  1. Well, I can safely say now that they will be losing a customer this year if it is Hollywood Bob.

You wouldn't be the only fan who don't go to VP so it wouldn't be that much of a biggie.

I think it would be most certainly, as the appointment of Bradley as manager will turn a lot of people away from going to home games.

I'm sure i wouldn't be the only one delighted that they'd **** off.

  2. Mr Lerner's off to Europe this morning.

That's quite a big place, can you be a bit more specific? :winkold:

    On his way to Milan

Make of it what you will.

I'm not doubting you thetrees, but how do you know Randy is in Milan??

He's able to track the movements of Randy's jet (cause he works at the airport I think). Doesn't mean Randy's IN the jet but it's pretty likely.

  3. If we take money out of the equation I think it's fair to say that James Milner knows as well as we all do that he hasn't got a chance in hell of winning the Premier League with Aston Villa but if he goes to Man City it's probably just a matter of time.

Sure he might want lots and lots of money (and since he already has lots and lots of money that's just greed) but he's going for football reasons too.

  4. I'm starting to believe that we will either get the 30m we are asking for or Milly will be a Villa player next season. I just don't see us shifting on the price of this one.

Eventually Man City will resign themselves to that fact that this is the case and they'll pay up. Most probably in the last few days of August.

Which could leave us somewhat shafted?

I think MON perhaps has to impose a deadline for this either way. A yay or nay at MON's price by the end of next week, or all negotiatrions are off for good, and we move on.

To string this out up to deadline day will not do Villa any good at all.

Or Randy knows (like everyone else knows) that Milner will bugger off at the end of August so he coughs up some transfer money on the basis that he'll get it back when Milner goes.

  6. My worry is - even with the milner money, we are going to struggle to compete with the top 4/5 teams.

We just cant attract the players.

While I accept that this is likely the case, i'd love to know if we've ever actually bothered to sign that kind of player in the last 4 years or just not tried, assuming they wouldnt be interested

Theres no harm in trying, as they say

I suspect he had a go at getting Sneijder last year (that was my take on it anyway).

  7. .... But again it’s based on no more facts than the earlier articles!

I doubt even the clubs know what is going to happen, definitely not from our side anyway.

I doubt if there's any evidence at all that Man City (or anybody else) have ever even considered buying him.

Man City actually did bid for him, it was formally announced by Villa after they turned it down....

Of course yes. I forgot that.

  8. .... But again it’s based on no more facts than the earlier articles!

That's about the only factual thing I've read on the subject.

Nobody knows anything. Even Villa's £30m asking price is just a mickey mouse number made up by somebody and taken as gospel. I doubt if there's any evidence at all that Man City (or anybody else) have ever even considered buying him.

The only actual FACTS anybody knows is what James Milner said before the World Cup. ie: He thinks it's nice to be linked with other clubs but he's not prepared to talk about it.

    Such a killjoy ain't i :)

  9. I would lose a great deal of respect for Milner if he handed in a transfer request. Maybe I'm living in delusion about Milner's loyalty to the club; I always thought of Milner as a committed man and respectful to his current employers.

If this becomes reality then it would reignite the fact that footballers are generally selfish and disloyal to the supporters and the clubs themselves. I thought Milner was of a different mentality, and I hope he is still committed to us and this is all fantasy talk.

He wants to win things and would presumably want to be at the most likely club to do that (ala Dwight Yorke). Nowt wrong with that if you ask me.

It's when players move just because they can add more millions to the millions they already have that I get pissed off (ala Barry).

  10. shouldnt sell him, dont matter what money we get,we cannot attract top top players to replace him, really have to stay strong and not be bullied into selling our best players cos we will never improve as a team this way

tottenham improved when they sold there best players. The problem is with our manager. He wont be able to find the players to push us to the next level.

Effectively you're saying that MON (the man who bought James Milner) is totally incapable of buying a player like James Milner. Think before you type!

  11. I know hes not a Villa fan, but if James Milner, the most professional footballer known to us, is prepared to jump shit to Man City for the sake of money then football really has become the preserve of the mercenary.

Milner is one of the last few individuals who i have faith in as a footballer. If he lets us down, then that will kill football that little bit more for me.

how will he be letting us down?, his loyalty is to himself and to money, next season he will be where-ever the best deal for james milner is, if that is away from villa then so be it, he is a self employed professional footballer, and will always chase the best contract, its not letting anyone down, its just the way it is

How would he be letting us down?

Do you not think that he owes us more than 1 good season since we payed over the odds to resurrect his career, helping him to become one of Englands most established players?

    Personally, I think he does.

Ok so at your work, a company has recruited you, paying you a bit more than you should be getting, then 1 year/18months later, a big competitor of theirs comes along and says - here's an extra 30k a week to come here and do exactly the same job? You would snap their hand off.

I dont see why footballers are any different. We live in a world revolved by money, and if you want to improve your life and get paid more for your career....

    100% agree!!

Think some people honestly believe that James Milner will be worrying about who he upsets if he accepts a wage packet thats doubles what he already earns.

He probably would think the same as me if I got offered a similar increase

    Q. What about the customers where you work now?

    A. Errrm, yeah, deep down, I couldnt give a shite about them tbh. Ive got my own problems, bills etc

He wants to win things - he doesn't want to add yet more millions to the millions he's already getting. He's said it many times and, call me naive, but I actually believe him. I'm sure the number one factor in his decision is where he's most likely to win things (unfortunately Villa isn't one of the front runners in that respect).

  12. They are fuckwits for not putting a release clause in Hart's loan agreement.

For that reason alone I'd say no.

A player can't be recalled from within in the same league outside a transfer window i.e January.

Well a player can't be signed outside of a transfer window either. One of those rules is going to change in this instance - it's just a question of which one.

  13. it was a stonewall sending off - however - this thread makes us look bitter - we need to get over this

I think this sums it up.

We know it was a red, Man Utd know it was a red, Villa know it was a red, everyone else knows it was a red, and I daresay on reflection, Dowd knows it was a red.

Let's hope he remembers his cock up and rectifies it in future games.

  14. Getting the train down on the sunday morning from Snow Hill, if we want to get food before game, where is best to go especially with the travel problems, like i know this is kinda social question but im looking for places :P like areas easy to get to

There's a McDonalds near Snow Hill that is (according to their website) open at 5am.

That's where I'm starting my day of drinking copious amounts of alcohol and eating crap.

  15. Paul McGrath for me was one of the best centrebacks i have ever seen. Imagine if we had a fit McGrath now along side Dunne.

We'd probably have the best defensive record in the league!!

    ....oh.... hang on....

    :)
