Two keepers and only 8 subs? I mean it’s not a big deal but surely worth chucking a youth player in to make up the 9?

Also, best hope we don’t get an injury in midfield cos we don’t have a single midfielder on the bench.

    What's the story with that?

  2. Whether we as fans want him to leave or not really doesn't matter.  Negative comments about him from the manager, and noises directly from him about winning things suggest he'll be playing elsewhere next season.

I fint it a bit odd that we've spent £40m upgrading from Targett, to Digne, to Moreno, for what look like marginal gains, while there are much more pressing concerns all over the pitch.

    I'd argue we've regressed tbh

  4. Gks: Martinez, Olsen

Olsen is not good enough.  Maybe Sinisalo or Marschal will get a chance?

    Lbs: Moreno, Digne

I don't think Digne fits in here, and will likely get moved on but generally happy.

    Rbs: Cash, Young, KKH

Cash looks out of favor and I never really rated him, Young, player of season for me so far but age is against him, KKH hopefully can get some game time.  Happy

Cbs: Ming's, Konsa, Carlos, Chambers, Hause

I don't think any of these, except Carlos, is technically good enough for our system.  Konsa isn't good in the air and lacks strength, Ming's has an awful habit of making big mistakes and his passing often let's him down.  Chambers and Hause just aren't good enough.  Not seen enough of Carlos to judge, and after a bad injury will he be the same player?  Lots of work needed here.

    Dm: Kamara, Dendoncker

Others could slot in, but I think we can do better than Donc.  Hopefully Tim can step up next season.

    Cm: Luiz, Ramsey, McGinn

Again, I think we can improve here.  I'm not convinced by JJ, and I think McGinn is a fading force.  Luiz the only one I'd keep, and probably as a squad player rather than starter

    Am/Wm: Bailey, Traore, Buendia, Coutinho

I think we can work with Bailey and Traore for now, but Emi and Court just have not worked.  Need better.

    St: Watkins, Duran

I don't think Watkins is good enough, and not seen anything on Duran.  Need better.

    Overall, lots to do still

Early on in the season when it looked like Gerrard was taking us down, this would have been viewed as success.

Emery has worked wonders, but let's not forget he's cleaning up Gerrard's mess whilst building his own squad.

That takes more than one window.

I'm not bemoaning it, I'm happy with 11-14 given the way the season started.

That doesn't eliminate the disappointment of failing to bring in a little more quality that could have seen us competing for 7-10.

Summer will be more important as a result, and needs to be both a big one in terms of outlay and quality.

I'm not comparing him with JJ, someone else did.

There is 2 ways of looking at foul stats, and some can be unlucky decisions......shows commitment.

Stats are useful, but don't always tell you what you see, watching games.....Its also widely accepted getting called up for England, is a decent endorsement....when you think it took Jack some doing.

I would suspect, that many fans would welcome a Gallagher signing, just not at the expense of Guendouzi.

I can't disagree more. 40+m on someone to sit on the bench?  There'd be war!

  7. Pretty uninspiring window all in all.

Some good cleanup work done in terms of getting deadwood out, but disappointing incomings.

Not making a couple of key signings means we likely stay in the 14-11 bracket this season rather than pushing top half.

People will highlight how little the outgoing players played - 9% or some such including Ings, but do the same analysis with Goals rather than minutes and it's a much bigger number.

Not when you play for a 'flavor' club.  Plenty of guys have played for England that never deserved it, but got it because they played for a 'top club'.

Similarly, plenty of players have played brilliantly at 'unfashionable' clubs and not been called up.  JJ deserved a call up far more than Gallagher did, but Southgate has a bee in his bonnet about Villa.

    Hyperbole.

Even looking at Gallagher's Crystal Palace stays, JJs numbers are 15-20% better in those areas, Gallagher also conceded a lot more fouls and 3 more yellow cards.

The stats just don't back up what you're saying I'm afraid.
