Welcome Ron! My shit life has now been slightly improved. :winkold:
-
Saw it last night and have to say I was a bit disappointed. As someone mentioned earlier, the bar was set real high after The Dark Knight.
I'm not saying it was bad, but I was expecting a 9/10 and it was more like a 7 for me.
Lots of things I loved about it, but plenty I wasn't keen on.
Would still recommend it but it wasn't the classic I'd hoped for.
-
Only 2.5m ? And Vlaar costs 3.2m ? With ur sell to buy we obviously need to sell someone else to raise the 700k. ;-)
Please let it be Warncok and Hutton.
But how will we raise the rest?

-
I know he'll sign, but why can't we just announce it now?
Yeah. I hate waiting.
Why does it seem that all the other clubs get these kinds of things sorted so much faster than us?
They probably don't, of course, and their fans probably all say the same thing.
Hurry up though, villa.
-
He did well for us at times and I just hope Vlaar turns out to be the improvement we all hope he will be.
Good luck James.
-
3m for a dutch international could be an absolute steal
Agree.
To get him and KEA for small fees could be a masterstroke.
We seem to be getting good value with all our deals so far. Which makes the links to Fletcher and Carroll seem pretty unlikely.
-
Money coming in for Carroll to Villa today. 16/1 into 4/1
Doesn't mean a lot really does it?
I don't think we're in for him, and even if we were I don't think he'd come. It sounds like it's a return to the barcodes or he's staying at Anfield.
I want us to bring in a new striker but not Carroll for that kind of money. No way.

we're dragging this one out a bit. Looking like thursday.James Nursey @JamesNursey
Ron Vlaar having #AVFC medical part 2 today. Expect official confirmation Thursday when James Collins' exit to #WHUFC to be rubber stamped
Medical part 2? That's not normal is it?
Maybe they are a bit concerned about his previous injuries after all.
As far as I'm aware it's normal procedure to have it 2 parts, one part for fitness checks and the other for the more intricate stuff such as scans. I'm sure every club does their medicals different.
It could just be that I'm a bit restless to see this one tied up, but I can't remember medicals taking that long in the past.
I'm often wrong about this sort of thing though!
-
As others have said, wouldn't mind him here. Decent player, but not at that price. £6m tops for me.

The best centre back we have at the club at the moment.
Mind you, that doesn't say much about the others.
Thats like pointing out the best turd in the toilet, doesn`t mean you take it out and make a sandwhich. Go and buy some jam for christ sake.
Do kind of agree. He's not a bad player but I'll be happy if this all fits into Lambert's plans.

Would you guys be happy with this come Aug 18th??

Maybe the bench could do with strengthening tbh.... but a good side imo
Where's Holman?
Lot of unknowns in there. But would be exciting to see how it fared.
-
There are plenty of good strikers around the world who would be gettable for half of what Carroll would cost us. Don't ask me to name names but that's what we pay our scouts for isn't it?
-
west ham's bid for Carroll is believed to be a £2m loan fee then £16m permanent deal if they stay up.
If we are indeed owed £8m from the Downing deal then perhaps a £10m offer could tempt the bin dippers. I think that's a decent price. I wouldn't pay much more than that though.
Not sure why people seem to think this money that Liverpool owe us is like a bonus. It's not. It's our money that we could and should be spending elsewhere.
In that scenario we are still paying £18m for a player who may or may not be a success for us.
I don't think we're trying to bring him, certainly not for that kind of money.
-
Kendrick says no enquiry made.
Not surprised really.
Don't think we had the money to buy him or pay his wages. Even if we did have I think he'd have gone somewhere else
-
Talk of Andy Carroll here: http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/football/905404-aston-villa-start-talks-with-liverpool-over-cut-price-andy-carroll-transfer?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter
Doubt we have the funds, but if so....
Doesn't make sense to me. Surely we don't have £20m for a striker? If we do we should be spending it on someone else.
-
Shall we get back on topic?
Personally I think Hutton gets far more stick than he deserves.
I won't be sad to see him go, there's no doubt he's had quite a few shockers for us, but saying he's the worst player ever is well OTT.
-
The worst player I've seen at vp in 14 years of attenting games.
Alpay for me.
???
Alpay was an excellent player for us!
-
Also what happens if he comes here on loan?
Plays crap - waste of wages
Plays well - Liverpool want to keep him / ask for massive fee we can't afford, back to square one.
-
Don't fancy Carroll here myself. The less of a temptation there is to hoof the ball up the pitch the better in my opinion.
If we are getting another striker in I'd like someone who can play more as a number 10 besides/behind Bent. A young version of Robbie Keane would be ideal.
-
Scouting out young talent from the lower leagues
What a refreshing change
Isn't it?
Slight risk.
He might take time to settle in the prem. He may not even be up to it.
But this is the way you move a club forwards, not spending big fees on average players.
-
Fantastic that he came down to training today. Very emotional vid of them singing happy birthday to him.
-
Happy with this. Still not convinced he's got what it takes to be our number 1, but he's a very good back up to have.

He seems really passionate and ambitious. And he's already trying to build a relationship with the fans.
I like what I see so far.
Let's hope he does the business on the pitch too.
