Villa 5 Liverpool 1 in 1976 was my best first half. Best game too many to pick just one other than the 82 final for its importance. I would also offer the 1970 LCSF Villa 2 Manchester United 1, the 1977 LCSF (R) Villa 3 QPR 0, the 1977 LCF (R2) Villa 3 Everton 2, the 1994 LCF Villa 3 Manchester United 1, the FA Cup SF Villa 2 Liverpool 1, D1 1980 Villa 3 Small Heath 0, D1 1981 Villa 2 Liverpool 0 & D3 1972 Villa 2 Bournemouth 1 from what would be my long list.

Villa 5 Liverpool 1 in 1976, don't forget Sir Dennis Mortimer also hit the crossbar twice in this match, amazing the footage from it was destroyed, probably by some sad scouse bin dipper

Don't know why, but I'm worried about this. Just a bad feeling his recovery is going to drag on. I hope it doesn't reduce his physical capability in the long term.

Don't forget what happened to Amavi after injury.

So Amavi was going to play central midfield? And please, this name calling is really unnecessary.

Amavi was never going to play central midfield obviously, but he was due to play, and if the name fits, its perfectly necessary.

Just why did he start on Saturday if he's not part of our plans.

Don't get me wrong I will be delighted if he goes but I was completely baffled that he started on Saturday when he seemed part of the set up. This makes it frankly bizarre.

I heard Amavi was originally due to play against Hull but was pulled out late on hence the idiot getting a game

Not good, but not cack. Just bang average and seeing as he's one of our most hated players it's for the best that he moves on. Good luck to him.

I hope he has no luck at all, has annoyed me every time I have seen him at VP, the day can`t come soon enough when he finally goes

  6. Jordan Amavi finally looks set to depart Villa

The Frenchman could be set to depart at the second time of asking

Jordan Amavi looks to be the latest Villan to depart, with reports indicating that he is set to join Marseille.

According to French publication BFM TV, the leftback has agreed to a four year deal with the French club.

Translated from French, the report indicates that Amavi will depart on an initial €2m loan deal, with an automatic option to buy next summer for €8m.

Just weeks ago, Amavi was set to sign for Spanish side Sevilla, before a controversial failed medical saw the move fall apart, much to the displeasure of Villa’s owner.

The amount would recoup a large percentage of the £9m fee that Villa paid for his services in the summer of 2015. In addition, it allows Amavi a return to a familiar league, whilst clearing some room in the Villa squad, so that Steve Bruce can stop saying the phrase “box clever” for a few more minutes.

The 23-year-old began his career with Nice but found neither consistency in play nor confidence from Steve Bruce to match his talent through 44 appearances in the claret and blue. Selling him below his purchased value represents another misstep in player development at Villa Park and ends another chapter of the ill fated 2015/16 summer transfer window

AN Aston Villa footballer has been banned from driving after he was found guilty of two driving offences.

Left-back Jordan Amavi, 23, failed to give police information relating to the identification of a driver on February 23.

West Midlands Police believed the driver of a grey Audi committed an offence and Amavi did not disclose important information to them.

Amavi, of Sutton Coldfield, was found guilty of two counts of failing to give police information relating to the identification of a driver.

Villa v Hull: Important information if you don’t receive your season card

Villa v Hull: Important information if you don’t receive your season card

If you’re yet to receive your season card, don’t worry, they are on the way to you right now!

However, if you don’t receive your season card in time for our opener against Hull City, we have plans in place.

If you haven’t received your season card by the time you check your post on Saturday, first off, we apologise for the inconvenience this causes for you.

You won’t have to miss the game – just head to Villa Park to pick up paper tickets on this one-off occasion.

We have three dedicated windows for these season ticket reprints – they will be clearly signed and open from 9am.

There will be a separate queue management system and it will be manned by experienced staff.

Our Fan Squad will be walking up and down the queue to answer any of your queries as you wait.

Just remember to have your Fan ID ready for when you reach the window!

You’ll then receive a paper ticket and you’re ready to watch the boys in claret and blue against the Tigers.

Our advice is to arrive well of advance of 4pm to pick up your replacement tickets to avoid congestion.

You'll be wanting the sports argus back next:P

I'd quite like a season ticket card to be fair!

Last time they gave me a fixture card it was so small I needed a microscope to find out who we were playing

Steve Bruce fears Jack Grealish could be out until Christmas as the full extent of the Aston Villa playmaker’s freak injury emerges.

Grealish suffered a serious kidney injury after landing on top of Tom Cleverley during Saturday's friendly against Watford and required surgery to rectify the problem.

The 21-year-old is still recovering in hospital with no discharge date yet decided and Bruce sounded a bleak prognosis having visited his player on Monday.

Grealish’s father Kevin said his son would be out for at least two to three months in a Facebook post but the Villa manager is not optimistic due to the nature of the injury.

‘It could be much longer,’ said Bruce. ‘He's poorly at the minute. I went to see him in hospital. Things aren’t great. We hope that he has a speedy recovery, of course.’

If they've sent mine by special delivery there won't be anyone to sign and I won't be able to get to the town where the sorting office is until next week.

I really hope that's not the case. There's no value in the card itself and no reason to waste money on special delivery.

Sorry my mistake not special delivery where you sign for it, our postman had already been round this morning and not delivered it, then  a couple of hours later it was delivered by a postman in a van

been a long time since we had 2 deliveries in a day
