  1. I am all for this secret underworld of information to figure out where our club is heading! Of course it's speculation but it's fun!

    Question for TheTrees.

These private planes can they actually get across the Atlantic on one tank of fuel? Or do the Bigwigs fly business to somewhere in Europe and use their private plane to get around?

If they are big enough to cross the Atlantic would this Rob Rich guy not just offer a lift to his Lawyers?

Just curious not a dig or anything.

People with serious money don't fly scheduled, they want to go to where they want to go to at their convenience.

The larger private jets easily swallow up distance, range is not a problem.

Smaller ones, like the lawyers', require a fuel stop en route.

By nature of their title, they are private. It is unlikely that they would offer a ride to the hired help.

Besides which they came over the Atlantic on different days.

  2. Is it just me ?  I cant be arsed all this investigation and research,  why not just let it play out and see what happens.  Worrying about it wont make it happen any quicker.

Nothing to worry about, we are just sitting here waiting for an ITK to throw crumbs.

    Any offers? ;)

  3. Dare I say... Fully fit our squad isn't as bad as the records show...! But on the other hand you have to expect the injuries and fulfil the void left by others... I think you'll be surprised if lambert left, they'd be another 10 managers lined up around the same calibre...

    *Prepare for the bombardments*

I think the problem is, if Lambert left, would a new manager want to come, when he would know that the new owners might not like him and he could be sacked within a few months of being here, if a takeover happens? To me, you're not going to get many committed managers in those circumstances, just a journeyman looking for a last payout, playing the 'committed manager to this big club' act.

If a new manager were to come, I think that you will find the same situation as we saw with O'Neill, where it is the new owner that rubber stamps the appointment.

  4. That world cup passed a lot of residents of England by, for the simple fact that England were not there. It was actually a great tournament, probably a higher standard of football then 1990, but no one ever raves about it in England for the aforementioned reasons.

Did you watch South Africa 2010?

    A bit, but not much.

But then I doubt whether I'll watch much of this one, despite the location.

World Cup tournaments used to have the fascination of the unknown. Now you just end up watching Chelsea/Arsenal/Manure/Liverpool tossers that you despise on a weekly basis anyway.

  5. In 1964 Bob RIch just missed out on getting into the US Ice Hockey team that competed at the Olympics. Thirty two years later he was inducted into the frozen food hall of fame joining his Father.

    The American Dave Whelan!

So Bob Rich has 'flat packed' frozen food companies as well?

  6. I've been to Jakarta. Traffic is shit.

Yep, but for a big city, the people are so lovely.

The TMII educational 'theme park' is fabulous, well worth a day or two's wanderings

  7. Tried on the IWC Portofino Chronograph on Saturday. Way too big for my puny wrists.

Not too sure whether to go for the straight Portofino, nice and simple, but quite beautiful. Or something else.

Any watch fiends suggest anything in the less than £5k bracket?

You must have wrist like Keira Knightley, that's only a 42mm case. So assuming you want some something similar, ie a classier looking chronograph rather than a sporty model, in under 42mm, what about the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Chronograph?  40mm case:

But hang on, haven't you got one of those horrible Panerai things ;)  Surely they're all at least 47mm and much bigger than that IWC?

Thanks. Me and KK are one ;)

    I don't have a Panarei-someone else guv.

Like your suggestion. The wife is clicking on the checkout but I think maybe a tad too much.

  8.

The good thing about being a pessimist is you are either constantly proved right or pleasantly surprised.

I guess its that the plane went to Luton first - and Lamberts comments about nothing being on the horizon that put a dampner on it [bob Rich] for me.....

    Why?

When Mr Lerner arrived to meet O'Neill just before he was unveiled as the manager he flew into Luton as well.

Pretty much every US owned long haul exec jet pitches up at Luton at some point-it is their main gateway to London

  10. Please stop posting things in this thread which should be in the Lambert thread.

Now you have dragged things back around, any chance of correcting the spelling of the thread title?

... shall I just remove the word after the $200? Or do you mean that it should say "Indian"?

    Word removed?

    Surely not ;)

Thanks a Million, by the way.

(and I wasn't taking the p. I do sympathise with the mods at the moment. Threads are being zapped all over the place)

  11. democracy involves debate, if someone states their opinion others ae allowed to question it, this is democracy in action, certainly not trolling

in the democracy that is VT, I wholly disagree with you on this point.

Trolls are easy to sniff out, and glaringly obvious.

