  1. Me three.

One of the things I like about Vass is that he's our only striker that likes to work the flanks as well. Angel, Phillips and even Moore are all much more about getting chances in the box. He's not the most natural finisher, but he does a lot more work than the other strikers. I'd like him to stay and get Baros, as Vassell just gives options that the others don't.

  2. Get yourself a Vectrex from gamestation. They're about £140-180 sepending on condition.

Then tell me "Minestorm" isn't the best version of Asteroids ever.

Bloody hell there's a blast from the past! I used to have a Vectrex, absolutely loved the asteroids game. £140 seems a bit steep for one though!

  3. I predict anybody "looking forward" to the new Star Wars film is going to feel mightily let down, again! For the third time running!

If the first two are anything to go on, it's going to be a pile of gibbon poo. They REALLY shouldn't have bothered, the first three (ie episode 4, 5 and 6, actually that pisses me off wondering what to call them all, I mean, who actually makes the last three films first, then plays catch up? Duh!) were great films, now tainted by the travesties that are the newest ones.

  4. It's a hard one this, big Ron did very well, back when the Prem was a bit more of a level playing field. After our 2-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday, I was fully convinced that we were going to be champions. I think he just shades it over Sir Brian, as some of the football we played under Ron was truly outstanding.

Sir Brian is a very, very close second though.

  5. I bet you're a fun bloke to have at a dinner party Rev! "I don't believe in the artificial categorisation of music, actually!"

Anyway I voted for the 90's. Too young to really remember the 70's, and I grew up in the 80's so that was a close second (particulalrly as it's the decade of The Smiths) But for just the sheer amount of brilliant albums you just can't beat the 90's, and that's the deacde I was at uni too, and really started to see a lot of live music.

  6. What happened to Wispas? Did they just stop making them, or have they been rebranded as Cadbury's something or other along with everything else? Was it the crapness of the Mel Smith and Griff rhys Jones adverts that made everybody stop eating them?

  7. And as for the drummer in the Housemartins (Hugh Whittaker) I met him a few times and a nicer more down to earth bloke you couldn't hope to meet. He was roundly ripped off by a business associate, so he responded in the only possible way: tried to burn down the bloke's house and do him in with an axe! Could have happened to any of us!

  8. Don't anybody slag off the Railway Children if you don't mind! Certainly they don't deserve mentioning in the same breath as the lamentable Northside!

And as for the Housemartins in my opinion one of the great bands of the eighties. Bitter, acerbic lyrics wrapped up in great pop tunes, and absolutely superb live. London 0, Hull 4 is still an album that I listen to regularly.

  9. I think my favourite Smiths track is Ask. "Spending warm summer days indoors, writing frightening verse, to a buck toothed girl in Luxembourg"

I really can't think of a band as consistently brilliant as The Smiths, or one who mean as much to me. Although at the time I was almost as big a fan of The Housemartins.
