know something different.
Quite Right. But he appointed Houllier. And now looks set to appoint a 2nd rate manager IMO because he doesn't want the hassle of appointing a stronger manager.
Again a blanket statement with no factual evidence. Houllier was the best manager and as Trent displayed the majority on here were behind the appointment when he was appointed so what does that say, us fans get it wrong too. I'm not going to get into an argument but i'll tell you what if you think some arab will come and splash billions on Villa, no chance it'll happen.

They rate Downing at 10Million but Ngog at 7Million. Rafa is a genious for getting him on the cheap and his value increases to 7Million. Ridiculous.

Someone must have purchased the mail by now to give us an update?

Steve McClaren is NOT the leading contender for #avfc job. See today's Birmingham Mail for full story
Just logged in to post that too.
@MatKendrick
Mat Kendrick
Steve McClaren is NOT the leading contender for #avfc job. See today's Birmingham Mail for full story
Tease...the selling of newspaper business I guess
I told you yesterday, Mat Kendrick knows a lot more than he's actually letting on to. He threw the Steve McClaren so the rest of the press bought it and guess what they did.
-
Like I said Kendrick knows more than he's letting on in my opinion.

I'd take Rafa, because I think his style would suit the personnel that will be (left) at our club.
He gained a lot of success with the 4231 formation at Liverpool, which was deployed quite narrowly. Not only would this suit Bent, but it would also cater towards the high number of Central midfielders we have at the club. Could imagine Makoun flourishing in the Xabi alonso role.
I agree with you for once!!

Not saying the manager will be everyones cup of tea but i really doubt its McClaren.
-
If it is, then who is the mystery manager and will it be of Darren Bent proportions?I honestly think Mat Kendrick and Tim Abraham have been fed the line about McClaren to put them and the rest of the press of the scent, it seriously reminds of the Darren Bent deal.I am convinced that is exactly what has happened.
I just think they're feeding the McLaren line, which most of the press have picked up on now. Just think they know more than they're letting on in my opinion.

Gadzooks, can i just say i thought Moyes was a cert to be a manager and then Ancellotti and now a bet has been placed on Coyle.
-
Lerner has only arrived this morning so i think it'll be Thursday before we have a clear idea of who the targets are.
I think we'll only find out when a new manager is appointed unless the manager in question lets the cat out of the bag
What i mean is we will have a fairly good idea of who it will be. Similar to Houllier.

Fulhum, a club reportedly smaller than we are, have managed to appoint a manager who will probably be better than who we appoint (unless we get Moyes), in less time.
What are the excuses? Because this is heading in a dangerously similar direction to the Houllier appointment, having started off quite promisingly. For whatever reason, we've now missed out on 2 of my top 3 choices, and unless we get Moyes, then we'll have been out done by this man:
You went to all that effort for this post. I'd say Rafa and Hughes are better than Jol.
You'd be surprised how easy it was to find a picture of Al Fayed looking stupid M10.
We'll revisit this when the new manager of AVFC is appointed.

Talksport Drive Time, say the same source who told him about Tevez going to City has said McLaren will not be going to Villa.
-
You ignore the fact that Fulham have a game to play in the next month. So you understand why they acted so swiftly. Villa do not want to mess this appointment up.
-
Mat Kendrick doesn't know what he's let himself in for, he is going to get bombarded now.

Hughes IS on the shortlist, not sure about McLaren
Repeating what MM said, not whether he's right or wrong. My opinion on Hughes if he was on the list, I'm pretty sure he'd be signed up by now and we're reading far too much into his contractuals.
we have a good relationship with fulham, so it wouldnt surprise me if we were waiting for them to get something sorted so they'd let us talk to hughes
If we had a good relationship with Fulham we would have tried to deal no matter where Fulham were in their search for a replacement. Remember Hughes RESIGNED.
-
He's not a winger though is he, he's a CM isn't he. I know he can do a job out there but i think you could get someone better but can see Dalglish is trying to build a british spine to your side.
