I love it! and to think 18 months ago we were talking about whether to sign Erik Bakke permanently!
painfully true
-
its the same reason why players like Martins and Owen have gone to Newcastle... they think they can just walk into the club and make it a top 4 side. Big Sam is the new manager... big fan base... and always said to be a BIG club. I THINK villa will finish above the toons again next season - but this wont stop big names going to the toons.
i would tend to agree with that
-
there is absolutely no subtance in this, no suggestion that we really are interested. I think it is the press putting 2 and 2 together.
Also, i don't like Reo-Coker's attitude. He doesn't seem to care, he complains almost constantly and he is always being booked. I hope we don't sign him. If he costs £8m i will scream.
-
i can't see why spurs would want him when they have got malbranque, lennon, ghaly, tainio, murphy, zakora jenas etc
-
Gordon £10M, NRC £8M, Bellamy £8-10M Matty Taylor £5-6M, Jagielka £5M
May well have to fork out more
My Maths that's adds up to about £39M
for such a huge investment the team just wouldnt look a lot stonger
-
i can't really see what NRC woud bring to the team
-
aarrrggh it pisses me off that people are so impatient! It is hard to believe that reading through this people are already moaning about not signing anyone.
-
Sheriff, you've got to realise there will always be a 'problem' with some football fans unless we're signing Ramos, Cannavaro etc. You can bet that if we would have signed sidwell rather than chelsea, people would be questioning if he is good enough because he isn't world class
-
we're deffinately signing Kaka? Spread the word!!! Be very dissapoointed if it doesn't happen by tomorrow
-
Portsmouth football club perform physical excercise to prepare them for there occupational activities within the boundries of an educational domain, most likely the grass topped area which is used for recreational activities
-
seconded amo i think Torres is over-rated. He just wastes oppertunities and falls over a lot. HE only scores that many per season (which isn't may) because they always hoof the ball to him
-
Maybe his Mrs hates him traveling to Pompy every day and wants him to move to a closer club. Its happened in the past.
Maybe when they moved to Portsmouth they thought it was near Oxford. Remind you of anyone?
-
Jez's comment coupled with the fact that he is Pompey through and through AND they are on the up suggests that he is not too desperate to leave.
-
don't want to ruin the party but you do realise we are basing this entirely on the word of a journalist?
-
i wasn't bothered when we paid £8m for Young because he is still very young, i had been watching him last season and he was awesome and i know he will be worth the money.
If we spend £8m on Taylor i would be angry as he is not worth anywhere that much and it would be a blatent waste of money. Pompey would be laughing. It was bad enough paying £6.5m for Petrov
-
How much would people think was a fair price?
Its SO hard to judge these days tbh. Young cost £8m which altough i think he is brilliant, is not a fair price. Petrov cost £6.5m which is daylight robbery. Carew cost 1 Milan Baros which is the bargain of a lifetime.
I would say £5m would be fair but you just never know any more. COuld be £3m, could be £10m

I think Taylor is good and i would be pleased if he joined villa. I disagree witht he previous comments because we DO need another left back. After Bouma, we have nobody and if we are going to challenge we will need depth and competition. It cant jsut be "Bouma's good enough, we don't need another LB" because after Bouma there is only Barry and it hurts the team when he isn't in left midfield
Signing Taylor wouldn't affect our other signings because we have money to play with. He is just one of the few positions that will be strengthened
-
Personally i think Bellamy has the ability to be one of the best strikers in the prem. He proved that when he was at blackburn. He just doesn't seem motivated at LIverpool and whether or not that is to do with a dislike of Benitez i don't know. What i do know is Martin O'Neill knows how to motivate Bellamy, and therefore i think he would be an awesome signing who will get us 15 goals a season.
It can be argued that Bellamy has an attitude problem but MON can tame him, the same way he tamed berger

Just ask Defoe. He's been in Brum for so long that he hears all the goings on
-
I find it absolutely unbelievable that people are moaning about signings we haven't even made and complaining about the lack of transfer activity even though THE TRANSFER WINDON HAS NOT OFFICIALLY OPENED!!! there is about 4 clubs that have made signings yet people are already complaining that we haven't made any 'big signings'
For christ sake nothing much is gonna happen until July anyway because a lot of clubs need to sort out contracts before they think of selling or buying amongst other reasons that i'm not going into. Honestly...Villa fans....
-
Who says we can't outbid Valencia?
Agreed. We are after all, an English team
-
We should not be aiming for Naismith's quality. Granted he is a decent player, no disprespect to him but he is not going to take us forward. What we need is a QAULITY and PROVEN striker who we KNOW will get us goals in the Premier League.
I'm talking about Defoe, Bent, Ashton, Owen, Van Nistelrooy, Drogba, Henry...
-
If we signed Buffon, Sneijder, Defoe and err, Naysmith, i would be pissing myself with excitement
Incidently, i don't think Sorensen needs replacing
-
Defo is too small to play in goal surely!

btw in regards to some of the harsh words for mccann, i think it is out of order also. He has been a loyal servant for the club, and granted that he maybe isn't good enough i think some of the criticism is unduely harsh.
