  1. Latest headline on the OS - 'Have we got news for you!' Its about the 100 year anniversary of the programme. Muppets.
  2. I really hope this is true too. But if they know they are out of their league, and they know that Rothchilds think their bids are not up to it, what would they have to gain by going to the media. It's not going to change the minds of the people who matter (the bankers, Ellis). In a roundabout sort of way thats kinda my point. It sounds more and more like a last act of desperation that isn't going to work 'just give us a bit more time, we'll be great honest, we'll involve the fans, i'm sure we'll have sorted a bit of cash out for you by next week, we'll keep your seat in the Trinity reserved for you Doug' etc etc...
  3. IMO any consortium who would allow Ellis to retain any power and/or shares going forward are as welcome at Villa Park as a dose of the clap. AVO6 can **** off if this is an option they would consider. Padfield sounds like a clearing in the woods who has absolutely no knowledge of the club or its fans. And lerner does - give me a break. Ellis may be left with a token holding, who gives a **** if we are competing on a European stage Precisely. I don't really care if Ellis is left with 1-2%. I'm sure he wants to keep the Ellis name in the club for his family or something. I'd rather he didn't, but if he has 1% of shares and we have European football then who wins?
  4. Trouble is they can't win! They keep quiet and we all accuse them of doing nothing and hiding their intentions. They talk to the press and we dismiss them as amateurs and also-rans. Another benefit of Rothchilds concentrating on the Still and Lerner bids is that the general feeling is that they both want O'Neill. So if it was definitely going to be either/or then there's nothing stopping them appointing him on an interim contract to be renegotiated on completion of the takeover.
  5. Well, exactly, which rather gives credence to the theory that this group are suddenly making alot of noise becasue they just realised they arent in the same league as lerner and Still (and mystery other). First there was this promise of player cash this morning, then this long interview tonight. if this goes the same as last week, I would say that what this interview tells me, above anything else, is that one of the real players is about to make a real move We will see, but personally this interview rather confirms my view that things are actually moving swiftly to a conclusion, just without Padfield or neville on board, and unsurprisingly they arent happy The more I think about it the more I'm inclined to agree with this version of events. I was feeling pretty negative about things listening to the interview but once you begin to put the bits and pieces together to get to this potential version of events it seems to be quite convincing. Whether thats because I want this version of events to be true, or whether its because this is actually the true situation I don't know. Hopefully the latter. I think Rothchilds have sussed out Neville and AV06 pretty quickly and are concentrating their resources on the other two bids.
  6. Jesus what is up with the internet today?! I've been travelling home for the last hour or so and expected to come in and find another 15 pages on the takeover thread after the radio interviews etc! So I'm quite thankful in a way the boards went down Those are pretty good summaries I think - nothing missing. I think the end result is basically we're not going to hear if a bid has been accepted until at the earliest Tuesday / Wednesday next week.
  7. Story just after 730pm apparently - hear from all four consortia...
  8. They're probably just setting up the press room for that press conference tomorrow lunchtime
  9. shuts in about 5 minutes Worth always bearing in mind that if its an announcement Villa have some control over (e.g. when they announced new sponsors) it will always be between 5pm and 6pm or at around 7am i.e. before or after opening / closing hours
  10. tbh I don't think there'll really be an announcement today - things have been too quiet. If there was going to be one now, the only time it would be is as soon as the LSE shuts. I've got a feeling I'm going to wake up tomorrow morning and find that a press conference has been called for around lunchtime at Villa Park.... Im afraid you are giong to wake up very very dissapointed mate! Let me dream!

  12. Last time I was 3 minutes out with a prediction of 5:15. I'm going for 5:10 this time. In about 50 minutes time.
  13. When the site went down the first time this morning, I realised just how much I rely on it to keep me informed. It was maybe 10 minutes of silence, but it was excruciating. I'm sure I wasn't the only one to feel so cut off. So, having realised how important VillaTalk is to me, especially during these exciting times, I have made a contribution of £5 via the paypal link on the left side menu bar. It's not a lot of money, but after a wedding and honeymoon in the last 3 weeks, its all I can afford right now. Hopefully it can go towards keeping VillaTalk alive and reliable. I'm sure that this site hasn't seen a busier time than the last 3 weeks and there has been a huge strain put on Limpid's resources. If you can, I urge you all to make a contribution to the upkeep of this excellent website. Hear hear. I've done the same. I was distraught when I realised I couldn't access newsnow OR villatalk!
  14. haha I had exactly the same thought. Especially after the last 2 weeks! Same for me also...I was desperately trying to get news anywhere thinking it was happening now, with the sites too busy to respond. Heart rate back to normal. Ok guys, I know this is OT for this thread but most people will see it here. I just had the same problem again with just newsnow and villatalk. Don't know what it is. Last time I solved it by clearing out my cache / history etc. That didn't work this time. Instead I went to my command prompt (in your accessories folder) and typed in the following (thanks to google!)... ipconfig /flushdns (enter) ipconfig /registerdns (enter) Problem solved. For now! Can't be doing without those 2 sites at a time like this!
  15. haha I had exactly the same thought. Especially after the last 2 weeks!
  16. Not just VT - I had problems with loads of sites just now. Had to clear out cache etc
  17. So in a vain attempt to summarise because my head really does hurt..... Bid 1 - Neville Bid 2 - AV06 - that judge fella Bid 3 - Lerner Bid 4 - Athole Still (Potential) Bid 5 - Dubai businessmen (although these may be instead the backers of bid 4, or less likely bid 3) (Potential) Bid 6 - American businessmen (although these are in all likelihood connected with bid 3 and are not therefore a separate bid) Correct summary or not?
  18. Wouldn't it have been more amusing if they'd just written that instead of the long-winded official style statement?
  19. As I understand it, and reading between the lines of posts on other threads, there have been a number of indicative bids as mentioned on yesterdays statement. These are like 'informal' bids for the purposes of the stock market - they are one step removed from being final formal bids and are intended to give Ellis/the board (one and the same?) a general idea of what the bid involves, which allows them to make a decision between them. Assuming one of these is then chosen as the preferred bid, the final touches are put to this particular bid and and minor grey areas are ironed out and this is then submitted as a formal bid. I think there would be an LSE announcement at this point and trading may stop then. There would then be a period of time (dunno how long) when all the legal processes are followed etc and then the deal would take place. As I say, this is how I understand it - I'm no expert though so if anyone can clarify this that would be great!
  20. No, trading is still open as we are still just in 'bid situation' as we have been for some 11 months Just means the share price is the same currently as it was at close yesterday. Nothing more sinister than that. Price rose slightly this morning but has dropped again to its overnight level. People are less sure now and the market reflects this.
