  1. My all time favourite Villa player, long hair, shirt worn outside the shorts and scoring great goals. I have had honour to have met him a few years ago, a lovely guy and glad that he is still playing an active role at the Villa.

A football career cut short by injuries and outrageous that he never was a regular in the England team.

  2. With my tin hat on...

What would the general consensus be if it were the Villa instead of man 115y having cheated their way to every trophy in the last decade or so?

Would we be all defensive like man 155y fans and deny it all and wallow in the false glory and entitlement?

Just wondering....although I would love us to win stuff, personally I would be a bit uneasy and a tad embarrassed that the success was achieved by fraudulent means...

  3. Was at the new coop arena last Friday which is right next to the "empty had".

I have never been to the "empty had" before, but although it looked impressive from the outside, the thought that kept going through my head is "all of this was built with corruption and funny money".....

....plastic club, plastic stadium, and now it appears they are trying everything to try and continue this advantage they now they  " that they are the victims of “discrimination”, describing rules they say have been approved by their rivals to stifle their success on the pitch as a “tyranny of the majority”.......

obviously the Middle East have never heard of "democracy"

Yes - who wouldn’t kill to be in between 2 groups of people verbally abusing each other all game?

Not me either (well not anymore!), 90 minutes of bottles of piss being lobbed at each other, coins, even darts etc.......oh wait that was the 1970's...............just bottles of piss now I suppose......bloody light weights these kids of today....in my day etc etc etc.......zzzzzzzzz

  5. I wish I had been born on 2nd September 1958 instead of June 21st 1958, as I am not eligible for an over 66 concession this year, got to wait until next year when I will be 67 years old......will be too old to walk up the steps to my seat in the Upper Holte soon...

  6. When do you qualify for concessions?

I am 66 on June 21, 3 days before the ST renewal window shuts - I might have to wait until I am officially 66, or maybe I will just call the ticket office but I will wait a day or so for it all  the rush to die down a bit.

Perhaps I might email them - do they respond to emails?

  7. Set myself some challenges over the last few years.

Read Lord of the Rings .....bored with it but finished it thank God

Read War and Peace.....loved it apart from the odd ending, the story just petered out

Currently reading Game of Thornes series of books, I am on book 3....some parts are good other parts confusing other parts rubbish, but I will keep on to the end to see what all the fuss was about (perhaps the TV version was better but never saw it)

  8. I was at the new coop Arena venue last night, did not realise it was right next to the "empty had".

I have never been to the "empty had" before, but it does look impressive yet rather soulless to be honest. Expansion to one of their stands is already well in progress.

It is very clear that the owners have spent a lot on the stadium, and there is a lot they have got right it pains me to say. However it was much easier for them to build a new stadium on a derelict brownfield site...

One very good idea is what appears to be a safe well lit walk to get to the ground from the main railway station (Picadilly) and the metro/tram system.

Whatever happens to VP I think it needs to retain its "traditional" look to be honest, but we need to look at what other clubs have done. Improvements to transport links for pedestrians and public transportation systems have to be high priority. Traffic is mad after a game at VP.

  9. Off to the new Machester coop arena tomorrow,  (yes the one with all the teething problems) to see The Eagles.

Yes I know some of you "young uns" have never heard of the Eagles, but now I am almost 66 years old they are of my era and apparently this is their final, final, final ever set of UK dates .......until next years tour announcement.

  10. Zaniolo always seemed to promise much and not deliver. I really wanted him to do well for us, but he never seemed to make the right decision or right pass etc. Ended up a frustrating player most of the time to watch to be honest.

But he did contribute and if he is leaving then I wish him well and thanks for helping us achieve the heights we did this season

  11. Grealish was one of those players at Villa that got everyone off their feet when he played for us. A fabulously skillful player. The only way the opposition could stop him was to foul him.

Now he is a bit part player where his brilliance on the pitch for us has now been stifled by the way 115y play.

I am not sure if he has the incentive or inclination to raise his game now if he moved to another club. I think he is a shadow of his former self, now he has all his trinkets with the cheats, he seems more intrested in marketing himself and being the party animal than a desire to play football.

    What a waste of talent

  12. Slightly off topic for Villa season tickets, I have looked at my "local" clubs to me to compare and find that:-

Ipswich 20 000 season tickets sold out unsurprisingly, a max price of around £900 which includes a soft/hot drink, padded seat and a program. The average price for adults is around £500.

Norwich, offer 12 months interest free credit to pay for season ticket and as they have sold out of season tickets you can go on the waiting list but you have to pay £50 for the privilege but this is taken off the price of the ST when you buy it.

In both cases the season ticket window to renew for these clubs opened a few months ago.

25 point deduction for one season and a transfer ban for two windows. The PL will want to make it look like they are punishing them without actually harming them too badly. They might have to work to get a CL place one season or miss out for one season. Of the 115 charges they'll probably only be found guilty of 5 - 10.

I think measures should be in place to prevent them from winning anything for a long time, e.g.  a 60 point deduction reset at the start of each season for 10 years, a transfer ban for 5 years and not allowed to enter any domestic cups for 5 years.

  14. I know there have been some over the top and crazy suggestions of suitable punishment if/when 115y are found guilty of fraud.

So what practical and realistic punishment should they get if/when found guilty?, bearing in mind the punishment has to act as a deterrent to other clubs thinking of doing the same?

For example a transfer ban and no European footy for a season, a 10 point ban and a fine of a million quid is no way near enough of a deterrent in my opinion.

I think they will get away with it ....too much money at stake as well as interference by the UK government and vested interests in the middle east.

Looks good but the hashbrowns and beans look over cooked whilst the bacon might as well be called ham.

The main problem though is with the sausage, it looks like the same twirly shape that comes out of a dogs arse

Less than a mile away from my home -- a site as historically important to my area as statues and monuments. Bonus points if you can work out what it is. A friendly local man -- actually very nice.