But you are a mod, so I shall desist from further comment.

  12. It's interesting how you argue seemingly support Rendelc's vote for UKIP then when Blandy brings up some valid points about Farage you change your argument to the cheap point scorer "Uhh... all politicians are bad!" *phew*

I didn't change anything, I argue for democracy, period. The guy put forward his view, and you jumped on him, as you do, in some kind of attempt at being cleverer than him - trolling, plain and simple.

And I didn't see me 'point scoring' against anyone, but maybe that is why you contribute to this thread. I don't need to score points against anyone.

  13. We are avfc and at one time we were shopping at sainsburys and now lambert has been told that to appease the fans appetite he can do so but only going to Lidl...

Pretty hard that unless you are Raymond blanc or Gordon Ramsay, avfc can't get Gordon Ramsay, we have that guy from Saturday kitchen

And Mr Lerner's reign all started with Anthony Worrall-Thompson ;)

  14. But, but...splutter...Farage is the cheeky, anti-etablishment outsider* Not like the others.

*obviously by "outsider" I mean an MEP for the last 13+ years on a big salary, with allowances of millions more on top. And from a typical outsiders background of private school education, fancy College and then following in his fathers footsteps and taking up a career in stockbroking. He would never, sorry does "employ" his family to work for him on expenses.

Well UKIP isn't backed, sorry is backed by multimillionaires like the tories are. Outsiders, see. The little chap standing up for the downtrodden.

Who could possibly not want to fall for them? even with their collection of racists, bigots, xenophobes and religious nut jobs.

Unfortunately a lot of people, and if that is the way that they wish to vote, in a democracy, that's up to them.

It's a free country, which means giving a platform to people whose views that some of us are not in tune with, and do not like to hear.

Unfortunately for a seemingly small amount of us, that is just about everyone who has a platform, but that's life.

The only joy that I get out of this poll is that I have put an unopened David Cameron into the recycling today.

  15. Sorry, I forgot that democracy isn't open to debate. Certainly that's why the Tories brought in that gagging law.

I liked that 'student' line, very amusing :thumb:

Damn it CED, the man is just tired!

Basically those who wish to 'debate' democracy stamp it out, so no debate.

So maybe you are even further to the left than you seem?

  16. Yeah, that's unfair. People can vote for whoever they like. All I ask is for them to be aware that the man they are voting for is a racist, privileged scumbucket.

If you are misusing the word 'racist', something common of people with an agenda, yes.

Privileged? More than likely, like Cameron and Milliband, and possibly Clegg (I don't know on that one)

Scumbag? Possible, like Cameron and Clegg, but not Milliband, he's a nice chap-it's his predecessors and his brother and mate the other Ed that are scumbags.

  17. By asking a legitimate question? Go and do some plane spotting or whatever it is you actually do. :)

It wasn't legitimate, it was trolling, and you know it but, as is the way with ideological students, you would never admit it.

  18. Maybe he knows that eventual new owners won't keep him.

In businesses there are always people who keep jobs where their bosses don't actually know what they do.

Paul Lambert has 36000 people who have no clue what he does, so a new owner will make it 36001.

  19.

Anybody intending to vote on Thursday, get a good nights sleep. Otherwise you may inadvertently put and X in the UKIP box.

    Remember. Tiredness makes you racist.

I will definitely put an x in the UKIP box.
    Aww bless. Go to bed.

    Wide awake .

I take it you agree with their tax and NHS policies too then?

    Trolling on VT?

I never thought that I would see the day

It's a democracy. Leave the guy alone.

  20. I find it amazing that there are people who fly from Luton to Birmingham, that's about an hour and half by road. Must have been something worth the fuel consumption. Unless Luton is such a shithole that he needed the quickest possible way out. It's exciting stuff anyway. Cheers thetrees!

Not unusual for an aircraft to drop at one airport, leaving their occupants to do the business, and then position empty to another airport in readiness for their departure from the country.

  21. So am I right in saying:

The Trees identified a jet from a NY-based law firm and now Rob Rich, a NY-based businessman's jet that has never been to BMX turn up in the same week. He has close links with the Lerner family, sponsors a non-league football team in England and has written a book on sports management. Would be a hell of a coincidence.

    Yes,

Rob Rich's jet is a fairly regular visitor to the UK, mainly using Luton or Farnborough. It arrived at Luton (I think) on Saturday and came up to BHX, for the first time, lunchtime today.

The law firm jet arrived direct from the US late yesterday afternoon.
