  1. Would be a gamble. He's at a good age, has ability and plenty of experience of the league. If we can sort out his attitude and give him a run of games maybe he could finally fulfill his potential?

If he's coming in on a relatively short deal (2-3 yrs rather than 4-5) and isn't on silly money it could be a good move.

I know he's not ideal but if he can fill the gap until Kozak and Benteke come back then he will be worth it.

If anyone can suggest a better option that would come to us and costs nothing I'd like to hear it.

  2. Some of those goals show some ridiculous technique! Good feet for a big man etc etc.

Love how I'd never heard of this bloke and now I'm really excited at the prospect of him coming!

    Bent out, this chap in?

  3. I've thought about this a little bit and maybe we should let him go. If we get an offer of something close to £30m, we should take it.

If he stays, he could have another great season. But I doubt we'd be able to sell him for much more than that price. There is every chance, however, that he won't be as prolific next season. He could hit a loss of form or pick up injuries, and if that happens his value would go down.

We are trying to rebuild the team at the moment and having an extra £30m in the kitty would help enormously  Lambert could pick up some more cheap gems but also a few highly rated, experienced players, who could really strengthen the side.

I love Benteke, he's been great. And if he stays it would be brilliant to see if he can do the business again. But it would have to be viewed as a bit of a risk, and maybe I'd be happier with the money.

  4. Its clearly between us and Wigan for the final spot, nobody above will be dragged in.

The problem is Wigan do this year in year out and have the experience.

I'm dreading that final game of the season winner takes all i reckon.

I think Southampton could be in trouble. They are only 3 points ahead of us and Wigan.

Really not starting to like the look of that last game either. If it's all hinging on that game I don't fancy our chances.

  5. if we can keep both andi and benteke (we need a nick name for him) for next season whilst we are down, we will be back up in 1 season no problem

No chance we'd keep Benteke if we go down. He kicked up a fuss to make sure he got a move to us because he wanted to play in the Prem. He will do the same in the summer if we go down.

  6. As I said before he was appointed should be given time even if relegated.

Villa needs continuity for a little bit howerver hard it may be.

So many people said give him time, but only if he's doing okay? That's not giving someone time, it's having the balls to have some patience, as their will be extremes of good and bad. Giving someone time is longer than 6 months!

Sack him and get in who, what if they don't get us going, sack them too and then the next one?

This is exactly my feelings. Lambert has been blasted for getting things wrong tactically and I can't argue with that, but the longer we keep him the more he'll learn what his players are/aren't capable of doing. He will find the best formation in time. He will find the best players to play in each position in time. But he needs to make mistakes along the way.

Bringing in a new manager would be going back to square 1.

  7. What a strange pair of signings. We desperately needed some experience to add to out squad. Sylla and Dawkins might be good players, and I'm not trying to write them off, but this is a hell of a risk. With the club staring relegation in the face we're taking a chance on a pair of youngsters who need to take a very big step up if they're to perform in the Prem.

It's better than signing nobody, which is something I was concerned about a day or 2 ago. But only just.

  8. Whoever we sign now will have to be prepared to stay with us in the Championship next year, or there's no point.

Someone like Dale Stephens perhaps, but I wouldn't expect us to be signing any established Premier League players.

We can definitely sign established players. But only if the wages are high enough and we put a clause in their contract that they can leave when we get relegated.

  9. If we were to go down I think the following players would leave-

    Given

    Hutton

    Warnock (contract up)

    Dunne (contract up)

    Ireland

    Holman

    N Zogbia

    Bent

    Benteke

Agree with that apart from Holman. Don't think he's on a massive wage, don't think he'd be desperate to leave and think he'd be a decent player in the Championship.

  10. Con's premierleague dream team

    ----------------Bannan---------------

    Bannan----------------------Bannan

    ----------Bannan---Bannan----------

    ----------------Bannan----------------

    Bannan-Bannan-Bannan-Bannan

    ----------------Bannan-----------------

    He is that good

The thought of wee Barry Bannan playing in goal just made me very happy.

  11. Bit disappointed he felt the need to speak out. It must have been a bit of a bad couple of weeks, to lose the captaincy and then his starting place. But he should have kept his mouth shut. The goal he scored has probably got him back in the team anyway.
