Passing is so poor today
-
Collins will tire as the game goes on. His concentration is dog shit and Villa will be able to exploit that later on
-
Need to calibrate their passing. Were the balls in warm up weighted or deflated?

Great. Lee Hendrix on co-comms. That's 90+ minutes of not shutting up
Brentford through on goal there. Hendrie just still talking as if it's not happening. Offside but still. Commentary is about knowing when not to talk

There were some home supporters who also thought it had gone in

Up until then, we'd looked the most likely next scorers.
Pity we didn't score

If someone paid 25m for cash they definitely would have no brains alright
Yeah Dwight Yorke went for £12.6 million. Are we saying Cash is worth twice as much as Dwight Yorke?

Absolutely not. Could completely destabilise the dressing room. Imagine Grealish coming back in, thinking he's a champions lrague winning big shot and Mr Villa and that the fans love him, then trying to take complex tactical instruction in imperfect English from Unai.
He would revert to being like a bold child in school who doesn't understand anything the teacher is saying so will spend his days messing and answering back and disrupting. May as well put him straight in the bomb squad. His career is on a downward trajectory, and he will never respect another manager as much as Guardiola.
So many reasons for No.

Watching that mic'd up business with michael owen and Howard webb about the red vs spurs. Yeah look it's probably a red, but listening to the fourth official shouting FOUL FOUL and then the AR2 ref shouting down the mic WATCH THE REACTION. Like do you want to calm down? Why are you shouting?
Just ramping up the noise in the ref's ear. Just seems very unprofessional and unnecessary. Yeah it was probably a red, but if it was given as a yellow i don't think anyone would have complained too much.
Hard not to give a red when the assistant refs are losing their **** minds though.

He’s right that Toney is a better penalty taker and if we’re in a shoot out we’d all pick Toney over Watkins. But Watkins is far more likely to get you further in the competition than Toney who is miles off it last time I watched him.
Yeah I would only let Watkins take penalties for the opposition, but Merse's idiocy is that the back up striker is irrelevant because if Kane misses games it's guaranteed elimination.
In back up, you would only have the player with the second most goal involvements in Europe's top 5 leagues. Only Mbappe has more.

The Government are now moving forward with this and it's interesting to see the various reactions.
I think as with a number of things it was inspired by 'somebody trying to stop the Saudi's doing what they wanted' and the effect that had on relations with the UK government, but there's still an awful lot of positive stuff in it. It promises an oversight for football with the potential ability to stop clubs ripping off supporters, attempting to join other leagues, move away from their local areas and fall into real financial difficulties.
The Premier league hate it - which probably means it's a good thing.
Anyways, if you're as bored as I am in international week and you want to have a look, all of the documents are here:
Whatever is driving this is almost certainly not in the interest of fans.

Paul Merson says that Toney should go to the euros instead of Watkins. His reasoning is that Kane will play every minute of every match and Toney is better at penalties so he should be there just in case a game goes to a penalty shootout.
Within the first paragraph he argues that having a good back up striker would be irrelevant because if Kane gets injured, England won't win the tournament anyways.
It's the most asinine football opinion I think I've ever heard. It's bait, but even by Merse's standards it's stupid.

With a bit of luck he can become our all time PL goal scorer by the end of the year.

Getting up before 6am to go to work. Set my alarm last night for 5:50am and not only did I have to get up and walk briskly to the bus stop, once I get to work I'm going to have to do things. They're going to make me. It doesn't seem right. Being up at this hour should be enough.

I actually agree with this but don’t underestimate how far you can get with these attributes!
out of interest though. Can you name many 20 year old strikers that can show all those attributes you mentioned at the highest level?
I just wonder if you can coach instincts. I remember a 19/20 year old Adama Traore arriving with all the power, pace, running, dribbling but when it was time for decision-making or positioning he was found lacking.
We all argued that if we could coach him to make the right decisions and introduce the ability to look up to find a pass he would be the business. He's still playing PL which isn't a bad outcome but I feel like they're still trying to teach him to look up 9 years later.
What I'm unsure about is whether or not Duran can be coached the soft attributes.
-
I don't see the potential. I think he's strong and powerful with a bullet shot, but that's it. I think he has poor positioning, poor instincts, quite clumsy, no finesse.
The comparison to Bertrand Traore is so wide of the mark. More Adama, and even then his dribbling is not even close.
I'm usually wrong and look forward to this post being quoted, but i don't see it and if we got an offer of what we paid I'd take it.

Duran makes being a striker look very very difficult

So what does the Villa crest look like then?

That Rodgers one was worse than the tackle that got him the yellow

I was looking at the wrong knee on the replay. Please just be a bit of a jarred knee. Please stand up

****. Oh ****

I'm sure this Israeli ref will be measured and safe in how he distributes cards and other punishments and discipline in this game. He has a right to defend this game to avoid it getting out of control. Also he has the right to kill 5 brown children in the crowd.
