  1. They simply have nothing to write about so are coming out with this stuff. If Lerner was more like Whelan or Redknapp - giving them good quote to write about our managerial and player targets then Villa would be loved by the media and there wouldn't be any rubbish like this. I guess it's over to Randy to silence them..... would you not agree that the whole Martinez saga was an embarrassment, so it's ok saying our board do it all behind closed doors and in the meantime the public image of our club is damaged, unless he pulls an ace form his sleeve in the next few weeks, some serious questions need to be asked and god forbid answered by the board

  3. If you give these hacks even the slightest benefit of the doubt you really need to revise your world view. Granted it' quite scathing on the board, but the crux of the articles as i said isn't far off the mark, the board have been shown up by Whelan, someone who is old school and knows all the trick and how to perform them exactly like Doug was, and they do appear to be dithering
  4. Just gave it a quick read, and isn't far off the mark, Doug would never have got suckered in to what Whelan did, slag him all you like but he knew what the football business was about, and at the minuter our board don't look like they do, i hope i'm proved wrong
  5. I'm coming round to the possibility that it'll be Martinez, the only worry i have is the defence, his teams ship a lot of goals, no prem team, no matter how bad they are, should ship 9's and 8's, once could be a fluke, but twice?! all in all hoped for more but definitely could have been worse.
  6. I personally can't see Moyes doing anything spectacular, he's been at Everton for almost 10 years, flirted with champs league only to beaten by a strong Villareal side, been close to relegation a couple of times, he's lucky he has a good chairman in Bill Kenwright or he'd have been sacked during those bad seasons, so all in all for someone who's been at a club for that amount of time and been able to put is stamp on the club you'd expect a minimum top 7 finish every year, they are as good he's going to get them with his capabilities, he's found his level, similar to Sam Allardyce, people say that he's never had money to spend, not sure off the top of my head but i bet the Everton spend isn't a million miles away from what our average spend is (Bent aside) For me we really need to do something different and the right foreign manager who is able to attract the right players is what's needed, ideal world it would be Ancelotti, but please lets all hope our chairman is not fooled by McClaren and his half arsed league win in the Netherlands, please look at his Boro, England and Wolfsburg records
  7. Hi General Great news on the season tickets prices, i think it's laughable that people are complaining about them, the facts are that we've been under paying on u-16s/kids tickets for ages, £195.00/£10.80 per game is great value for kids One concern i do have is regards to my sons ticket, it's in the upper Trinity middle, this season is ok as i get to pay the u-16s rate becasue i'm renewing, but i noticed any new tickets are sold at full price for that area of the ground, how will it work in the future will i have to buy him a full price tickets for the season after next?? UTV!!!
  8. Hi General I just wanted to voice my concerns to you, firstly the Eduardo chant issue, would it be possible to put something in the program condemning these supporters Secondly, my young son and I attended our first ever reserve game recently, there were a group of around 8 young lads chanting "your support is f***ing sh*t", i just don't think this is needed at a reserve game All this aside i am absolutley over the moon for everything that is happening at Villa Park
  9. Ha, quick response, cheers General, i'd definitley buy one try and get them in stock before the cold weather disapears
  10. Really stupid queston General, I saw Randy on the TV at last nights game and would like to know where he got his scarf from, it looks really smart and i would like to buy one thanks in advance
  11. Howdy General Firstly may i thank Randy Lerner yourself and the rest of the directors for dragging Aston Villa into the future, god knows we needed it!!!!! i'm going to have a bit of moan now so i apologies in advance, i just feel that we have put ourselves in a bit of precarious position with possible signings, i know this isn't something you can comment on, but you must be able to see that we are now looking like a club desperate for new signings, and what worries me is that we will end up paying over the odds for players who may not have been our first choice targets, due to other clubs knowing we need players Also other than MON does anyone else advise Mr Lerner on footballing matters??? it's not all moaning though, i think eveyrthing you're doing for the club is great and to be honest MON will probably pull 2-3 great signings out the bag make my above post look stupid and we will all wonder what the fuss was about Anyway here's to a succesfull season Thank's for listening
  12. I think everything that is known has been shared. No one is privvy to the exact dealings except those involved directly in the takeover. And I am in the same boat as you, waking up at 5 am in a cold sweat hoping it's sorted. Worse than University final exams IMO. ok fair enough just desperately searching for any crumb off info, i have actually forgotten all my childrens names and another week off this i think i will be bankrupt.
  13. I wrote a long answer, then deleted it, and was gonna say refer Martin Samuel's article in the Times a couple of weeks ago, then i thought, of an analogous situation Rich people from the UK buy run down Vineyards, or Villas in France, or Tuscany. They do so not because they want a semi derelict property somewhere abroad, but because they see themselves sat on a veranda in the sun, looking out over the sun setting behind the Olive trees, as crickets chirp. Perhaps drinking a glass of locally produced wine. They also have an eye that the value of the property could treble as "the area catches on". They've maybe read or heard of an early mover from their town who has taken the plunge. It's about a dream and an interest and the allure of a return on the investment. It's about being one step ahead of the crowd. But all that's just a dream and "maybe one day", then some documents from Rothschilds land on your doormat "For Sale, ancient property, scope for improvement, price reduced due to poor state of property, this type of offer doesn't come round often..." Then you look into it, find there's a cantankerous old scrote occupying the property, along with a few faithful retainers. You see that they can't manage to look after it properly, even though they like the prestige of being the owner of the Big House....." With experience in your own country of reviving a similar property, with money in the bank, who wouldn't be interested? Here ends the middle class analogy. Another Gin & Tonic, Cyril? thank you very much, the first thing that has genuinley made me smile all day i reaaly mean it, sincere thanks
  14. No, I dont know anything except that this interview tonight doesnt change anything really. Its a guy desperately playing for time IMO. If he is desperately playing for time, then time is a real issue, no? i think if moderators on this board know more about whats going they should try and put peoples mind at rest and give an indication off what is happening people on this board are in contact with peolple ref the bid because it has been previously staed on this board i am grown man with 3 children this situation is starting to consume my life, please for love off god let it be over.
  15. They had Bill Howell on and he said it is 100% guaranted that Oit just show what high regard people have for the club, every one just had good things to say about us.
