Yeah I think the striker market will be insane this summer, will be amazed if we don't break our record to the tune of +£10m on one
But again part of why the striker hunt, which is now starting to feel like that CM we needed to buy for about 3 summers running, isn't annoying me that much is because I genuinely don't see an obvious candidate, glad we didn't get dembele
According to Alex Crook (yes I know he's a knob) on talksport. Dembele was being touted out to everybody, but the list of demands from his agent was putting everyone off.

Always a potential problem but at the same time, we are told not to buy the players because we aren’t in Europe so can’t have that level of squad.
Also the level or quality we want are more likely to come if we have Europe…not as much as CL qualification but more likely than having no European football at all.
I think it’s also defeatist thinking it’s better not to have European football and the extra games. Surely let’s get European football and then figure how we cope with it. We have the elite manager who is used to playing in many competitions unlike many of the clubs you are probably thinking of like West Ham, so I trust in him.
This is where I’m at. I can only see positives in qualifying for Europe this season.
It’s not until next year, we can strengthen accordingly in the summer if we do.
It will help attract better players to the club. It will help us keep the players we want at the club when the vultures come circling.
It moves us forward, it helps us sell ‘the project’.

Looking at sky bets transfer odds it’s all players that are really unlikely to move this January like Mbappe.
The most likely looking one is Elanga to Dortmond.
I don’t get why they won’t let me bet on Guendouzi to Villa. Why won’t they take my money damn it!!
Maybe because its already a done deal and they've stopped taking bets on it

We probably just sounded out them plus quite a few other quality players like most professional clubs do, and some say yes like Moreno and Duran, and many say no (because we are trying to get real quality). Sounding out players is just normal football business, the media are just trying to spin it as a real story which it’s not. We and other clubs do it all the time. If all parties eventually agree, a deal is done….there is no real story here. The only thing we can take from this, if true, is we are sounding out quality players and not bang average. I can take good from this…
Yeah, my point was that having sounded them out, why put a bid in if they have told us they're not interested. I'm not sure I believe some of these reports.

Can't believe we don't sound a player out to see if he's interested in coming before we put a bid in.
And, I certainly don't believe we have done it twice now, on Merino and Williams.

You're not the only one.
Same here, hope the club are going for the right one

Reporting on talksport news that the fee is £10m rising to £15m with addons.
Not overly fussed about him going, as long as we have a replacement lined up, but surely should be 15m rising to 20m.

Is there an alternate universe where it could be " Quality Players will now have a second look at playing for Villa due to the likes of World Cup winner Emi Martinez "
No not an alternative universe, this one.
That's why we need to keep players like Emi and JG (I know that was out of our hands).
It's what attracts other top players to your club, the chance to play with other top players. How else are you going to grow as a club if you keep letting your best players leave.
