His body isn’t capable of doing what Buendia does

Technically, Buendia's body isn't capable of doing what Buendia did right now. 😞  But I get the point, I think that the modern game has moved on a little and athleticism is more at a premium than when Coutinho was at Liverpool.

Yep - and that's the interesting thing - I mean, we've had one of the worlds foremost agencies work through it, support through innumerable focus and consultation groups and then a public survey with over 20,000 votes - all discarded for one man feeling strongly about it.

I hope he's right in tearing things down and starting again, it kind of puts him in the position that he was in when he arrived at the 76'ers - the 76'ers were broke so he fixed them - but it feels like he's deliberately broken us so that he can get back into the position that he's used to working in. He's like the worlds best firefighter, setting fire to a house so he can show you how good he is.

He's going to have to come up with a hell of a badge to make this mess worth it.

The new badge isn't great so in my opinion, it is worth the time to come up with a proper vision for branding the club going forward.  The only thing you can say about the new badge is it's better than the old one.  Both disappear on the photo which is the exact opposite of what a badge is meant to do!

Why has not journalist written about this. As in the reasons he wasn't offered a new deal, or was one offered but on reduced terms and he was going to have less game time due to summer signings? So he chose to go to play more at another club

Would be good to know what was the reasoning

I'm guessing because they don't know anything!  I hadn't heard a single media voice saying Ashley Young should be released, in fact quite the contrary.

Sorry, I wasn't disputing what you heard, I was just saying Preece is either just talking bollocks or someone is winding him us. They will never ever ever build a monorail from Villa Park to Aston Station.  For a start off the monorail he talks about at Birmingham Airport isn't even a monorail, hasn't been for decades.

It's far to short a distance to build a people mover, it would be quicker to just walk there than wait for thousands of others to hop on the rammed carriages.  They work for thousands of people moving over a number of hours but not thousands of people all turning up at the same time wanting a ride.

And way too coatly to build something that expensive and complex that's only used 25 odd times a year.  It's madness, would never work.

Strangely, I was at the Villa Park tour with Ashley Preece and I heard it too from the tour guide.  The monorail was to go above the canal from Birmingham Airport if my memory serves but it was said as something that could happen at some point in the distant future.

  5. How did Coutinho play 90? Why didn't Gerrard bring subs on earlier?  It seems like we shoe-horned Buendia in for a well-deserved start.  And the ref was quite frankly rubbish.  The Mings' yellow card wasn't actually a foul at all and kinda set the tone.  Martinez probably should have saved the goal but he was wrong-footed.

You need to take those Claret & Blue tinted glasses off. Dean Smith and the players decided the day

I actually don't disagree, I think we would have still lost, but let's see it 11 vs. 11.  I'm just frustrated that 2 weeks in a row, it's been questionable VAR decisions.  I like to think that whatever game I was watching, I'd find the decisions questionable.

Why, how fast did you use to do the 80 miles between Birmingham and Manchester?

Fastest I did was 1 hour 5 minutes from memory, house to house.  There's more speed cameras now but there's also the M6 Toll which couldn't be much closer to Bodymoor Heath.  If Axel lives in Cheshire like a fair few footballers, the commute might be quite acceptable for him.  Fours hours in a car daily sounded high to me but, whatever it is, he must feel comfortable with the situation.  I didn't disagree with the general gist of your original post though, it does seem a slightly surprising move to move to be a back-up.

But if we’re going down this route, why pay Man Utd a (sizeable) loan fee for 2 matches cover?

Also why do people assume that the only people who have a say in all of this are the clubs?  The biggest single deciding factor in this is the player.

Why on earth would he come here to be fourth choice centre back? It would be better for him to play a season in the championship than 2 games for us. Or he might as well sit where he is, and train with his friends, and go home to his home than come to villa and be ‘fourth choice’ and commute 3 to 4 hours a day or stay in a hotel.

The ‘loan’ for Baston was a totally pointless shit thing that served no purpose.  Literally would have been better to play a youth player or no striker. Not a good example to quote.

Traffic must have gotten really bad since I lived in Manchester.

To be fair I think West Ham are a more attractive proposition than villa at this moment in time. Their squad is a lot better than their position suggests and they’ll probably be alright.

They're an absolute mess from top to bottom.

The manager of my Thursday night football team is a West Ham fan and he way not optimistic to say the least.  He said Sullivan and Gold are 90s owners, that Gold fancies himself as a DoF and that he can spot a player and that too many of their players are there for a final pay cheque and go missing in games.  It did sound like a summary of our final seasons before relegation.
