Lukaku was effectively neutralised. I was impressed by that. I think he was the wild card in the Chelsea deck, and they played him to no great effect.

I posted midway through the match that it didn't seem as if Chelsea quite knew how to handle us, and I still believe that. They won on a wing, a prayer, and two reprehensible ref decisions.

We go forward from here knowing we can beat any club in the league. I still hope we can sign a strong mid-fielder -- a Fellaini junior or someone like that -- but it's not essential.

To be honest I don't think it is that easy to plan for losing Lukaku. It's not like they sold him for 20m and wasted the proceeds.

Fair enough. His club record in Holland (or was it in Belgium?) -- if I'm remembering right -- was spectacular before he signed at Chelsea. It was a coup to get him on loan. Right man, right place, right time for both Luka and WBA. Hard to repeat that magically out of the hat.

I agree with some of what you say here. I believe Bush and Cheney "legally" murdered thousands of Iraqi and Afghan citizens. I still can't believe my fellow Americans elected them. Yes, there's often a huge difference between legal and moral -- except when there's not.
